  1. If you want to become a teacher to coach football, then you will be one terrible teacher in the classroom. Good luck getting hired telling a principle coaching "is pretty much the entire reason I want to teach."

Why don't you and Kane go down there and confront Coach Shultz directly and impart on him all of your football wisdom. Then he can crush your skull like a grape.

Hey dude you need to get real. Do a poll of coaches and ask them how many would teach if they couldn't coach. There is nothing wrong with wanting to teach to become a coach. The thing that you have to realize is that most coaches contrary to all popular belief are good teachers. I for one would not teach if I could not coach, but I have been teacher of the year 2 times in the last 12 years in two different systems. Now as an administrator one of the questions I ask in an interview is what extra-curricular activities the candidate might be interested in helping with. If they tell me they don't want to do anything after school then that in my opinion hurts there chances. Teachers who come in at 8 and leave at 4 to me are not giving or getting the full educational experience for the kids. Just my opinion.

  2. That's right, lets forget about trying to win any games this year and finishing the season with any dignity at all. Screw the seniors. It won't matter anyway. They've been jerked around since they were freshmen. What's a few more games? Let's just give up on this group and start thinking about next year.

    I DISAGREE!!!!

This team diserves more. These seniors diserve more. They've hung in there when almost all of their classmates have quit. Now is not the time to turn our backs on them. This is likely their last opportunity to play football. Let's not jerk the rug out from under them now. I would like to see things come together and progress made but not at the expense of the few seniors who have stuck it out. They should be built up; not torn down. That's when things will improve. Positive reinforcement goes a long way. Have you ever seen a dog that's been kicked around all of it's life? That's what I would feel like if I were a senior on this team right now!

I agree with you. They deserve the chance to finish. It is so funny that people are always so quick to blamed the seniors, the QB and the coaches. My goodness people you would think that you would have learned your lessons by now. School been there 11 years and had 6 head coaches. You never give people time to accomplish anything. It is so funny that you first blame coaches, then kids, then the moon isn't aligned right, etc. Why don't you accept the fact that Rome wasn't built in a day and that good things take time. Funny how as soon as the coaches leave there they become successful or have been successful before they got there. Sounds to me like you should all join together and get behind the kids and support, not try and run the team. You have good kids there and it is funny to sit back and watch Coach Summey deal with the same problems the coaches before him have had to deal with. You should never involve the kids in this discussion. As far as that goes you should never down anyone on here. People make mistakes and as long as they learn from them then mistakes are okay. Funny how this season is such a mirror image of 2 years ago isn't it. When you start over every two or three years that is what you should expect. Good luck Chiefs and I wish you well.

  3. This should be a good game, minimize turnovers and the Jets will win. And for those who asked on the cookeville thread Im at ETSU on the track team throwing shotput discus and hammer. It was a better fit then Campbellsville or Cumberland and Tusculum for football

Hey Blueangel 51. Are you who I think? If so how are all of my ETSU track guys doing? This is your former coach here. Let me know how to get in touch wirth you guys. I would like to know how you'll are liking it up there. My email is jholloway5@ yahoo.com. Like to hear from you guys.

  4. Who could say about tonight. Between the rain, teenagers, etc.------

I want to say that MC has a stronger team but look at what happened last year. Some teams just match up different with others. Remember MC played Meigs and Polk strong until the 4th last year, and got spanked by Seq., who was not a good as those teams last year. I can't wait to watch the game. I give advantage to the home team.

Excellent post logcabinman. Very good points. By the way red, white, and blue, the fullback wasn't benched last year for lack of talent. He probably has more talent then most people on the team. The problem was lack of work ethic and a bad attitude about it. I am glad to see he is doing well this year. Congratulations to him and the Chiefs. Good luck to both teams tonight. Hope everyone stays injury free.

