  1. I think TC has the talent and defense to go far in the playoffs, but assuming they beat Marion County in first round, Tyner will be a big test. If they can get to Watertown, I think TC has a good chance of beating them.
  2. The game was on for about a minute, maybe less. Before the connection was lost, Jerry reported that the Jackets scored quickly on their first possession. Just before they went off the air, Jerry said Cameron Rankin picked up a fumble on JC's first offensive play and scored another TD. Then the connection was lost.
  3. You can add me to the list of people who truly love Trousdale County and Hartsville, Tennessee.
  4. Thanks. Since I live too far away to be at all the home games, I am a big fan of the Yellow Jacket broadcasts. Y'all do a GOOD job, and I appreciate it.
  5. Is the radio schedule the same for Thursday night as it is for Friday night? 6:30 Pre-Game and 7:00 Kickoff? What about Murphy Fair? Will he still be on Friday?
  6. Lost his share of games? He lost enough games to get into the TSSAA Hall of Fame. He had the first undefeated team at TCHS since 1922 (41 years) and he went 32 games without a loss. In my extremely humble and accurate opinion, I don't think Waggoner is in his league.
  7. Jim B Satterfield was my head coach. In my opinion, he was a great coach, a motivator, and a character builder. I know he cared about me and all his players. He was also a serious student of football, and he converted us from an old, outdated single-wing to a modern (at the time) wing-t. We had plenty plays we could use to win a game, and he knew how to use them. He taught us that every play was designed to score a touchdown if everybody did his job. He also taught us that we should not blame anyone who made a mistake (e.g., fumble) for a loss. He said that there were too many other opportunities to win a game to blame a loss on one bad play. He also said he would never ask us to do anything that he wouldn't do. I never heard him curse or say a bad word, and I don't know any of his players who disliked him. I still quote him today, and one thing I regret is that I did not go tell him what he had meant to my life before he died. Based upon my experience, I know it is possible to have a coach who cares for his players and wants them to have good, successful lives and also has the knowledge to develop and execute a winning game plan. That is all I want for the current team and all the future Yellow Jacket teams.
  8. I was on the sidelines/next to fence for the Lebanon, Watertown, and Whitwell games, and what I am hearing is not good.
  9. I am going to make a reverse prediction. TC would have won the game last night if Jim B, Clint, or Creasy had been coaching. The Creekbank reputation for being known as a place that is hard for an opposing team to win, was not created because the football field is next to a creekbank. That reputation was earned by coaches who knew how to coach and players who responded to their coaches and their heritage, and players who played hard to win even though the opposing team might have been bigger and better. We have a history of playing against bigger schools with bigger rosters and bigger players. We also have a history of beating other teams no matter how big the schools and the players were. We voluntarily played at the 3A classification level when our enrollment did not justify it. Three teams have come to the creekbank this year and won. That wouldn't have happened several years ago. Is the awe and respect of the creekbank gone? I hope we don't lose our heritage and respect because mediocrity becomes acceptable. Unfortunately, I think that is the way we are headed. We need to stop this trend. I think we still have good players who want to win, play hard, and deserve to win. Therefore, I don't think it is our players' fault for the games we have lost this year. I will leave it to reader to speculate on why we have lost some big games on the creekbank this year.
  10. Looks like Whitwell is struggling to score too.
  11. I thought Whitwell would bring a bigger crowd. LOTS of empty seats. Of course that won’t matter if they win.
  12. Got here early. Already have my parking space. Eating supper at Hartsville Taco a little later. Then it is just a short walk from the restaurant over the Bridge to the stadium where I watch the games with some OLD Yellow Jackets. Go Jackets!
  13. That Waggoner man says he never has lost to the same team two years in a row. I bet he's workin' them boys hard this week to avoid breaking his streak. Maybe he's using some of Roy Dillard's training techniques and making his boys lift weights and chase chickens. I hope he has them ready for Friday night.
  14. Apparently some people took me seriously, but for the record, I was just joking about giving TC the gold ball Friday night if we beat Whitwell by 29 points. I am aware of Meigs County and Tyner and the challenge they would be if TC wins enough games to play them.
  15. I will be very happy if your prediction comes try. I think Whitwell is a lot better team than the team (East Robertson) we played last week, and we scored 42 points against them. I know last year's QB is coming back and another starter who has been out a few weeks is coming back, but I just can't see us beating Whitwell by 29 points, even with both of them returning. However, I will say that I like your crystal ball a lot better than mine. Go Jackets. BTW, if we beat Whitwell by 29 points, there is no need to go to Cookeville, just give us the gold ball Friday night. We've still got room for one more gold ball.
  16. I agree. I just like numbers and computers. We will see how close Sonny Moore is for this game. I doubt that it will be a 1-point game. I think the winner could win by 7-14 points.
  17. Sonny Moore Tennessee High School Football Ratings have just been updated for last week's games and some of the results relating to the TC-Whitwell game are: Whitwell will win by 1.29 points (rounded to 1 point), and that includes a 2-point home field advantage added to TC. TC's Strength of Schedule (SOS) is 97.29 and Whitwell's SOS 81.77. The highest ranked team played by TC is Watertown (ranked 57 in the state) and the highest ranked team played by Whitwell is Polk County (ranked 170 in the state). TC lost to Watertown 22-21 and Whitwell beat Polk County 49-25. All of the above information (except the actual scores) was computer generated, and does not take into consideration how much a team substitutes when they are far ahead of their opponent. I don't know, but I assume it places more emphasis on offense (ability to score points) than it does on defense (ability to keep your opponent from scoring points). Although I hate to drive 160 miles to see my Yellow Jackets lose to Whitwell by 1 point, I still plan on making the trip. Who knows, the computer might be wrong.
  18. I realize that a lot of people don't like comparing football teams' numbers (e.g., scores, records, rankings, etc.), but I think a comparison of Whitwell and TC by the numbers is interesting. Combined Won/Loss Records of Opponents TC 33-14, WHS 10-28 Avg Opponent Ranking (by Sonny Moore) of TC 180.1, WHS 250.5 Highest Rated Opponent (by Sonny Moore) TC 66, WHS 166 Average Points Scored Per Game TC 29.86, WHS 48.3 Avg Points Scored by Opponents Per Game TC 11.29, WHS 6.83 Using these numbers, comparing the strength of both schedules, considering the return of TC's QB and another key player who has been out, and adding some Kentucky windage, I predict the following: TC will score 28-35 points Whitwell will score less than its average of 48 points per game. Should be a good game. "If the good Lord's willing and the water don't rise over the creekbank", I will be there.
  19. I hate to admit how many years ago it was when I played, but I played on the 60-63 teams. Jim B became our head coach in 62, and we went from winning 5 games (in 60 and 61) to winning 9 games in 62 and all 11 games in 63. We were TC's first undefeated team since 1922 (41 years). Jim B Satterfield was more than a great coach; he was a good man too. He told us he would never ask us to do anything that he wouldn't do. He was a tough Biology teacher too; I learned a lot about the parts of a frog under him.
  20. As an OLD Yellow Jacket (coached by Jim B Satterfield, the man who started all this mess at Trousdale County), I am driving about 160 miles to see this game. I don't know who to predict as the winner of this game, but given the Jacket's performance in their last three games, I don't think Whitwell will score 35 points. In the last three games the Jackets have scored 107 points and their opponents have score 0 points. If I remember correctly from the stats given on the radio last night, TC's last three opponents have averaged less than 1 yard per carry. Even though they have had three shutouts in a row, I don't think Whitwell will be the fourth. I will be very happy with a 1-point win. Go Jackets!!!
