  1. Yes, but from the players that I mentioned, all went to the feeder schools into Catholic with the exception of Walden. What point are you trying to make?
  2. Recruited players? Name me one in the last 5 years. The best players the last five years at Catholic were not recruited. Tony Fox- Transfered from Notre Dame high school in Chatt. Not to mention he is a Catholic. Brett Connor- Went to Catholic school all through elementary and middle school. Matt Parton- Same can be said about him that is said about Connor Tremane Brown- Same as Parton and Connor Harrison Smith- Same as above Ryan Walden- Mom has taught at Catholic at least 10 years. Now tell me who Catholic has recruited. Seems to me that all the schools around them recruit more than them. And since when have Baylor and McCallie been weak teams? How about when Notre Dame had Adarius Bowman and all those other athletes? I think Catholic beat them when all those guys were there. So before you "toot your horn" too quick about recruiting get your facts straight.
  3. As far as Catholic crossing the pike to play Bearden, it won't happen. If i am correct and from what I have heard in the past, Catholic tries to schedule good teams in the area, Bearden being one of them, and Bearden always says no. Catholic had a very good 3 year run that I'm not sure any team from the area can match, and they weren't playing a weak schedule either.
  4. Farragut plays at Powell Monday. Should be a pretty good game. What does everyone think?
  5. How did Catholic loose to Webb? I have seen both teams play this year and think that Catholic is at least 15 points better than Webb.
  6. After watching the Super 16, no AA schools should be listed ahead of any AAA schools except for Fulton. AE is also in there because they always compete. Carter had destroyed almost all the teams they had played coming into the Super 16 and they were loosing by 30 at halftime to Bearden. The size difference and overall competition in AAA is much better than AA. My Ten 1. Bearden 2. Maryville 3. Oak Ridge 4. Fulton 5. Austin East 6. Farragut 7. Powell 8. Anderson County 9. Carter 10. William Blount
  7. Fulton won by about 15. Farragut had to have had at least 20 turnovers. Farragut tied the game in the third quarter, but Fulton closed the quarter on a 14-2 run. Farragut's guard play was not that great. The guards accounted for 15 turnovers, and a lot of that had to do with Fulton's pressure. Fulton is a good team.
  8. I would say Catholic. I've been to some of their games over the past few years and they are very good. They rarely loose there, and the student section is one of the best I've heard. As far as Clinton goes it is hard to play there because every time you play them at home you are playing 5 on 8. The officiating there is obvious that they are calling against the visiting team.
  9. Farragut bounced back well Tuesday night against William Blount. They started out slow like their was still a hangover from the Bearden game, but they fought back, and overcame some very questionable calls in the second half and hung on for the win. Who would Farragut have to look forward to? They don't play until next Thursday and it is non-district game vs. Karns. That made no sense. South Doyle is improved, but I think Farragut will come out on top.
  10. Should be a good game, both teams lost to Maryville by 3 points. Farragut has much better guard play, but Bearden has the advantage inside. If Farragut can get an effective inside-out game going they should be able to come out on top. Farragut can afford to double down on the post, but Farragut has 3 guys that can shoot so Bearden will not be able to double as much. It will be a close game.
  11. Austin East doesn't exactly have great guard play. They are down this year, people just haven't seen it yet. Maryville has good guard defense and so does Farragut. Also agree that Bearden does not have the shooters that Maryville or Farragut has, so that will allow more double teaming from the guards in the post, which Bearden will not have the luxury of when playing Maryville and Farragut.
  12. Maryville is a much better team than Bearden. Bearden does not have the guard play to compete with Maryville, and once Douglas gets back for Maryville, they may not loose a game in the district, and have a legit shot at maybe getting back to state and possibly winning it again.
  13. Yeah, he'll be playing once Maryville's football season ends.
  14. These rankings are a joke. If these people knew anything about basketball they would have Anderson County above Loudon. AC is going to be stacked this year. On another note, Farragut is way to under ranked. I would put them at 4. And personally, I think that Fulton might be the best team in the area this year. Farragut's group of Seniors is pretty good and know how to win. The loss of their JV coach will be missed, but they got a pretty good one in return. He has plenty of experience and is a really good coach.
  15. Bearden will not win the district. Simpson is ineligible until after Christmas because of grades (so I've heard). If that is the case, that could knock Bearden down, and if they loose 2 or 3 games before he comes back they could easily drop to third. Jenkins can not carry the load himself; he is too soft. I don't see Maryville or Farragut loosing more than 2 games in the district.
