  1. From the Commercial Appeal: CLASS AA SECTIONAL RIPLEY 14, CARVER 1
  2. Looks like USJ will be hosting Ripley Wednesday night. Does anyone know the game time?
  3. OPENLAKE

    USJ Wins!

Dyersburg started off on fire in the first two innings and at one point was up 4:1 in the second inning. USJ responded with 8 runs to lead 9:4. USJ finished the game in the fifth inning 14:4. Congrats to the entire USJ organization! Great effort, offensive and defensive. Congrats to Hunter Smith for 3 run homer. Congrats to Will Glenn, player of the game.
  4. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'll have to go with Munford in this one.
  5. Yo dude, chill. I'll take your word for it that PT knows baseball, however, I saw what I saw, and that was a ball not caught. I also saw a ump pointing at the ground. It does not matter now though, because it's in the books. Closed, official, and yesterday's news. I like to look forward to the upcoming games rather than continue to focus on the past. I did reread PT's post and I still stand by my post, the ump called basically the same for both teams. Despite what you may think, I actually have been pulling for many kids on both teams to do well. And by the way, someday I will tell you where I learned baseball and it might suprise you. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Good luck to both teams tonight, have a healthy game. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. Man Purple T, if that's the worst officiating you have ever seen, you have led an extremely sheltered life. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> True, the guy liked them low, but from what I saw, it was about equally bad for both teams. Don't fool yourself and think USJ only hit because of the ump behind the plate. I guess tonight with a different ump, USJ will not be hitting the ball, huh? I wouldn't bet on that. As far as the immaculate catch, get for real. The kid never had the ball to drop. That's it. The ump pointed at the ground, but that was not even a factor until Coach Bridges brought it up. The real story is the kid could not catch it, and tried to con the umps. It just didn't work. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Maybe tonight we can have a game with no injuries, great umpiring, happy fans from both sides, and just some good baseball. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  7. This game started out being all it was billed to be. A homer from each side, and some good pitching. In the end, USJ's sticks were just too hot. Final 12:2 USJ. New record USJ 22:4, Ripley 17:4:1. The game was overshadowed by an injury to one of Ripley's brightest stars, Zach Lewis. What appeared to be a repeat knee injury, but will not know for sure until the doctor's visit tomorrow. I wish you the best Zach. Game two takes place in Ripley tomorrow night. Zach was scheduled to pitch, but that appears doubtful at this point. Anybody know more? Gant pitched for USJ.
  8. Yep, 8th,9th,10th,11th, and 12th make 5 years. Good math. That's not keeping them an extra year, it's starting them a year early. Every school in Tenneessee can do same thing, play a eighth grader. And plenty do. Again, please show us the TSSAA rules prohibiting this. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  9. Please quote the TSSAA rule specifing age guidelines for high school sports, so we can all see this rules violation that you are such an expert on. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  10. The number for Preston is actually 8, and you're right, he is very impressive. Especially if you consider he pitches as good as he hits. It's hard to imagine what the next few years will bring. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
  11. I'll have to go with USJ in this game. They are playing great together. Coach Dyer is doing an excellent job with this team!
  12. Congrats to Bartlett. They are a fine team already. I predict a highly successful season with much post season success, if they keep their boys focused, which should not be a problem. USJ was also undefeated in the Lewis Harris Tourny. Wins over Houston 13/3, Bartellsville OK 12/2, Munford 10/4, Cordova 4-3, and Collierville 13/0. Any other undefeated teams in this tourny? Ironically, USJ's (13:1) only loss on the season came to Bartlett. Both teams looking hot.
  13. USJ 2 Dyersburg 1 USJ 11 Bolivar 3
  14. District 13 - Dyersburg District 14 - USJ
  15. USJ returns 6 starters from the '06 state championship runner-up team. Josh Lyles Will Glenn Clayton Gant Danny Grimm Preston Overbey John Wills Four of these players started on the '05 state championship team. (Josh, Will, Clayton, and Danny) USJ probably has one of the toughest schedules in the state, but that will only make them stronger.
