  1. yes in around 1999 or 2000 Elizabethton under coach Wilson lost every game one year, coachh you can set the record straight on this Im sure.........
  2. Coach thats because the host school Boone is in the bottom bracket. Kinda like why Eliz put Alcoa in the bracket opposite Eliz last week at the chic Filet tourney. Good competition will only help Cloudland Unicoi and Eliz.
  3. Cherokee is about three or four players down from when they played Eliz a month ago, and still almost managed to win on Elizs home court. It is good to be able to play bad and win, but its also bad to play bad. With South Greene very down this year, and Greenville also down, this is a year when Eliz and Unicoi "should" both have sectional games, "if" they continue to improve over the next 6 weeks. This post Christmas tournament should be interesting. If anybody has the complete schedule please post it. Merry Christmas fellas.
  4. I aint talking betsy down coachh, I just aint puttin them on a pedestal anymore. Granted your girls have owned Unicoi and the rest of the conference (except for when S. Greene was in it), for the last 8-9 yrs, but this year its more of an even playing field. Thats all I have ever said. You folks are the ones having trouble with reality. Eliz is good enough to get back to where they have always gone for the last ten yrs which is at least to the the regional semis. Beyond that who knows.
  5. coachh John Battle is terrible and you know you cant gauge progress against bad teams. Unicoi on the other hand beat two pretty good teams handily, on the road, this week. Battle could not beat Johnson County. You can gauge your cyclones progress after they play a pretty good Alcoa team. Take off your blinders every once in a while; you might see the forest..........
  6. what are you talking about Sparky. Dugger isnt the coach anymore, and everybody knows Wilson only plays about seven players, and Ehs has those seven nailed down. If depew gets in foul trouble the freshman will play the point. I heard some talk about the senior who didnt want to play for Dugger coming back on the team, Norris, any truth to that?
  7. I actually agree with everything you posted except for the part about Len not wanting the boys job this off season. Why else did he interview for the HV job (known fact) this past spring? No doubt something behavioral happened to hasten Gordon's firing. It is also no secret that Wilson has missed coaching and wanted the girls job when it came open. It is a mess and not fair to the kids. So does Wilson inherit Gordons boys staff to help him coach girls? Your post implies that Len will take the girls assts with him to coach boys. The assts have been hired for this season so they will have to be paid. How will that be handled?
  8. Just noted in the tri county 7 thread, with a link to a breaking story in the JC Press. Eliz fires its boys coach Gordon; Dugger takes his job and Wilson takes his old job back coaching the girls team. Very strange to do this a month into the season. No real reason given. Dugger lobbied for the boys job in the off-season (after turning it down prior to Gordon's hiring in 2010), so now he's got it. What's going on in Etown?
  9. As Gomer Pyle would say Golllll-leeeeeeee, Sha-ZAmmmm. Wilson is a seasoned coach, as is Dugger. It is very strange to do this in the middle of the season. I smell something............
  10. Coachh and Sparky you certainly have your orange colored glasses on; thats okay, its better than having you crow over another win by Eliz. Sparky since you brought up the newspaper article, would you or coachh answer this, what in the sam hill was Dugger talking about when he compared missing layups, FTs, and not defending the perimeter to having baby rabbit or bird in your hand and letting it go?? I thought it was good to let a young bird or rabbit live? Is Dugger saying if you have a baby bird or rabbit, you should kill it? Help me out here I dont understand his coachspeak here. And coachh you remember back in the early 2000s when Eliz had Unicoi in their sights, and let them escape with wins, time after time......until the worm turned and Eliz finally got over the hump about 6-7 yrs ago; since then Eliz has won the close games most every time. I remember Unicoi blowing a 10 pt lead in the last minute in the regional semis about five years ago. Well perhaps the worm is turning again back our way. Time will tell buy as coach E said, this is a good start. Go Big Blue.
  11. Lady Devils gutted out the win tonight over Eliz. Tough, physical hard fought game. Defensive game as the score shows. Game kinda reminded me of the way these two teams played 6-8 yrs ago. Boys game wasnt close as the devils won easily. Lady Devils need a big effort against Cloudland to win. Coachh and sparky if you saw the game what did you think?
  12. Lady Devils blasted CD tonight by more than 30. I just hope we dont peak too soon this year. Should be a great game next week vs Eliz. Go big Blue........
