  1. Sounds like they are trying to do this. See above.
  2. So it comes down to Science Hill, DB, South Doyle, and William Blount in AAA. I know SD has lost to DB twice and Science Hill once. They have beaten WB 3 of 4. How do the others stack up in previous meetings. I,m sure DB mom will whip out those stats for me. STAT MACHINE that one is. OH and GOOO KEEES!
  3. Thanks PTSports. So that leaves Science Hill- DB- South-Doyle and William Blount in East Tenn AAA. Kinda what I thought would happen, but you never know.
  4. Fairly reliable source had WB beating Halls 10-0. Anyone know for sure?
  5. Correct. See East Tennessee thread
  6. Anyone know about Science Hill and Cocke County?
  7. HMMM. So he was quitting the team before this game took place and left a kid in to pitch 11 consecutive innings and gets penalized /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Does anyone else have a problem with this?
  8. South Doyle elimanates Oak Ridge tonight 4-0 on a four hit performance by Chad Bell. No Fireworks from the KEE bats, but just solid hits. Updates as you know them please. OH and GO KEES.
  9. It shows the character of the PF coach I think.
  10. I noticed you said IF the kid can pitch. Rules were placed there to prevent a coach from riding a kids arm to victories. The PF pitcher was obviously dominant. I'm sure the Rutledge kids realize this, but it is like playing with an illegal player. The blame needs to be shifted back to the PF coach and not accuse Rutledge of "crying". You have to admit 11 straight innings on a 17 or 18 year old arm is bad. Coach you have to be an advocate at his time.
  11. The question that comes to me is if Pigeon Forge was winning that big why was the pitcher still in? Also never ask the ump about tournament play rules! They get paid to call the game not regulate the tourney.
  12. Congrats Gibbs Eagles. You guys are starting to make some noise in AA. Who do you play next from D4. I here the PALACE is a great place to play BB.
  13. So it appears that Science Hill / DB / Mo West/ Cocke County/ South Doyle/ William Blount/ Halls/ Oak Ridge are left alive in 1-4. How about 5? I was thinking about AAA when I began this thread, but I would like to hear about A and AA also. Thanks guys for all the info.
  14. Eww that was bad. It should have said humble in victory. I've gotta start proofreading these a little better /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
  15. Who is advancing in districts 1-5? A lot of good teams in East Tennessee and I would like to hear from people who have seen them play and scores updated when possible. Please don't resort to bashing one another and have this thread shut down like the 4aaa thread was done today. Be gracious in defeat and humble in defeat and as the DRAGNET detective said "Just the facts maam" South Doyle won tonight beating William Blount for the district 4 title. I was not there so anyone fill me in please. Halls, Oak Ridge, and West still in the hunt for 3AAA. DB fighting for their lives in their district. Lets just inform and not bash please. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

South Doyle wins 2-0 over William Blount. Holland struck out 16 over 7 innings and allowed 1 hit. The Cherokees had only 3 hits, but a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the 6th by Brentz was the dagger. William Blount pitcher was very good also and probably had 8 or 9 strikeouts. Roberts and Zurcher had the other 2 hits for the Kees, but a real pitching display by Holland lead the Kees to victory. As you have already heard Lenior City elimanated Farragut tonight. Just goes to show that when tourney time rolls around you never know. Congrats to Maryville who will now play Lenior City and the winner to face William Blount. Keep rolling KEES!
  17. Whew DB mom you are a stat machine. All this research must be exhausting. Take a deep breath. Allow the good air in. Bad air out. Good air in . Bad air out. There don't you feel better. Go out and watch the DB guys play the greatest game on earth. Now don't calculate the #4 batters OBA against left handers whos first name starts with C and know with confidence that if said left hander throws a curveball on the 3rd pitch said #4 hitter will drive a standup double into the LC gap. Good luck to those DB young men and I never bet on any sporting events cause you can't predict heart and desire. Let me leave you with one more little stat from todays games. Lenior City just eliminated Bearden from the playoffs--- check out their records all you want but that calculator brain and that attorney type rhetoric can't change this fact. Farragut had that certain intangible last year. Who has it this year? This is why the games are played. Good luck to you and the DB men unless you are playing the Kees. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  18. DB mom You obviously did a lot of research and I applaud your stat loving mind. The problem that occurs with any research is researchers bias. For instance, how many of these W-L occured in a weekend tourney before the weeks district games? And with this in mind, how strong is your district, and how important is it to win said district as opposed to weekend tourney. Just thoughts from a baseball fan, but I am still impressed by your research which would have taken me several hours not counting my slow typing abilities. Oh and by the way I hope the PETA people don't see your post about the cats. You will be put on their call list. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  19. and usually it means that the pitcher is breaking something wicked off and fooling the hitter and at times the catcher.
  20. usually a passed ball by the catcher or an error, but still a K for the pitcher.

I think it comes down to coaching. Coach Pharr and Coach Howard have been doing this for a long time. Farragut always has a deep talent pool. The younger age competitive teams from that are are outstanding. I believe they cultivate baseball players like Maryville does football players. You have to have a good youth program to feed the high schools. Coach Howard knows how to coach em up when they get there, but the strong youth teams from south Knox are not as plentiful. Maryville still plays Little League baseball in their area and Blount County teams find it hard to be competitive against the really good competition. This is just an opinion that I have formed in the last few years of watching youth sports in this area. Youth coaches are really important and can make or break a high school team

Games at South Doyle rescheduled today. Bearden / LC Sunday 12ish and SD / Maryville 3ish. I would think with the way it is raining here in East Tennessee that many games will be postponed today. Oh and GO KEES!
  23. true see quote about East Tennessee state champs last several years. Guess who is in their district if you didn't already know? And if they get by 4AAA they have 3AAA and if they win there they could see Kingsport DB, Mo West, Science Hill, Etc. Maybe this is why State Champs last few years are State Champs. They have to be good, deep, and lucky to make it to the boro. Good luck to all except when you play the Kees.
