  1. Mace out plays Hendricks all day and you and every coach in 4-5a knows this. I think he doesn't get his due because he isn't a Smyrna boy. If you are one of the OL's maybe you should concentrate on blocking and not message boards. If I would have been calling the plays you wouldn't have lost to Brentwood. Had me wasting my money.
  2. So now since you say you know who I am, I guess you have seen me watching practice. So, what I was saying is valid, right? Now, what is happening between the team is it going to effect the play on the field? Do you think it is right for a player to insert himself into a game during certain situations? If you want to play on Fridays and you can practice during the week you should. That is all I'm saying. I know so many of these kids from Smyrna and LHS that you can't call me a trader because I support all of them and both schools Football Boosters because I want all of them to be successful.
  3. Cat maybe you are out of the loop, I am a Smyrna fan ask Coach Beasley, that is what you call him. Ask Mace, that is what coach Shad calls him, right? Maybe you don't know about the meeting they had, say it isn't so that Hendricks is going around saying Mace may have more yards but I will have more TD's and tries to insert himself in the game anytime you are in the red zone. Say it isn't so that Hendricks tries to sit out of practice and then play on Fridays. Just to show you up I make it known this week when I'm watching you practice. I know more than you think I do or are willing to admit. For those who don't know who Coach Beasley is he helps with their speed and agility training, I guess I'm wrong on that too Cat, right? Now who is YAWNING, do you feel bad that I know more than you do about your school?
  4. I just want to know what is happening, all of you Smyrna High people who post tell everyone else's business on here so spill the beans.
  5. I know that Harris feels he is getting the short end of the stick, Hendricks gets to get in when ever they get in the red zone and he runs most of the sweeps and Harris has to run all of the tackle to tackle stuff. Wilks has to much say I was told by several players but they aren't going to stand up and say anything becuase of what may happen. Like I said I only have bits and pieces so someone with more of the correct info please post so we all know what is happening.
  6. Man don't start that BULL on here, we are talking High School Football, PERIOD!!!!1
  7. This is where you are wrong RHS will be able to play with the SHS wr's. Riverdale has more athletes than Smyrna from top to bottom. If the DB's contain the WR's the Smyrna RB's will have a tough time running. I can tell you this if RHS strikes first, Smyrna may start to doubt themselves and that could be bad. Smyrna has a very good back in Harris, who in my opinion is the better of the two Smyrna backs and runs harder than Hendricks. I have noticed that the Smyrna team has a little agruing going on within, with the two RB's having words and Wilks and Crouch having words all of this after the lost anyone know more on this, I only received bits and pieces.
  8. I don't know about EASILY, LaVergne doesn't protect the ball very well. I think they are averaging two INT's a game, they are going to have to play good ball in every game that is left. They need to run the ball more, the running game is looking good and then A - Rod wouldn't have to throw as much. I think LHS has the talent to win all of their last games but the TO's have to come to a stop and the running game must become the main stay. Look at the teams that are successful, they run the ball and don't give up on it because it keeps the defense honest. Ramsey and Tillery are doing a good job, just give them more carrries, they deserve them. Stop padding the Passing Stats.
  9. I smell upset, if BGA can limit turnovers they win this one and boy will the confidence go through the roof.
  10. I think BGA may be a year or two away because of the new coaches and just getting familiar with everything. From what I hear they have several athletes who have to sit out this year but will be able to play next year so that is good for the future for them. I watch them against Hillwood and the young guys really got after the ball and hustled on offense. I am still going to make a bold prediction after watch BGA will open the season with a win because they will out hustle their opponent and give their all for the new coaches.
  11. LaVergne folded, I think it is more mental than anything. A - Rod Fumbling on the first play wasn't what LHS needed in a game like this. The LHS coaching staff is going to have to sit him down and talk ball control with him and forget about hurting his feelings. He averaged 2 to 3 turnovers a game last year and he can't do that this year if LHS has any chance. The running game looked good with the bigger back (Ramsey) in the game, he has nice speed and is a load once he gets going. The smaller back (Tillery) did a good job he just isn't very effective running between the tackles. Who ever LHS had in the box must not have told the coaches on the side line that SHS was leaving the center of the field open for the post because they didn't run it at all. I will admit that the receivers missed a lot of catchable passes and Gray didn't even try on one play, if he isn't going to give 100% all the time sit him and go with who will. Coaches stop babying these High School Athletes and get in their butts before later in life they become the Clarretts. Smyrna GREAT JOB keep up the good work and good luck the rest of the season. LaVergne good luck and I hope you work out the kinks because you do have a talented team but no one is going to roll over for you guys no matter how big you are.