  13. I think coachh has it about right, for now. I have never thought or stated that Unicoi will breeze through the three rivers this year. It will be a dogfight between them and Eliz with neither team going undefeated. Round one is at Unicoi next week. The thing about the three rivers this year is that East and HV are both improved and on given nights could beat the top two if they are not at their best.
  14. Thanks for the reply Sparky. Eliz's five juniors, other than DeMoss, have little real game experience. DePew played a little last year but mostly her time and the other juniors time was in mop up roles. So they are adjusting to being starters and having to grind it out for 32 minutes. I just dont think coach did his team or himself any favors by calling them out in the newspaper. As for Unicoi we get CD and Eliz. in the next week or so which should show where we are. CD is pretty good this year, they beat North Greene. And its been awhile since Unicoi beat EHS.
  15. Sparky, I didnt mean shame on you, I meant shame on Dugger for calling those kids out in the paper. And no I didnt see their games at HV. I did watch them a couple times this summer and Eliz has talent, but is young. They will be fine come Feb, unless Dugger destroys their confidence by putting too much pressure on them. Did the freshman not play against the Landers? I notice she didnt make the box score. What's the deal? And KING, this is a tri-county thread not a Lander/Ehs thread. Blue Devils are looking pretty good so far. Quietly going about building a team. Will see how far they have come in about 10 days.
  16. Oh Sparky you are just taking your coachs' tact in attacking these young girls' hearts. For those of you that dont get the Eliz paper, The great Lenn Dugger called out his girls after their loss to Greenville wednesday saying they were not playing with heart and not tough enough (except for the freshman who he put on a pedestal) Shame on you.
  17. Sparky, you not only wear orange colored glasses, you were Dugger colored glasses! But I guess since you and your kid played for him thats understandable. With Lenn you either love him or hate him; theres no inbetween. I like his coaching skills except for the fact that he has a history of cheating. Should be a more competitive conference this year from top to bottom. I dont see any team running the table like Eliz did, fairly easily, last year.
  18. Looks like Cloudland gets a chance to prove its preseason status at the HV tourney this coming week. Be careful what you wish for landers...... Guardedly optimistic about Unicoi's team this season. Seasoned team and coach in his second year should be familiar with his team and opponents.
  19. Hey take your Laken NG lovefest to your own thread; this is a 3 Rivers thread!! Just Kiddin. NG played two games saturday-----was the EHS game first; then Boone? Is Boone that much improved or was NG tired from the close game with betsy.
  20. EHS got waxed by TN High by 20 last night and but for the freshman Bowers it would have been 30. That freshman is the one that quit a couple months ago and then was re-recruited back into the fold by Lenn. Wonder what that involved? Eliz may get their hats handed to them again today by North Greene. Dugger's coaching will be tested this year. Go Big Blue.
  21. Duggers days are numbered I hear. He can get away with things for only so long. He is a good floor coach but I have never liked his methods and ethics. I hope the blue devils can regain the top spot this year.
  22. So is this true? And which player? A rising freshman or sophomore? If a new freshman, Id say it would be the Bowers kid; but wasnt her dad one of Lenns new coaches?
  23. Oh I know the best recruiter this side of Knoxville hasnt lost his touch coachh. Dugger usually brings in a new recruit every year (McCurry from Unicoi last year, Cara Bowling from Happy Valley the year before), although he did whiff on the Dugger sisters from Hampton the year before that. And he is a good floor coach. However, when has he lost two for sure starters in two years. He had a point guard transfer to a county school and then now a two year starting post quits. Something burning in the kitchen? As for Unicoi, this coming year may be there year but I would be the last to guarantee it. If Fish were still there, maybe; this will be a telling year for the new coach. There are expectations and there is veteran talent. I expect Dugger to field a very competitive team and have his girls back in a regional semifinal contest.
  24. coach17 what about your cyclones? I hear there is trouble in paradise. The only returning cyclone starter and only rising senior with any game experience to speak of QUIT. Whats going on? Has Dugger lost his touch?
  25. KSpark: Mo West and TN High might be good in February but right now they are very very average AAA teams and YOU know it. Science Hill is a good AAA team right now and its obvious that Dugger did not want to play them for whatever reason. EHS schedule is weak compared to several years ago. Enough about that. Time will tell. I sat next to some HV people on friday and they said their point guard tore her knee up in practice about 10 days ago. I think she still has another year left so hopefully she can come back. HVs new coach, in time, will be a big big improvement over his predecessor.
