  1. I agree with you a 100% on last years squad, but I promise, you will see more athletes on the field against the Warriors than you have seen this year when the Cats come to town, more athletes then you guys have? I am not sure, but this bunch will stay with whatever your Warriors can bring and I am not trying to be disrespectful in any way just as a matter of fact. I think too our offensive coaching staff has grown up tremendously since last season, our game plans are much more diverse and hard to defend. What can you say for the defensive staff, all you have to say is Coach Lussier and there is no one better at getting a defense ready to play in this state than him, plus our defensive line has improved so much what looked like a real weakness early in the year has turned into a huge plus for the Cats.
  2. Oak Ridge Cat get a grip man no one has shown anyone any disrespect to any Oak Ridge team or Riverdale team, but it is ok to state thoughts and opinions here. You are not the only true OR fan on here because you disagree with what I believe or anyone else. The one thing I do know is that we are all Oak Ridgers and Oak Ridge fans and we want the best for our Team, school , and community. You can call it out of control or whatever but let people say their peace they might love Oak Ridge Football just as much as you do. Bring it back home where it belongs, Go Cats
  3. I respect your opinion si dude, but I believe you are wrong. Riverdale did not even win a championship last year and they beat us because we were not as prepared as we should have been
  4. Thank you Brother but if you will admit it something has changed I don't know what, If they beleive or not but they played like it this week and last. I hope they do win, but again if they don't win a champioship this year with the talent and staff on hand we will have underachieved. I am not saying that is bad the world is full of underachievers every day. The team will have reached some of their highest goals, but if you don't reach the highest goal you set for youself what do you call it?
  5. Si it has nothing to do with the kids. Kids never lose a football game adults do. If we put players in a position to win they will. We were more talented last year than Riverdale and we will be this year. You can say what you want but any team that wins a championship the staff must coach them up ,and use all the weapons at hand in the proper way.
  6. Brother are you afraid of Oakland also, you also don't speak for most Oak Ridge folk I hope. I speak for Catscratch and no one else. I have seen every Riverdale game we have played plus all the Oakland games, but I am sure you have also.
  7. Preston we can all be thankful you won't be there when we get home.
  8. If we get beat by Riverdale we will be underacheivers so no my tune has not changed at all we cannot let this opportunity pass us by because you never know when you will have this much talent again. Last year we underacheived. This year it seems we are all getting on the same page coaches and players alike. GO CATS
  9. You are the man Playa429. Bring it home.
  10. I watched the Germantown game last year and if that is the next level Riverdale is in big trouble when they see the next level we bring to their little Tomahawk stadium. It is time for us to take our place again as the best in 5A and these kids we have know that and they know how to get it done. Believe me I am not taking anything away from Riverdale they have a fine upstart football tradition, they just will not know what they are getting into until it will be too late at about 10:00 next Friday night. GO CATS
  11. OrhoneyDoll, do not reconsider at all. Si must not be an Oak Ridger. It is time we re-establish our program as the elite in this state and there is no better place to do it than at the exspense of the mighty warriors. Oak Ridge football should not be in awe of any team in this state. I would hate to be in the Warriors shoes this week all they have heard all year was that this was their year to win it again . I even heard it last year that they were a year away when they beat us, and we should have won that game and we will this year. We have the players, playmakers and the coaches to beat them, but we have go there to win not just to say it was good that we made it this far. I really like our opportunity to play them at their place, from what I have heard from sports writers from their area they have put up some big numbers both on offense and defense but they have played in a really weak region. No one picked us to beat DB this week and they won't pick us to beat Riverdale either, I don't think our team, players and coaches will really care about that but I do know come Friday night the warriors are in for the fight of their lives and their first defeat at hthe hands of the Oak Ridge Wildcats.
  12. Congratulatiuons to the Wildcat players and coaches. Who ever was calling the plays tonight again did a fine job, and also a fine job of preparation during the week. What a call on 4th and 10, took a lot of guts to use that play again but it worked so it was brilliant. Now lets go beat Riverdale and not be awed by them like we sometimes seem to be. Let's not say it was good that we made it this far lets win it. Go Cats
  13. Guys I don't know what the difference was but it was a marked improvement over the lack of balance that we have shown in some previous games . Last week we had several receivers(playmakers) involved, hit the running backs on some passes, and when we do that it makes our running game so much better and easier to achieve. One other thing I have noticed is we have started using some drop back passes instead of just the boot or waggle,if you remember every time we ran the boot or waggle against DB last time we played them, after our QB faked to the back he was either sacked or was running for his life. Whatever the difference in our offense is I think it shows maturity, team work, and very good management skills, by the staff to either change directions or take input from another coach whomever that coach may be, it sends a signal to the team that no one person, player or coach is more important than the team and I say lets keep it up and we will be a very difficult team to eliminate if not impossible. Go Cats
  14. Vandy, No truth to the injury report at all, in fact he is probably more rested than he has been this year which does not bode well for the injuns. It will take more then a coaching advantage in this one to win and about the only advantage I can see their coaching staff has is they come up with some pretty good one liners. Any truth that your big receiver has been suspended again for this game?
