  1. The same thing could be said about Region 4 AAA. Region 2 is by FAR the toughest region in the state in any classification. MAYBE 1 team could reach the playoffs in this region out of Region 4..........MAYBE !
  2. Nope I would say not. I don't know why they have Decatur as his hometown other than the fact that is where he lived when he signed. Looks like he would get that changed on the UT roster. Sure bet the Athens folks wishes that he would.
  3. Hometown definately ain't Decatur. Just moved there for a couple of years. Guess he could change that if he just would. Have no idea why he don't.
  4. The "STORY" there is they moved to Meigs Co. before his junior year and he wanted to finish his HS years at McMinn (where it began)....His sister, on the other hand, was looking for the best deal. Meigs wasn't interested as it's more trouble than its worth so she enrolled in McMinn also. As McMinn has since found out, it wasn't worth the trouble. WV will probably find the same thing out this year.
  5. Last year is last year. We will see in a couple of weeks.
  6. Sounds like Central and WV do a fine job of recruiting in the McMinn zone. There are at least 5 feeder schools in the McMinn zone and it seems like in the past 2-3 yrs. all the ones who are serious about playing go elsewhere.
  7. And I am ASSUMING that means that region 4 has 7 awfully good teams in it ??......
  8. GEEZ !! Is that a violin I hear in the background ??
  9. Meigs lost 4 starters to graduation. They have 8 freshmen on their 14 player roster. They struggled to score during the summer and I am sure they are going to have some major growing pains during the upcoming season. One thing is for sure, though, they WILL play hard and play defense. The coach will see to that.
  10. The "REASON" the cops had to come to Polks sideline was because the referees told them to because one of Polks "fans" was acting like an idiot. Central students won't sit in your bleachers they will sit on the track in front of your bleachers.
  11. So the whole family up and moved because a baseball coach was playing favorites?? Man, that is really wanting to play.
  12. We will talk our trash this year.....and last year......and the year before last.....and the year before that.....etc. etc. etc..... And just to correct your post, Meigs has 6 seniors and not 8. As a wise ole Florida Gator once said, "if you stink as a sophomore you most likely will stink as a junior."
  13. I thought Silverdale played in the public school division. I thought they were not allowed to recruit. lol.....lol.....lol......I also think their coach had a couple of good yrs. and all of a sudden he is the hottest thing going. How long will he be a Silverdale.......has been known to JUMP ship when the cupboard ain't so full...... A "public" magnet school. Seems like the"magnet" just attracts a lot of good, big, fast football players....
  14. I wouldn't be too sure about that. Last year, 4th place Meigs went to 1st place Greenbrier and it was a 7-0 game with 5 minutes left before GB scored 2 late TD's. Meigs fumbled on the one yd line right before half or it could have been a tie game at half. Just because Polk couldn't defend their home field last year in the first round doesn't automatically mean that Meigs can't this year.
  15. Should be what they call "a good, old fashioned slobber knocker" in Decatur this Friday night. If you are looking for a high speed throw it around the field kind of game then this is NOT the game for you. It will be line up and run right at you kind of football. Will probably come down to fewest mistakes will win, as most games do. Kicking game and field position will play a very important role in this game. Not sure who has the edge in this department, they both have improved dramatically since last year in the kicking game. Polk handled Meigs pretty easily last year in the mud in Benton, but don't think it will be near as easy this year. Come early for a seat.........It ought to be a dandy....
  16. Polks opponents have not fared much better......The Tennessee teams they have played have a combined record of 7 wins and 15 losses plus they have beaten Andrews, NC, who I would imagine have not won many games either. Meigs and Polk play pretty much the same schedule with the exception of 2 games
  17. Meigs opponents overall record is 6 wins and 21 losses with Notre Dame having exactly half of those 6 wins. Don't get overly excited just yet.
  18. If you think Howard can't compete with Meigs then you better not travel down to Chatta town when they play. Howard, on any given night, can "compete" with anybody they play. The most ATHLETIC team in the region (by far).
  19. Meigs is off to a great start, but let's put it in perspective. Their first 5 opponents have a grand total of, I think, 6 wins. The meat of their schedule is definately the second half of the season. I think they should be able to go up to Grundy and win but if the players are already looking ahead to Polk, it could be a long ride back home. I know the coaches won't take the Jackets lightly, I just hope they can get the message across to the players.
  20. The kicker from East Ridge is the best I have seen in person. Against Meigs last Friday put 2 out of 3 kickoffs through the back of the end zone and kicked a 37 yd field goal that probably went 60. Saw him make a 58 yarder in pregame warmups. Beat Meigs last year with 3 forty plus yard field goals 23-14.
  21. In defense of the Meigs Co. people, the clock operator is always an OLDER referee who is no longer able to get up and down the field. These "operators" are assigned with the officiating crew by the local Cleveland officials association. This association has always been BAD at not only clock operating but also in calling the game.
  22. i think meigs will win their D is really good an their O is good they have that running back but it will be a really good game oh i am looking for lineback to have a good game
  23. ND won last year 14-0. They have an excellent defense but lost several key players on offense. Meigs returns all their skill players and most of their defense. I look for a defensive struggle. As usual, in a game like this, the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. Giving the edge to Meigs just because they have the home field advantage. Final score: Meigs 13 ND 10.
