  1. PageMan, I was not trying to intimidate anyone with the statistics. That's actually the only statistics I had. I wish I had more. I would like to know more about MC's team. I know they have a good coach and obviously a good team or they would not be this far in the tourney. I think they had a few state championships in the early 90's. http://www.tbca.org/TBR%20State%20Record%2...WINS%20(CAREER) The TBCA website has Coach George listed as the third most winning coach. Quite an impressive feat. He definately has staying power to coach that long. Congrats. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Mike Ritz, Dobyns-Bennett 807-307 current thru '06 Ketron (140-73), Sullivan North (113-49) DB (554-185) Joe George, Marshall County 729-238 current thru '06 Good luck to MC, but I still wouldn't discount USJ. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  2. It promises to be a good game. I like the fact that both teams had a healthy amount of 3AAA games in their schedule. You get better by playing up, IMO. USJ Scored 376 runs to their opponents 132. That averages to 8.9 runs per game by the Bruins versus 3.1 by their competition. That equates to a powerful offense and a tight defense with great pitching depth. (check out the competion in their schedule this year-impressive). Marshall Cty. Scored 262 runs to their opponents 166. That averages to 6.6 runs per game by MC versus 4.2 by their competition. During tournament time, you can throw all the previous numbers out the window, but it will be very tough to get past the seasoned but young USJ team. MC will have to play good defense and their sticks have to work all game. They are very capable, but they will have to bring it, IMO. I can't wait to see it live!
  3. Now ole Jose has been known to start a little spittin' this time of year, so I would advise you not to wear white or sit downwind. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  4. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.. A peanut's throw,huh. Now I'll be paranoid tonight, looking over my shoulder. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I guess I can look for the one Memphis fan in a sea of Bruins. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Good luck, and I'll be looking for you.
  5. Well it is Baseball, and anything can happen. Remember, USJ's district, 14AA, had Ripley 26:10 lose to Covington 5:16. And in the region, Dyer County beat Dyersburg, back to back. Stuff that is not supposed to happen does! That being said, Mr. Highheat, I would be willing to make a little Pete Rose Wager on the game tonight. My money is on USJ heads up. If I only knew who you were so I could collect or pay off. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  6. I see what you saying Fanman, but I think it is much harder for them to get out of the district and then the region before they get a easy step. They were challenged much more this year and last year to get to the sub state level, than they were in 1A. Not to belittle the 1A at all, but the competition was just tougher to move up in 2A. Of course in the district last year, was Covington, and that was stout competition for everyone. In any case, good luck to all the remaining teams.
  7. Even though the Bruins bats were a little slow to get started, they still looked mighty tough tonight. Those boys are on a mission. Awesome game Preston. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Dyer Cty. still should not be overlooked. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  8. I can't wait to see how Preston does after he hits his growth spurt. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> On top of everything, he is a really nice kid. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  9. Both John Wills and Benjie Fesmire are fine athletes that have not gotten the attention they deserve, yet. John makes plays all around, diving catches, homeruns, bunts, you name it he's there and getting better all the time. Benjie has a wicked stick and has become an accomplished pitcher. Not overpowering, but good change in speed and hits his spots. Throws a lot of ground balls resulting in 3 to 6 pitch innings. Again, he is getting better all the time as well. Good luck guys!
  10. 7:00 p.m. Come on over. Nice cool night in a nice facility to watch a good ballgame. Should be fun. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  11. We appreciate your broadcast! Keep up the good work! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. Do you really mean that? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> The majority of posters are parents, coaches, players, etc... I promise you, they respect the kids. I love sports, and I have a great deal of respect for most aspects of the game of baseball. Without question, I respect the kids out there playing. Most have to work hard to achieve their results. How can an adult not respect a kid working hard to better himself? If you don't respect the players, then you need to find another sport to follow other than high school baseball. Dude,That's sad.
  13. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> That would not take much class to improve.

    USJ Wins!

Congratulations to all the Bruins! Way to stay alive. Don't overlook a very stout Dyer County team. If I remember correctly, USJ has not had a good showing with the Choctaws the last two years. Better not look past this team. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  15. BB guy, looks like you can't pickum, not even close. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> USJ 14, Dyersburg 4.
  16. This information should be in Saturday's edition of the Jackson Sun.
  17. I really thought Dyersburgs strength was hitting. In any case, Monday's game will be a tough one for each side. Neither team would be at this point if they were not very capable. The last meeting of these two teams on March 12th was 2-1 in favor of the Bruins. I suspect each team has improved dramatically since that game. I will be surprised if this is a high scoring game. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  18. This starter is talented, and well respected. I am sure nobody involved intentionally snubbed him. The coach changed tactics for the game at hand. Both pitchers are great, but also have different talents. That flexability is what makes the USJ pitching staff strong and dangerous. I actually think our guy has been a secret weapon flying under the attention radar. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> One thing that seperates this team from most, is they truly are focused and working together to win as a team. The kids are tight, and are strong for it. It's never about "my turn".
  19. Region 7 District 13AA Dyer County 1 seed Dyersburg 2 seed District 14AA USJ 1 seed Covington 2 seed
  20. Congrats to "Big John". He put his body on the line to make plays when it counted. For those that don't know him, he lets his actions speak for him. Great kid doing a great job, and only a sophmore. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> USJ has quite a bright future over the next several years. However, there is still some business left to tend to this year. As the 14AA district champions, the rest of the Bruins are fired up and ready to go on to the region. Congrats and good luck! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  21. I heard some speculation that the "SuperFreshman" may pitch. I think they are keeping the "Benj" as a well kept surprise secret. He has had a great year so far and keeps flying under the radar. Nuff said. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I suspect Covington's pitching has been well worked this week, so I am only guessing, but I bet they pitch everybody a little.
  22. Well, before last night, Ripley was 26-10-1, and Covington was 5-15. Ripley had beat them the last three matches. However, Coach Geno Miller planned his pitching and attack to accomplish just what he did. An unanticpated win. I was not really expecting it, but I was not shocked either. That's baseball, and that's why we play them instead of just writing them in a book. Now, the odd thing is the 2006 state AA champion and runner-up are playing tonight for the 14AA championship. How far will each team go this year? It could get interesting. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  23. I'm leaning towards Dyersburg, 27-8, over Dyer Co. 28-10. I think Dyersburg has the deeper pitching. However, Dyersburg better come ready to play from the start. With these district rivalries you can throw records out the window and it will go to who wants it the most. Just look at last nights 14AA game between Ripley 26-10-1 and Covington 5-15. I thought Ripley would have dominated, but Covington had other plans and upset them from the get go. 10-8. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> I guess that's why we play them instead of just writing them in the books, huh? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Either way, both teams have done a great job of getting to this point. Congrats! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  24. Covington pulled it off tonight 10:8. A game that many considered an upset. In any case, Ripley is out with one of the better teams they have had in a few years. 2006 state 2AA champions are still alive to defend. They play USJ at 5:00 Wednesday at USJ.