  5. Thug daddi,

I read your post on the other thread and I think it??™s a great idea to remind the Chargers of last years game if you want to ???inspire??? them to play their ???best??? game. I do not think last years game should be used to ???encourage??? them to try and ???punish??? the CHIEFS for the injury of one of your players nor for the celebration during the injury. The celebration was not about the injured player but about the almost miraculous win that was obviously about to happen. The CHIEFS were coached by an _._._._. last year. I know that many of the players were later scolded and lectured about that incident. Not by the _._._._. coach, but by parents who want their kids to be respectful of others. I don??™t remember the on-side kick you??™re talking about but I believe you. As I said earlier, our coach was an _._._._.! I??™ll be surprised to see any of the CHIEFS being disrespectful this year. We now have a quality head coach (Summey) with quality assistants. We??™ll bring a team steeped in good sportsmanship and respect. Win or lose, we??™ll be proud of our players attitudes after the game. Football shouldn??™t be just a sport or game. The right coaching staff can make it a life lesson.

This is Coach Holloway. I just want to say I am proud of the kids at SQHS. They are really good kids in spite of you. I know who you are CB Sr. and I don't appreciate being talked about on here like that. If you are any kind of man you will give your name and stop hiding behind red, white and blue. CB sr. You know, I get on here just to keep track of things because I really respect some the kids there. You are a lying sack of crap. You always said if you had a problem you would come to me but no, you get on here and constantly put me down. YOu talk about other people commenting on the Chiefs in a negative but you get on here and talk about me like I was a dog. I know you are mad because I benched your son and that is your right but you have no right to get on here and call me some of the things you did. You are a disgrace to Madisonville and Vonore. You are a poor excuse for a human being. I am going to ask that you please refrain from talking about me in this open forum. I want to wish the chiefs good luck and hope they stay injury free. Jake, Elisha, and others I think about you and how much class you guys have often. I wish you luck. I wish your situation was better. As far as you CB sr. I hope you rot in ----.

  6. QUOTE(trauma @ Jan 25 2007 - 08:56 AM) 826345135[/snapback]

I have watched this long enough. I have to get this off my chest. I was one of the 30 people interviewed at Sequoyah. If they continue to hire people in the unprofessional manner they did, they will never be successful. Let me explain why this process was so messed up.

(1)They interviewed 30 people. How can you tell one person from the other when you talk to 30 of them? Did they interview everybody that applied? The list should have been narrowed down before they had people take a day off of work and travel there.

(2)The interviews took place in 2 different rooms, in the principal’s office and an assistant principals office. They would shuffle the candidates back and forth.

(3)While I was talking with Mr. Moser (the principal), he would continue to answer phone calls, talk on the walkie-talkie and answer questions from the secretaries that continued to come in time after time.

(4)I never really got to answer any questions because all he did was complain about the former coach. He would pose a question this way…”How would you run practice, cause I am sure you wouldn’t ride around on a four-wheeler all the time and spend the whole practice time here at the main building”. Or “I am sure you will know how to answer this question by the way I phase it, How do handle discipline, cause the last coach did this…” and would go on and on about how the last coach was a screw up. This lasted 45 minutes, in which I maybe talked for 5.

(5)After that I was shuffled into another office to talk to the AD and Booster President. During this time people came in and out to put papers on the desk, switch out walkie-talkies and ask general questions of the AD.

(6)At one point the Mr. Moser walked back into the office WITH ANOTHER CANDIDATE to get info off of his desk while the candidate struck up a conversation with the AD.

(7)The AD went on and on about how has coached football at SQHS for 10 years and how he likes the Wing-T and all his accomplishments as a baseball coach.

(8)Most of his questions were worded “How would you do this, cause this is how I would do it” and then would explain how he handled it in baseball season or how he would do it if he was the head coach.

(9)After about 45 minuets of this junk, I politely excused myself and wished them the best of luck on their search.

(10)I think the thing I am most perturbed by is that they was no follow up on their part. No letter thanking me for my wasted time and wasted money spent. The least they could do was send a thanks but no thanks letter.

I truly believe the only way SQHS can be successful at football is to remove Mr. Moser and the AD from their position. If they will not do that, then they should be removed from the interviewing process cause neither of them have a professional bone in their body.

Now you notice I did not say one thing about the students, players or community or coaching staff (new and old). So do not respond to this post saying I hate the school or area, the two people involved in the interviewing process are incompetent as professionals.

Very well put coach. just as ELA said this whole set up is a farce. Summeys name was mentioned long before the former coach resigned. Is there a way I could contact you. I would like to talk to you about hte way the process was handled. No it is not Holloway, but if you care i am in the building and very concerned about some happenings in the school.

