Which John Patton are you talking about, there are two that have dealings with BA. One is legit and the other one who knows, he is a loud mouth, that is for sure but other than that what is his true affiliation with the school. I know that he is over that Powerhouse Youth Program(BA Feeder Program) out of the Antioch area. TSSAA needs to check on him, again.

This is true, DT ran LaVergne the same way. This will not only make them a better football team but it will make them better men/people. It will teach the MC players about life and how to make a good first impression.

True the thread is about the new Coach but it was brought up that Gray may leave and in my opinion the 3 WR's at Smyrna are all better than Gray at this point. Could that change, yea it could but right now, Rod - Wilks, Will, and Jesse are the top returning receivers in Region 4 - 5A. Go back and review the tape from the first game and watch Gray's play, especially when A - Rod threw interceptions, he just needs to play and play hard on every play. If you have a personal relationship with him just remind him that someone is always looking at you, even when you think that they aren't. I saw him at some Camps and he blew me away with how he runs his routes and gets open, he could work on catching with his hands more but the kid is a good athlete and will play on Saturdays if he wants. I just don't think going to SHS during your last year will benefit him as much as people are saying because of the situation he would be in at SHS. Now, who is going to be the new coach, will he come from inside the program or are they going for a big hitter?

After watching the video of the press conference I just don't know. A couple of things stood out that the coaches said, one is that they are going to spread the ball out and they will that is good but if they call plays like they did against Riverdale and Smyrna it will be the same results. Hester said that the offense can help the defense and that is correct but his play calling this year hurt LHS in several games. I hope that they succeed but they are sitting there saying things that they are going to do that they didn't do this year in the 3 or 4 games I watched them play.

Hester took the MC spot but already had the understanding with DT that if he was pick for the CHS job he could leave, no harm no foul. Everything was up front amongst them.

Gray would have to sit out a year under TSSAA rules unless he has a residence change. Chris is going to get to play at the next level, he will probably commit early if he burns up the summer camp scene like he did last year. So what ever coach comes shouldn't effect him at this point, look at the WR who is at Franklin High. Campbell burned up the camps then early committed to UT and only had a so so year but is still going to UT. Since we are throwing out names why not Coach Robbins at Smyrna, he is a little older/maturer but still has a feel for the game today.

I agree Coach Thomas is a good guy and coach and he will do well for the MC. I just hope Grooms and Moos land in good situations because they are good young coaches who should be with good coaches this early in their coaching years. What is coach Williams going to do, is he just going to concentrate on Baseball now? Any guess who the new coach will be, I hear R. Shockley is a canidate, he was on the staff at MC last year and he is also an MTSU guy. Crazy how things work.

I agree with you, Coach Thomas could care less about what is said on this board. I spoke with him earlier this week and he is concentrating on getting his team ready for a very good Smyrna team. Anyone who gets on here and starts saying things that are untrue about a coach needs to watch that because that could end up being bad for someone. We are here to talk sports and high school football in particular. I just want a nail biter of a game with very few mistakes and I will be happy.

I agree LaVergne does give Smyrna respect, that is why they lose to them everytime. This is football and if I'm on the field with you, I'm not respecting you. Play hard against each other, that is how you show respect in sports. LaVergne has just as many athletes as Smyrna but it is more mental, look at the first game, turnovers killed them. Smyrna does the same thing with Riverdale, there is no way Riverdale should have beat Smyrna without throwing a pass. Too much respect equals a butt kicking, everytime. Remember, they put their pads on just like you put yours on. That goes for both teams no matter who you are playing. Stop helping the other man up everytime you tackle them, let them get up on their own, their is no rule that says you have to help them up. I know some people say sportsmanship, whatever, you are showing sportsmanship by making the tackle and getting up off of him without saying anything to him, that's enough for me.

What about the coaches on Brentwood Academy's staff, they have several coaches who are capable of running a program. The DC's name has been mentioned a lot in recent years what is the status on him?

Hey Cat, I think Region 4 - 5A gets 4 wins on Friday if: Smyrna, gets off to a good start and has good balance with the run and pass. LaVergne, controls the clock and limits turnovers, basically run the ball. Lebanon, keeps playing physical and limit turnovers Riverdale, Just keep doing what they are doing and don't get the big head. Round two this region starts to knock each other out, lucky for the rest of the playoff teams. GOOD LUCK REGION 4 - 5A

You're wrong he knew that they were moving up to DII AAA, he didn't know the time frame but he knew it was coming. TSSAA was the one who moved up the time frame on everyone, so BGA, Ensworth, JPII, they were all caught off guard. They just have to move on and make the most of the situation because we all know once TSSAA, excuse me Ronnie Carter, makes a decision it is a done deal.

Great post, if I know Coach Johnson like I think I do he is staying put and going to see this through. I bet he is getting paid better from a private school than what he would from a public school. He has stated that BGA is committed to turning things around, remember they won their last Championship in 2003 and the only school in the state with more is Brentwood Academy and maybe MBA, I can't remember. Maybe some of the kids from some of the Williamson County schools should look into BGA, great education, nice facilities and some are about to be updated, small classes, and yes great coaches. Johnson STAYS but I don't know about the rest of his staff. They are young and maybe some of them get offers. This will be interesting to see who moves where this off season. Good luck LHS and cut out the turnovers, please and run the ball. Cat tell your boy to cool out because I like both LHS and Smyrna, I coached a lot of the guys when they were younger. Just beat RHS, please.

I sure hope the Riverdale game brings out this type of intensity. I am ready for someone in this county to beat them.