  12. Smyrna's D played a good (solid) game and LaVergne's O helped them out a great deal. The QB fumbling on the first play was the worst thing that could happen to LHS, I think. There heads were in the dirt after that, A-Rod is really going to have to stop the turn overs if LaVergne has any hope of winning. He averaged 2 to 3 turnovers a game last year, good teams just don't do that. I also think the coaching staff got out coached all around. Who was in the box, couldn't they see that Smyrna was giving up the middle of the field to stop the run. Tillery is okay but I liked the bigger back (Ramsey) better, they moved the ball better with him in the game but the second half he only touched it once to get a short yardage 1st down. Smyrna used their two backs perfect and it showed at the end, maybe LHS can take note and try what SHS is doing and run the back that is hot and stop being sold on one back being in the game at certain times. LHS O Line got its butt whipped up and down the field all night long, I thought that was the strength of the team, if so it is going to be a long season, unless they start playing like everyone expects. THE GAME DIDN'T LIVE UP TO THE HYPE AND A LOT OF FANS STARTED TO LEAVE AND GO TO THE RIVERDALE GAME. Good Luck for the remainder of the season to both and I hope each team works out the kinks that they have even though I didn't see many in the Smyrna team.
  13. Maplewood expose Smyrna, be physical and they will fold. All of their previous scrimmages were against teams they were expected to beat but when a team with just as much talent rolled in to town, Smyrna rolled over.
  14. What you say is true but LaVergne don't get too confident because Goodpasture kicked your butt last week. Everyone is do a bad day/game lets hope both teams get it together and play up to their potential next Friday.
  15. As a High School Football Fan I think it is fair to say that some of the Smyrna fans really over state some of the facts. I have been logging some serious travel time going to scrimmages and I have seen LaVergne, Smyrna, Brentwood Academy, Battle Ground Academy, and Antioch. I haven't seen any of these teams that look like they will win the State Championship. I have notice that some teams are playing tougher teams right now to get ready and some teams are playing smaller schools and killing them. You can take it for what it is worth but when I post I post nothing but truths. We should be giving and receiving accurate information not false info because we like one team over another. Like I said LHS really needs to find a third receiver and work on the passing game, SHS needs to run more effective, AHS is in a new system and needs to stop talking so much and just play. Listening to the BA folk you will think they are God's team, they are okay but McCallie is usually better and MUS seems to have their number too. BGA has a lot of young athletes and I think in a couple of years they will make some noise, they will be competitive this year and who knows with a little luck they may win 6 games.
  16. I agree with you totally, he will do a good job at WKU. There is nothing wrong with re-evaluating your situation and putting yourself in a better situation. What is good for one person isn't always good for another person.
  17. Instead of arguing lets all pray for Anthony to be okay, in the big picture when someone is hurt a football game takes a back seat. LaVergne has a good team and great coaches who care a great deal about their players and Smyrna has a good team also, with good coaches (especially coach Robbins who I played for at MT). I just hope the game lives up to all of the hype. As far as the scrimmages I think LHS did a good job all week even against Goodpasture, they just ran into a offense they weren't ready for but as the game went on the adjustments were being made. It is good that they saw that because Riverdale is going to be running something similar.
  18. Does anyone know how the player/kid from LaVergne is doing? For anyone who doesn't know one of LaVergne's players was taking to the hospital by Ambulance during a scrimmage today against Lincoln County.
  19. They were okay, not just blowing up any plays but sure not get blown out of any. Like I told a guy a LHS, some of these scrimmages aren't good indicators because you don't have any idea what some teams are going to run. You just hope your base or what you are working on can handle what they are running on the other side of the ball. Smyrna has to also remember that they were playing teams that didn't have as much talent as a whole because one is DII and the other is like 2A or 3A. They can leave knowing that they got good work and reps against someone else and they can adjust what they need to. That goes for every team at this point, this is about learning and adusting before the first game that counts.
  20. Dawg, I was there too, tell it like it is Jarvis did break a big run but it was called back because of holding. The hold was right where he was running. Passing game was off the hook, Gray and Wilks an awesome combo!!!!
  21. Hey, I watched both LaVergne and Smyrna scrimmage this week and I have to say that Smyrna looked better. Gray and Wilks have something special going. LaVergne is struggling to be consistant, the WR's are dropping to many passes and the line is taking plays off but in the same breath when the line wants to they dominate. It sounds crazy but at this point the Smyrna passing attack is better than LaVergne's. The running games are equal at this point, I think LaVergne's D is better but Smyrna has better depth. Both teams will be geeked for August 18th, good luck to both.
  22. Hey, I'm not a fan of either team but I am a football fan and like I said before I don't know if the Smyrna Coaches know. I do know that the parents are out right lying and it should be TSSAA who investigates and makes sure that everything on the paper work is legal but their stance is they don't have the man power to investigate every complaint. If you can't investigate why is the paper work even sent in? The kid in question want even make a difference but fair is fair, don't get me wrong I'm not accusing any coaches because they use what is reported to them.
  23. Good Luck Moses, there are some people wishing for your downfall so prove them wrong. You have to outwork them to become great, good just want do.
  24. To close to call, might be like last year, very close with turnovers being key. Question: How good are Smyrna's DB's last year they were exposed and I watched them this week and they aren't much better. Question: How good are LaVergne's D-Linemen, very young and from what I see still learning how to play in system. LaVergne 23 Smyrna 21