  7. And the new word is.

    Sharpe moves to ######. Principal

Trambel goes to the AD spot

And we all start back over again.

Mooser is set to have a meeting with the school board director on Friday 1-19-07

with the #1 prospect if all goes well we will have a COACH named then.

Not going to happen. I don't believe Sharp has the Masters Degree to be an Asst. Principal. Also certain school board members would never let this happen. You are right you will be starting all over again. Every year or two you will be starting over again. Good luck on the rest of it.

  9. I agree I think there is plenty of talent at Sequoyah to compete. There has been several players repesent SQHS in college over the past few years. I think that says a lot about the school. However, it is the present and not the past we are talking about. I watched Sequoyah play two games this past season and they played uninspired football in each game. They quit after the first drive against Sweetwater and they couldn't get anything going against Tellico except for turnovers. There has to be some players (not coaches) step up and be leaders and I didn't see that in the 2 games I seen.

Also, the stands were packed at the Sweetwater (home) and Tellico (away) games. I stood along the fence at each game. The support IS there. As far as the support from Vonore goes, when I played at Vonore the stands were packed with people that weren't parents of players or cheerleaders. You are correct that there is not a lot of support from Vonore, but to make a long story short the rivalry between Madisonville and Vonore still exists with some people. It is a known fact that most people in Vonore would love to have a new high school of their own.

From what I am hearing the only names being mentioned out there are former Vonore coaches. You know that will surely cure the problem a Vonore coach. After all look at the only Vonore Coach that works at SQHS now. He has a heck of a baseball program and does a wonderful job as AD. That is just what SQHS needs another Vonore coach. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Coach Holloway was a good guy; he didn’t really have a chance at Sequoyah.

Thanks Gibson. You are right he never really had a chance. I hope someone will give him a chance and leave him alone long enough to build a program. He is a very great person and good football coach. He really works hard and has made me a better person and player. IF someone will give him a chance I don't believe they will be dissappointed in the way he relates and motivates kids. He also works harder than anyone I have ever been around when it comes to his program and getting what it needs to become successful.

  11. At around 12:15 today the Head Football Coach at Sequoyah High School officially resigned. In a tearful resignation statement to the players Coach Holloway officially resigned to the players. Last week rumors and tempers were high about this topic, but now it is official. I want to thank Coach Holloway for all he has done for me and my family. He is a great man and would give you the shirt off his back to help you. Good luck to him wherever he may end up. We will miss him deeply. What a mistake to let him get away. Whether his resignation was forced or not we willnever really know boy either way it was a huge mistake. Thanks Monroe County. YOu have done it again.

  12. First of all I want to say that this is the real Coach Holloway. I have been away in North Carolina for the past several days and am totally shocked at what has been done to me and the SQHS football team. I did not post under the Bama 14 handle but I do know who and how it has impacted the situation at SQHS. I want to go on the record and say that all of you are entitled to your opinions about me but you need to leave the kids out of this. My team was never taught to play dirty and were punshed if they did. This is for the Meigs County fans who want to ttalk without really having a clue. I have talked to Coach Martin and he told me he does not feel that anything was done in the game except the cut block that was dirty. By the way that player was punished and did not reenter the game because of his actions. Coach Martin was upset about something the local paper published about his team arguing and called them to set the record straight. I am doing the same to some of you Meigs faithful. If you want to hide behind a screen name and talk about dirty play and such then that is your right but you need to look in the mirror before you put someone else down. If you have never made a mistake then good for you. I never have and never will condone that type of behavior. I want to thank Coach Martin, many officials and other coaches for the compliments that they have given me and my team.

Secondly, the job situation at SQHS has been discussed but as usual someone with only half the story blew things out of proportion. I went to MR. Moser and told him as a courtesy that I had been asked to interview for another position in North Carolina as an assistant principal for much more money. All he told me was that he did not blame me for doing that. From there things just got blown out of proportion with typical message board lies and misinformation. To set the record straight their will be a meeting Monday with the Director of schools and Principal to make any decisions that they or myself may make about my future at SQHS. No matter what the outcome of this meeting I will handle it in a professional manner not on a message board.

