  1. I get the point. My point was not to get too worked up over it. There can always be negative comments, polls that are flawed for various reasons, biased opinions, etc. As an outsider with no dog in the hunt, Cookeville had a great run last season. Just win and try your best not to worry about things you cannot control. Good luck tonight.

It’s just silly that people on here would say stuff like…shouldn’t be on the list….didn’t even know they were on the list…definitely should not be ranked above White county….Upperman should be ranked higher and Cookeville should not be ranked……No way Cookeville is even in the conversation as a top 20 team.

Seriously??  Let us remember why….  32-2 last season.  Lost in state tournament semifinal.  Return two of their best players and an unbelievable freshman class.   I am not going to get on here and say they belong in the top 5 or whatever.  That will be decided in March.  But the disrespect is just crazy!   They play anybody, anywhere!  They don’t hide from anyone.  They show up every night, play great defense, and you better bring you A game if you think you are going to get a win.  Ok venting over….

Cookeville had a tremendous season last year. It is always a great experience playing in the glass house. However, last year means very little this year and no one remembers who lost in the semifinals last year. Returning two great players is always nice but you need more. I am not even going to get into having a great freshman class. Cookeville has a tough schedule this season. You are probably right that they are not hiding. However, they are not looking either. No Coffee County, no Bradley, no one from outside of the general middle Tennessee area. And showing up every night, how did the Blackman game go????? Don't vent over respect. It is earned over a period of time. Polls mean nothing except a means to getting people worked up over. How about starting with winning the district this year and going from there.

  3. Flea your original question asked if this LA was the greatest of all time. Hard to compare teams now with teams from the past or even this year. All the what ifs and match ups etc would be hard to compare. For the argument that teams in the past were not as athletic as todays teams, I would argue that todays teams wouldn't have made it out of the first half with teams of the past. While kids today may be more athletic, kids of the past were much much more tough. Is this the greatest team ever in TN, short answer is no. I will leave it at that.

  4. Awesomebro that makes perfect sense. I also grew up CoC. Never really thought others were wrong, just different beliefs and interpretations. Still go to CoC but like your church you wouldn't ever see it in plain sight or hear it.

Appreciate the response, gives me a better idea of where you are coming from. Congrats on the win.

  5. Theawesomebro I have no idea who you are so don't take this any certain way, just curious, are you a CoC member somewhere? Do you believe the mission is being carried out in a positive way?

I agree what Dilfer did in such a short amount of time is pretty remarkable. I think he did more than most thought he would.

As to where they go from here, why not just hire from within? Dilfer can't possibly take everyone with him and as long as there is still funding keeping the staff intact seems logical. Or do you think they go with another name as a new face of the program?

  6. Been keeping an eye on this one. Interesting read. Some interesting names on the list. I don't see Stewart leaving EN for Gallatin. No offense and not knocking the greenwave, but why would he leave EN at this point. Back to back state championship appearances, he is an East Nashville guy, and better pay. I could see a former East Nashville area coach applying. His new district just might sweep him. No knock on him but his new district is tough.

Caine is interesting. Definitely knows how to win. Perry seems to always be rumored to be looking. Does a good job at Mt Juliet but not sure he would be a good fit. One name not mentioned I don't believe that gets mentioned for smaller schools would be Hackett from H2O. No idea if he is interested but he is well respected.

No doubt the greenwave will get a good coach. Yall need to get this one right and get back on track. Good luck to yall.

Last, whoever said not getting Alexander was biggest mistake.....my outsiders opinion not getting Creasy is the biggest mistake.

  7. I agree Dilfer did a great job at LA. Made LA much more competitive and won  a state championship, maybe another to come. I just don't think the culture changed or any type of foundation laid. The foundation was laid long ago. My outsiders opinion is that LA changed their priorities and started to sink a lot of money into the program. Nothing wrong with that and the current outcome shows. Interested in seeing who they hire.

  8. Outsiders opinion here....those saying Dilfer changed the culture, built a foundation, etc: did the culture really change or did the financial commitment change? Did Dilfer really build a foundation or was it McCadams? I suggested a few weeks ago that a time would come to gauge if it was all worth it. That time is now.

interesting thought.  I know dilfer wont stay for ever and teams success is up and down but what would it look like to be not worth it?  i'm truly curious.  we have to get all our dilfer/lipscomb tattoo's removed????  : )

Well I'll start by stating I'm pretty sure the good book says not to get a tattoo in the first place. What would it look like to not be worth it.....I guess you would need to ask those in charge. Dilfer has turned the program around no doubt. Has the will to win come at a cost other than financially? Not my place to answer as I'm not connected.

  10. Wonder what Tiilman could have done with the same resources LA has now. No way to know for sure, but the results probably would have been at least a little better. LA decided to go in another direction and change philosophy which is fine. Obviously the results show. LA is arguably the best team in TN. Sure all involved are happy as they should be. Time will tell if it was all worth it.

  11. Midtnfb I agree with you. McDaniel laid a great foundation for Creasy to work with. Obviously Creasy has taken it to the level they are at now. Creasy is arguably the best coach in TN, but it's due to many factors such as support, facilities, and of course players.

For those talking about players, top to bottom Oakland typically has better talent but the margin is closing with Blackman. Blackman has arguably the best youth league in the state. I think the middle school beat Oakland this year. So we shall see if Oakland continues their dominance. As long as Creasy and staff remain, I think they carry on as has become usual.

At the bottom, LHS has a great coaching staff, arguably behind Oakland. But they don't get the talent most think they do. There are a lot of obstacles that a school like LHS faces that the others do not.

Good luck to the patriots this week.

  12. Saw the videos that have been posted. Tough call to make either way. With that said, I see a new policy/rule coming out soon regarding fans and their proximity to the field of play. The behavior by adults was ridiculous and one of the many reasons why we have a shortage of officials. It's sad when a grown man has to be held back by a player.

The winner of Blackman vs Oakland will be your state champs

Come on now. Easy for you to say that. Heck Lebanon could have said that too. Blackman is getting better and playing well, all anyone could ask for. But until you beat a top five team please don't act like you are one.
