  1. Hey VG or Yanker...I'm sure you were at the game and I'm just curious. What happened to the linebackers for JCM? They are suppose to be some of the best in West TN if not the state and it seems like they made little or no impact on this game. Are all the linebackers seniors to where games like this might affect recruiting? I knew to expect JCM to struggle on offense, but not to hear about teams running it down their throats like some of this thread suggest.

  2. Is there still a rule about the band playing while the opposing team is on offense, or has it been done away with? I think there ussed to be a ruling on this, but I don't know if it still applies.

  3. Hey VG sorry to hear about the loss, but if you remember on another thread, I said Munford had a shot at the region title and you shot me down cold. Now what do you have to say about it? It seems all the transfers have taken over many of the original Munford players positions, which can cause problems with parents and players contentment. Maybe winning can keep the rumbling down and they can go far. But regardless, Munford is basically a whole new team this year from what I can see.

  4. If you'd like to meet me face to face I'd be glad to share my sources.

Chill out, dude. I was the one who asked about coaching because if it is a close game it can come down to coaching, play calling, and the players who you have on the field during certain situations. I really know nothing about both coaches except the fact that I have heard the JCS coach being critiqued on his play calling by radio announcers and fans. Maybe that is the price you pay for having so much media coverage. But anyway...it was a harmless post asking about the coaching of both teams. There is no need to get threatening about it. :(

  5. In my opinion......

It's worse when a coach thinks an "average" player is "the second coming."

I know this is rare, but it's extremely annoying. Not everyone lives up to the constant hype.

I prefer a hard worker over someone with "potential" anyday. Potential is something that has not happened yet. Hard work gets it done.

Thanks to the players that give 100% every Friday night. They are the reason we put up with all the other annoyances.

You can say that again. Last year we had a guy who could do no wrong in the coach's eyes. It was so obvious that the other players called him Jesus. He kept quitting and the coach let him come back because the team "needed" him. Well, last year he only played in 4 games, but he got one of the biggest awards at banquet, and then quit football for good.

But be nicer to the dads. The parent in our stands who thinks their child can do no wrong is a mom.

  6. The purpose of playing the game is ultimately to win. Everyone on the team, in the stands, and yes, even the cheerleaders and the band should do what they can to encourage their team so that winning is the outcome. If you are there for any other reason, maybe you need to rethink why you came.

And mustang man....if you think the players can hear you yell pass from the stands, then you must either have a megaphone for a mouth or your stands must be a lot closer to the field than ours are.

Josh...I think your paper does a decent job during football season, but your baseball coverage...no wait, what baseball coverage. It`s simply hard to believe how bad your baseball coverage is. I mean it is virtually non-existent. What is it exactly that y`all do during the spring? Because y`all sure aren`t out working and covering baseball. Sitting at your desk and waiting for scores to be called in is not what they teach in journalism school.

In their defense...baseball is not the only spring sport, there is softball, soccer, and track that have to be covered also. Where as in the fall there is footall which gets the great majority of coverage. But, you also have to realize that volleyball and girls soccers are going on right now, too, and those sports want coverage and get really very little because football is so big. Personally, I would like to think the reason baseball gets so little coverage is that Josh needs some r & r after covering NS Lady Indian basketball...its quite a ride. :o

  8. The 6'6" DE came moved to Munford from Frayser not East, be carefull you know what your talking about before you run off at the mouth.

Sorry dude, I wasn't the one who started the talk of the new Munford players being illegal....but I did know they had a big new DE and a running back because we scouted them and saw it for ourselves. If the players are legal, there is no reason to be so testy. If there not, well.... :o

  9. Bands who think you came to the game to see them :D instead of the game you paid good money to see.

Fans who think they have to yell PASS, SWEEP or any other play the opponent is running thinking their players can hear them.

Parents who think this is an individual sport for their child and do not realize that all the guys are trying their best. The line is trying to block, the defense is trying to wrap-up a tackle. Parents do not need to critique other people's children from the stands.

People trying to sneak a smoke in the stands - we can smell you!!! :D

  10. we will have northside on the air for tinights game of the week @ southside should be a good game between to improving teams on 101.5, coverage starts @ 6pm. Good luck to both teams. Sea Bass :thumb:

Unfortunately, it wasn't the kind of game you wanted, but since we were missing so many players it was no surprise to us. Hopefully next week will be better, but the news of Munford and rumors of players transferring in from East is a concern. Thanks for the coverage Sea Bass...hope to see you again

  11. Apparently Munford has some new players this year that followed the coach from Memphis East. Someone posted on another topic that they are being provided houses and one of the dads is being paid. If this rumor is true, I feel sorry for the true "Munford" players. But can this be proven???

  12. I heard they were illegal transfers, rumor mill has it that they are giving them houses and paying one of the dads.

I figured something had to be up with that, but if they get caught is another thing. Our scouts that went and saw Munford last week said they could possibly go from last in our region to give the region title a run for its money. They have a DE from East that is about 6'6" and a running back that I know of. It amazes me at what people think they can get by with.

  13. What do you want to know? My family loves it and wishes it could come out more often. I also like the way it uses high school athletes as its reporters and tries to get everyone involved. I think West TN is lucky to have a magazine llike this. From what I hear, it is trying to expand to other areas.

  14. I believe it is a state law that there is no smoking on a school campus. Designated smoking areas are not allowed - at least that is how it is in the district where I teach. But the rule may change if it is an off-campus stadium.

  15. This game is becoming a great rivalry. Every year it is close and is not decided until the last seconds tick off. DCA was huge, but had trouble containing JCS's speed. Both teams should have successful seasons. Look for JCS to be good down the road, playing many underclassmen who were in on many tackles, primarily Ben Cooper and Heath Thompson.