For all of you people who want to say that I am an idiot, etc. Thank you for directing that at me and not any of my players. As long as you are on me then everyone else is getting a break. I hope someday you will have the opportunity to meet me and let me show you that I am really just a good guy that spends more time with my players than most of the parents have the opportunity to spend. One thing I will say is that those kids do not deverve to be put down in some of the post like you have done. This should be directed at me not at them.

If anyone wants to quite being a chicken and get out from behind the screen names please feel free to let me know. I will be glad to talk to you about anything you want to say as long as you leave the kids out of it.

Lastly I would like to say I have lost a lot of respect for MC because of the way that you guys have acted on here. I assure Bama 14 will not post on this board again. I ahve the guts to use my own name why can't you. Diva 4 Life you are a coward and I know who you are. JC. Thanks for your time.

Jeff Hollloway, Head Football Coach Sequoyah High School.

Coach I would like to apologize for my post. You are right it just needs to be handled in house and not on here.

  13. You mean before they went 1-19 under him?

As ususal you go off at the mouth without knowing the facts. RT 21 CB Trap I wish you would have learned some lessons in class from your coach. Obviously coaches can't do everything as your wasn't able to teach you to have some dignity and class. THe man worked his tail off and without much help from the system. I am sure Meigs is embarressed to have someone like you claimming to be a fan and former player.

  14. Maybe you will find yourself another job coach. But the game I saw ya'll play your team was anything but disciplined.

Remember one thing nosey it was hard for a coach to run a team that was being micromanaged by the AD and administration as they were. Not sure what game you saw but you bviously didn't see them before the last couple of years. By the way I am not a coach I was a player.

  15. After only 2 years SQHS football coach has been released from his coaching duties. Word has it that no real reason was given. This team had shown steady improvement but just couldn't get over the win hump. The team had developed discipline, and a good work ethic. They also started a ton of young kids and was on the way to being a good team. Is two years really a fair amount of time for anyone to build a program. Sequoyah has had at least 5 coaches since it open 11 years ago. Take a look at the situation and see if you really think Hollaway was treated fairly. Get real Monroe County. You are developing another situation like Telico Plains. Good luck and good job on screwing the players and the coaches. My heart goes out to the coach and his family. First they move here and take a pay cut then he becomes a victim of the Monroe County politics.

  16. bama 14 you seem to try to say meigs took some cheap shots--youve got to be kidding --that is the most undiscleplined football team i have ever seen. there is a reason the program is in the shambles that it is ---nice cheap shot on charlie mobriant on the kickoff --the sequoyah player went right for the knees --it didnt matter to sequoyah because they are going home as usual--but trying to take players out is classless---both players hurt were clean hits and you know it --oh yeah nice move putting your starters in with 1 minute left to get a score on meigs freshman hope you felt good about that. --and concerning the interception called back are you serious that was as blatant as could ever be---sequoyah needs to worry a whole lot more on class and clean play as well as getting to be competitive instead of worrying about referees and acting classless on the sidelines.

Lambert no one said they were cheap shots. They were good clean solid licks. If you didn't notice the kid that blocked below the waist was taken from the game for his actions and chewed on very well. Also if you would care to notice the coach also called his players together and told them if they did not keep it clean they would be punished. Sequoyah has class, but you've got to admit the officiating was horrible. It would not have changed the outcome of the game. Meigs was the better team, but the officials were the ones that let the play get like it did. I am not here to argue, but if you want to call Sequoyah classless then you should tell your players when they make a good play not to taunt like they did the QB when he was hit. Meigs is a good program and if given time Sequoyah will reach a good competitive level. The last touchdown you gripe about was all of the seniors one last play together. Sorry if it offended you but you were ahead 39-8 at the time. Did that TD really matter. I also would like to know how the Sequoyah sidelines were classless. It wasn't something that was meant to be classless. It was something for the kids. Good luck in the playoffs and I would like to see Coach Martin and his staff win it all.