  15. Fellas. if our(Oak Ridge) running back that wears #1 is not a candidate then MR Football means about as much as the Heisman. Nothing
  16. The big kid from DB is probably the best college prospect with the junior from Knox central a close second, but I would not trade our (Oak Ridge) QB for either one, he will outshine the DB QB tomorrow. He is playing really well right now and gets the ball to the playmakers with very few mistakes, I just hope the coaches continue to spread the ball around to all of our playmakers, if they do we will not lose again this year.
  17. Si Dude they don't want to play us except in a scrimmage, and that may be best.
  18. Cat fans I know we will win now that Vandy has picked the Indians. Make your Thanksgiving plans for Murfreesboro. Go Cats
  19. Sorry 03 but everyone in the state knows it that is why your program is joke.
  20. OR30,I understand the old best team on any given night theory, and you and he are exactly right the best on that day and for that game will win,but maybe not the best team for a season. I noticed you posting over on the "best teams" ever, it is remarkable as long as it has been since we have won a championship and we still have one of the best records anywhere.
  21. 30 maybe I am wrong maybe the best team does not always win. I hope the coach you mentioned is a smart man and a heck of a coach, he is going to need to be to get that program turned around. I wonder if he still believes that statement now that is not at Oak Ridge, a program that almost always is the better team.
  22. OR30, sorry I sure did not remember the spike to stop the clock after the receiver fell down around the 5 yd. line, but I am glad you guys did spike it and stop it. My bad. I think the hurry up would certainly have helped save time and maybe we could have had more opprotunities, maybe even to run the ball a time or two. I think we have played Riverdale 4 or 5 times and have never beaten them. Going by what their coach(Rankin) said last year he tought they were at least a year away from being able to win a championship, plus usually when Riverdale is really good in the past they have always had several D1 propects on their team and I don't remember any going anywhere big last year, again I could have missed one just like I may be off on the number of times we have played them. I am not saying the Warriors were weak they were just not as good as some of the teams that had won a state champioship and I still believe that we were the better team last year we just did not finish them off when we had the opportunity, and that happens from time to time. I am sure we have grown as a team in every way, and again if you are a player and I think you are, good luck enjoy this time of your life it always will be a special time for you and your family, a time that will always bring good memories to you no matter if you win them all or not. It is good to be an Oak Ridger and be a member of the Oak Ridge Wildcat Family. Go Cats, Beat Farragutless.
  23. Firstbasetn, you also make some very good points and observations. I both respect and apppreciate your opinions and your love for the Wildcats. You are right we may not agree on the method of getting there but we agree that we want the best for our school, football team and community. I do hope all Oak Ridge fans and others will pray for our soldiers especially those in battle in Fallujah. Thanks, and again Go Cats.
  24. Firstbasetn, I too remember those days you speak of and they were great days, the stands and the stadium always full especially for the playoff games. The atomsphere was electric. All those great players you mentioned and many more who are part of the great tradition that is Oak Ridge Football, and the players on this years team will be a part of that same storied tradition. I appreciate your love of Oak Ridge Football and you are no doubt a very loyal fan. I do take issue on one point you made while we did play Riverdale a good game we lost to them again, at home and we could have won that game, if we had been prepared to run any type of hurry up offense or get the ball to an athlete at the end, maybe even spike the ball to stop the clock at the end, but we did none of the above. That was by far the worst Riverdale team we have played, and I have seen them all as you probably have also, they did not win the state championship after they beat us. Hopefully we are better prepared for those situations this year I feel sure we have learned from our mistakes of last year. Go Cats
  25. 30, I don't think I ever mentioned missing extra points, because I knew it was a kid kicking them and a kid is never at fault. I did mention not making two point conversions because we did not seem to know what we wanted to do. You guys have done a great job if you are a player, keep up the good work. You'll never forget being a Wildcat, and you will always be one.It is good to be an Oak Ridger.
