I don't know who came up with this poll but some of these teams are not in SEMO.

  2. AP 4A Missouri Top 10 :

    Class 4

    1. Kearney (9) 13-2 99 1

    2. Webb City (1) 13-1 86 3

    8t. Sikeston 13-1 26 5

    10t. Carthage 9-3 25 NR

    10t. Grain Valley 9-3 25 NR

    Others receiving votes: Affton (8-3) 7, Union (6-5) 5, Borgia (7-4) 3, Miller Career (6-4) 1, Vashon (7-4) 1.

I'm not surprised by this poll and where Sikeston is ranked. Kearney won it all last year and Helias was runner-up. SEMO is at the bottom of the list when it comes to high school football and I think it's always been that way.

You're right, Juqualin Wiggins did graduate last year. I could have sworn someone told me he was a junior last year.

  3. Good job on the big win against Greenbrier, 27-0!! Way to go, looks like Meyers and the team are working hard.

I think they are too and I hope they will build on this. I was told there was speed on both sides of the ball this year, and the team was getting the fans excited on Friday night. I think this will carry on to our first home game against Clarksville Northeast.

  4. The little middle school/9th grade girls dressed like they're going to a club or are in the Lady Marmalade Music video when they're going to a highschool football game. I just dont understand that, and what's worse, is how their parents let them out of the house wearing band-aide like clothing..

I'm glad you brought that up and it is annoying. These girls do it for attention and the parents don't think anything of it.

As a coach, it's the dad that wants to talk to his kid right at the beginning of half-time over the fence or the guy I hardly know that sits behind my wife and discusses where he think I should go.

As a fan, it is the guy that wants to talk to me as the ball is being snapped, or the parents that drop their kids off and drive away.

As a parent, it is the parent that wants to call plays from the bleachers.

I love the quiet dads that shake their sons' hands at the end of the game (or dads who give a hug...either way....) Those sons can't hear a word I say at the end of a game. They are wondering where their dad is.

Very good post!! :thumb: The one about parents dropping their kids off is one that really sticks with me.

  5. My opinion: We need two "sets" of cheerleaders. One competitive squad that goes to competitions and maybe performs at halftime of games occasionally. Before I get crucified, I would argue with anyone that these are true athletes.

We need another set of cheerleaders who truly love the game, love the team, pay attention, know when to cheer, know when to be quite, lead the fans to help the team, and honestly care whether the team wins or loses.

The big problem, in my humble opinion, is when the competitive squad are your game cheerleaders. I feel that in the growing majority of cases, these cheerleaders are there for their sport and not the sport they should be supporting. They look bored during the game and only waiting on the next time out so they can flip down the floor. (Ok, now you can crucify me - but I calls it as I sees it)

These are good points, especially in the third paragraph.

  6. Sorry Maryville, you guys played well and were a good opponent, but your team would not even be in the top 1/2 of teams we played this year. Nothing against you guys, but you are very mediocre team. MUS and CHBS would absolutely hammer Maryville. Congrats to my White Station Spartans!! STATE CHAMPS BABY!!!!!

Boy, where is the humility?? dry.gif Maryville had a great season and didn't quit. Congratulations to both teams. :thumb:

  7. I think that's great and all, but somewhere along the lines, the crowds on Friday night would like to enjoy hearing a great band. It's all part of the atmosphere. Showtunes every single Friday night gets a little monotonous.

I totally agree. My biggest pet peeve is bands not playing a part of the gametime atmosphere. Some bands don't play the fight song when they score, don't do cheers, and/or leave after halftime. And that music being played over the PA system?? That's another pet peeve. I know some high school bands who don't go to away games, because there is no room in the visitor stands. Instead, they could take a pep band. To a certain extent, cheerleading is in the same boat. I've seen squads that don't know what's going on and don't lead the crowd.