  17. Not a chance. Playing and beating Meigs at home is a very hard thing to do. It's kinda like the swamp. It's a tough place to win. Meigs will be on their A Game and be ready for this team. Meigs will surprise you. If you work all week on shuttin down the run, you will be surprised by their amazing passing and passing routes ran by recievers. If you work on just pass, boy your in for a time. And if you try to practice both, your just gonna run out of time. Its gonna be a good game, don't get me wrong. Meigs is definitely a second half team, and they will win at their home place. They wont let the fans thats been with them all year down. But if they do get beaten by Sycamore, they will go down fighting. They will not lay down one bit. They are not a team when you get a 2Td lead that will lay down. Thats when they battle the hardest. I know Meigs side will be packed and I hope we see a big crowd from Sycamore. Meigs had alot of hard hits against Sequoyah tonight, laying like 5 or 6 out. Good luck to both teams and to sycamore, have a good trip. You will be treated with the upmost respect. We are very sportsman like and hope to see a hard fought game won between whoever wants it the most. I believe Meigs has big advantage being home. Very high fan support

    Meigs Wins

    Sycamore 14

    Meigs 28

    GO TIGERS

Meigs is a good fundamental and solid team. They don't make many mistakes and are not one demensional. They hit hard and are very well coached. I will say though that Gator can't count. Sequoyah lost 2 players during the game. One was the QB on a helmet to helmet tackle after his knees were on the ground. The other was a receiver who took a shot in the back going across the middle. The biggest thing to deal with at Meigs County is the 14 or so points that belong to the officials when you get there. Yes Meigs is a tough place to play but the officials do not make it any easier. Don't even try and defend the pass because if you intercept it it will be called pass interference. Oh well good luck to both teams. Sycamore beware of the stripes.

  18. same song different verse meigs will be facing a team that has as much or probably more athletes than they have. the key here is can meigs get their toughness back and attitude back of something to prove . I have seen sequoyah early in the year and can tell you they are bigger and faster than meigs--could pose some problems.

Very well put Lambert. Meigs is a solid team that does not make many mistakes. Sequoyah could pose some problems if they play the way they played last week against Howard. Sequoyah is definantly the Jeckyl and Hyde of the region. Which team will Meigs face is the question.

  19. Meigs will be hosting Sequoyah this Thursday night. I think this will be good for Meigs playing a team like this the last game of the year. Maybe Meigs can get alot of subs in this game to keep our key players fresh and ready for the playoffs. This is an advantage Meigs has over Polk and ND, these two collide on Friday. I say Meigs over Sequoyah in a breeze

    Meigs 42

    Sequoyah 0 :thumb:

The game has been moved to Friday in hopes of better weather. The gasme could be better than people think. It really depends on which Sequoyah team shows up. They can be pretty good at times, but at other times they can really stink it up. Turnovers will be the key. Sequoyah has nothing to lose and all the pressure is on Meigs county. Should be interesting to see how this one turns out.

  20. Sequoyah got blew out last week 34-6 and the six they did score was on Tellico's jv. Grundy will run away with this one! 27-7

Don't let that game fool you. It was a big rival; game and if Tellico can go 1-9 and beat Sequoyah they are happy. Sequoyah turned the ball over 9 times. They had close to 300 yards of total offense. The game was much closer that the score indicated. Besides I do remember the score being Tellico 14 - 0 at halftime with Grundy. Grundy did come out in the second half and beat them, but you can't compare apples and oranges. Should be a good close game. Both teams are in a slump but both are also class acts and the coaches work hard. Soundws like Grundy may have parents like Sequoyah has. No wait there could only be one place in the world that bad. SQHS!!!! Good luck to both teams.

  21. I really think it depends on which Grundy and Sequoyah Team shows up. This could be a good close game. The team with the fewest mistakes will probably win this one. Since it is such a long drive for Grundy I have to give the edge to the chiefs. Sequoyah 26 - Grundy 14.

  22. Im going with polk on this one. They don't have Hamby anymore, but still a very talented team. I believe the wildcats will edge Loudon with a 14-10 win. But main focus is on this game. Week 7 will be a tough game between Meigs and yourselves. But the way meigs is lookin, polk boys better step it up. Meigs has a runnin back with almost 700 yards in four games, a powerback at that. he is 6 ft 225 lbs. and runs a 4.6 prepare boys and get ready for loudon then worry bout region championship in meigs

If Meigs has a power back than runs a 4.6, then they have hid him well. I agree they have some talented players but 4.6. Coach Martin himself says they could be better if they could outrun syrup.
