  1. WHATEVER indeed. Suitcase Scott really fits. CONGRATS MOUNTAINEERS.
  2. Why would you want to add insult to injury. Heritage has enough obsticles in it's path without Fat Phil.
  3. Wpfast is correct in his views. I grew up in Cocke County and live in Maryville now. Come take an in-depth look at the Maryvillke program. You will see all the things wpfast mentioned. Do I like Maryville football? NO but I do respect their program. We are in the Heritage district and have our own problems, mostly from the standpoint of losing talent to Maryville as well as Alcoa. Both Maryville and Alcoa are tuition schools and several kids throughout Blount County pay to go to the city schools, sort of like Newport Grammar was in the 60's and 70's. I am sure there is no direct violation of TSSAA rules by either school but there is a lot of peer pressure, especially where talented players are concerned. That aside, both Maryville and Alcoa are very successful due to the mindset and dedication that wpfast described. Good luck with your program in the future.
  4. #1 is a good player but he needs to practice self control. Way too much talk and gestures. As for the call, #1 drew the flag. The ref told #43 that he was flagged for retaliation.
  5. And it was a very senseless injury. Why does the Soddy coach pull his 2's after they have been on the field for several plays and put his 1's back in with a 21 point lead and less than 2 minutes to go. This isn't the BCS. Decisions like that are just asking for injuries to either side. Maybe you should include the ability to make rational coaching decisions in your prayers.
  6. Yeah, Correll told me he may be leaving. Wish he would reconsider if he has that option. We already lose enough players to the local "private" schools. I can't help it, I'm just a Heritage fan. Not just football, I've only missed 7 games since 1995 (that includes both home and away), but all functions whether it's sports, band concerts or whatever. Anything that I can attend, I do. I just wish I had more time. Work really gets in the way!! The students at Heritage are, for the most part, just down to earth country folks. My kind of people. They call us hicks and rednecks, amoung other things, and I appriciate it. I have been a redneck hick for a long time and I consider it a compliment. Lets make some noice at the Farragut game. I know the team will like it. Get the word out that there needs to be noise and lots of it!
  7. Cermak is perhaps the best overall player in the county. He is just a good athelete. I will have to agree with the coaching decision to play him on defense although I do like to watch him carry the ball. We have a lot of backs who are capable of producing good yardage. With that in mind, use the players wisely to promote the most favorable outcome for the team. How do you think winning programs become winning programs? They use their resources to their own advantage. The coaching staff we have now has brought the team a very long way. They could very easily have bailed as others in our area have done, but they didn't. They chose to stay and work with the Heritage faithful and I for one think that it is beginning to pay off. I truely believe that if the entire Heritage community will get behind our team on a regular basis, you will continue to see a difference. Win or lose, it would be a lot easier if the stands were full, just ask any of the players. And make noise. Last Friday I think we could have made the 4th and short if the noise level were higher. True fans will be there in any condition under any circumstance. I agree with what you said about Noah. He is a great kid who seems to take all he does very seriously. Maybe too seriously at times. Kicking a football is a lot like golf, you know what to do and how to do it but if you think too hard, everything can go wrong. Sometimes you have to just kick the ball. Confidence will come and so will accuracy. Keep up the good work, Noah.
  8. Heritage did play a good game...First game jitters on both sides but the Mountaineers seemed to get control early and focus on the job at hand. It was the same in Monday night' freshman and JV games. Some mistakes but overall good football. Our kicker is young and improving with each game. "Choke.....badly" is rather harsh don't you think? Especially when it comes from one who refer to him as "our" kicker. Give him the support he deserves by just taking the field. Keep it rollin' red.
  9. Does anyone have any scores from today's games in the Riverdale tourney?
  10. Farragut is definately overrated. OL is trained very well in using opponents jersey sleeves for a quick hold in my opinion. On one series I counted 6 plays where the tackle used the sleeve to pull the defense off balance, all without a flag. They are big and quick enough to do it, but with their size and ability they shouldn't have to.
  11. I didn't see the Powell/West game but I did see the Powell/Heritage game in the Region semis. I was told that Regon I refs were in that one. Supposedly from Greenville area. Horrible calls where ever they were from. It was almost as if they were aligning future opponents. I know it's a difficult task and there are always going to be missed calls and no calls but the grading scale that TSSAA uses to rate the refs, if there is one, should be revised. Sad that inept official are allowed to continue.
