You heard wrong with just plain old bad information that's not even close to being the truth. I think the shame ought to be on you for trying to start something. First of all, Dyer has great integrity and very much respect for the players. He is a class act that would not stoop or embarass his players by doing something so dumb. He is an adult and understands that even though we all take baseball serious, it is still a game, and has to be kept in that perspective. You win some and you lose some. You work on your weakness and always focus on the future not the past. GP and Marion got good wins and I wish them the best. That still does not take away the fact that the USJ baseball team lead by Coach Dyer is a fine, and successful team. They are an incredibly young team that will be back in the thick of things for many years to come.
  2. They just got beat. I think it was like a boxer getting tagged hard in the first round, and never quite regained his balance. USJ didn't appear to play like the normally do, at all. Too many runners left on base. I guess that's why we play a tourny versus just handing out awards. They are still one heck of a baseball team that is incredibly young. Expect them to be back in the hunt for the next several years. Don't get me wrong, GP and Marion are the finest caliber teams and deserve the wins they get. As far as the brackets, there are better ways of determining the seeds than drawing out of a hat. But there's another thread on that.

Just remember, it is double elimination, although I admit USJ's path just got a little steeper. Remember last year, the hill the both GP and USJ had to climb to make it to the end? That's the stuff that seperates the true championship caliber teams from the wannabes. There is no disgrace in getting beat at this level, unless you didn't perform to your cababilities.

I always say it's hard to do a lot of talking when your mouth of full of backy juice... /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> I don't know who is pitching today. I don't have any trustworthy contacts anymore. They treat me as an outsider, and only give me info on a need to know basis. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Yesterday they pitched three guys, so they still have 5 or 6 they can use today. After that, they will have to get the younger kids to pitch some. See ya , and watch out for those watermelon trucks. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Hey MoTe! I wish I was there as well. At least we are there in spirit if not in body. The Bruins have been relatively quiet this year and are definitely tired of being the brides's maid. They seem to be very focused on what they have to do. We all wish them luck. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  7. I agree Rudy, that was an awesome game that could have went either way. 9 innings if I remember correctly. I wish all championships could be that good. I sure would like to see a rematch between those two in the final game. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  8. Normally, I would not agree with any lawman out there, but tonight you took the words out of my mouth. USJ all the way! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  9. Congrats to the tigers, so far. I wouldn't give all the credit to the coach though. It's probably better that he not seek the glory lights just yet. It's the kids that stepped up despite controversey all around them. Go Tigers.
  10. Both Dyersburg and Dyer cty had good teams, but Ripley and USJ pulled it out and head on to the next level. Better luck next year.
  11. Looks like former champs Ripley and USJ have advanced to the next level. Although Ripley may be a long shot, you can't overlook them. I would not be surprised at all to see USJ and Goodpasture meet at the final game again. But wait, weren't those the same teams winning back in 1A before the multiplier rule? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  12. Tell Dyer to bring his rule book for entertainment! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  13. I was driving through town, saw the boys playing, so I swung in to take a peak. Ripley has some young players and seems to have lots of heart. USJ seemed to capilize on every weak spot or error Ripley made. It was a beautiful night for baseball. I will say that USJ was like a hitting machine the last half of the game. I guess tomorrow night will be in Jackson, good luck to both teams.
  14. Looking at the bigger picture (no pun intended), we are talking about an age for curve balls. Consider this, in high school, I see way too many kids with rotator cuff and elbow problems. Not from curves, but from things like 1)improper or no warm up, 2)poor pitching form (from throwing too hard), and 3) too many pitches. I'm talking about the top 10%, the ones that might play at the next level, but are the ones getting the raw end of the deal, just to win for their Coach, dad, or themselves. Nobody want to hurt these kids, but it happens. There is not an easy solution to correct this other than education.
  15. Ready to have a little fun. I still think many are underestimating the Bruins. Might be interesting. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
