  1. Maybe I'm not right on track but I know what Bono has done and I know how Chandler and Marable did in a big open in the Carolin's not long ago.
  2. Very good observation I wonder how 103, 112, 119 would come out if d1 and d2 were combined? Any thoughts there?
  3. Very good post. BTW - BB, I didn't know Justin certified for 145, will we see him at 145 this weekend; or was that move just to make things interesting this past weekend and perhaps make him elligible for post season competitions?
  4. And 2nd string? I understand he'll usually beat the 1st string, Michael Chandler, in most opens and common opponents. I also understand that Bono would normally give someone like Marable 1st based on his showing against other common opponents, over a close loss to same team members in challenge matches for the top varsity spot. I know some (maybe one) on this board may hate this approach, but it's true,,, just like other great coaches in TN HS wrestling may do, i.e., GC. It's all about the team!!
  5. Dixie Duals? We have talked about that one like Mar. 24th or 31st. Bill would appreciate knowing more about that one and who all is going down... srokennedy@yahoo.com or adsom@bellsouth.net. You never know?
  6. Each and every coach mentioned here showed the kind of class consistent with the many years I've watched them. I know it wasn't easy for some of them to back off and move on, but my hat's off to many of our states finest examples in this great sport!! The Soms
  7. Congrats to Weathers and Gilbert for a hard fought, yet an expected 3rd place finish. And to Miller and Lester @ Tullahoma* for a surprising 6th place finish over some quality opponents!! * Heck, just getting by Oakland and Warren Co. in regions was impressive and then this!!!
  8. Isn't Watson at 171 a first time starter too and a senior? He will be a force this week too!!
  9. We will need to go two days next year it appears. This weekend Sharpshooters for the Beginners (2 years or less) and the K-5th duals Qualifier for Nationals at DB... 10. Hoop went 5-0 and had a challenge in this match Saturday. We ran nearly 1000 matches on Saturday. Had one team not submit all the required info to enter into the system, a couple of injuries that delayed the tournament by an hour or so. But all went well. I was impressed with this 112 Clements kid from McCallie, as he had nearly zero challenge from some decent wrestlers. He'll be more than ready to take on GC's practices, another TJD!! BTW- is it possible a kid by the name of Luster may be looking at the Big Blue?
  11. They are becoming an icon, man!! Congrats to Steve L. for making a lemon into a lemonaide in 2007. Coach of the year honors must be considered after losing some heavy hitters and coming so close. I'm still in shock over Jan. 18th!!!
  12. Here's a reference to BC's regular season win a couple of weeks ago. Now the table has turned. Congrats to the Trojins hard work!! Big win for Ulric and Mikey after losing a leg or two.
  13. Did this complete test of TN's best pay off this past weekend? Any doubt about SD's readiness for this week?

    Mr. Leen

I believe he did attend school while back in chattanooga last season. I believe he was able to retain his three years though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Mr. Leen

Who all caught this from Jan. 13th... A rematch from earlier this season occurred at 149, when top-ranked Dustin Schlatter faced No. 4 Jordan Leen. Schaltter earned one takedown* over the Big Red wrestler and with riding time, won the 3-0 decision. *And who hasn't? given up a TD against this phenomenon,,, DS. I missed this one!! All indicators may be revealing soph- Leen as one of our greatest wrestlers ever from TN ...Potentially.

    Soddy Daisy

huh? I do appreciate who these two guys are without a doubt. I must say they both do not get enough credit at times and Steve Henry sure deserves what is happening right now!!

    Soddy Daisy

I think we can all agree that this is what we expected with 10 to 12 years of hard work; and now, unrelented preparation getting this group of boys ready!! Steve H. schooled D-1 and D-2 in this one and all season by overcoming challenges and should do the same this Wed. Thurs., and Friday. Kudos!! SD over the field by over 30 points in Traditionals.
  18. Did anyone see the one legged wrestler at 145 tonight? He wrestled better tonight than ever, even at 152 the past couple of years, right BB?
  19. Sure looks like they could get third!!

    Wrestling

Real hard work and drilling to know moves instinctively. It's almost like you don't have to think as the moves flow from one to another. You must feel a sense of accomplishment after each and every practice to better yourself everyday. Study the best and emulate them; and know that there are some quality big guys in TN like at Soddy, Maryville, Centenniel, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Cleveland, FRA, Tullahoma, Collierville, Hendersonville, Union Co, Cookeville, Farragut, & Warren Co. You can wrestle at 189 (or with mid-season growth allowance... 192 right now), and 215 (218 today). Now this is a much smaller weight class than you, but this is what I mean by being instinctive... 21. Has anyone seen this kind of thing from the Lak Forest guys in the corner and on the mat?
  22. From Coach Bill... 2007 - Feb. 2, I just wanted to let you know that a couple of flurries can't stop wrestlers from getting on the mat. The Sheriff's Shoot Out Tournament is still on for tomorrow Feb 3. The Brackets are completely full and there is competition from Knoxville, Chatt, West Tenn, Mid Tenn, Georgia, and Alabama. This is the largest tournament we have ever put together. Make sure you have a safe trip and give yourself plenty of time to get here.
  23. If this happens, Steve L. out coaches Steve H. I don't see anyone within 20 points of SD in individuals though.
  24. You may know Brandon Wright - Houston HS. Bray built Ridgeway before that. Closer to home... Warren Co before that.
  25. Not sure how Collierville will match up, but I'll be impressed if they stay within 15-20 points of the Owls. We'll see what Clarksville team shows up, but this could get ugly (30 points+). Region 10's best shot at bringing home hardware will be in the Individual D-1's and CBHS in D-2 (both tourney's) ...IMO.
