  2. It appears the Nashville Irish could finish 2nd or 3rd now in duals and maybe, maybe traditional too!! Like McCallie they take raw talent and turn them into top competitors by season's end. Now that is going the extra mile and not resting on your laurels as a coach. Kudos to Pat and Co.
  3. 3-0 so far!! Lakewood/Bradley is next!!
  4. Irishdad... I know you got Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Co. to join you in support of your beloved Irish.... And this certainly worked well today, but here's a shot of you as you were running the clock a couple of years ago, whcih also worked... The thing I don't understand though is your ball cap... I thought you and B. Bear always wore one so we can distinguish from the two of you... yours being purple and BB's similar but...
  5. Huge win for The Big Red. Last year they also won this one in front of the McCallie crowd by 20 or more, but a few adjustments from the master strategist and what a difference a week can make. The big battle continues!!
  6. Someone had asked what teams. I just got word that we usually have about 22 teams represented from all over Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky. W've got a lot more interest from other states than usual this year. Come have a big time and know that Bill's tournaments run fast and smoothly. No down time. We ended our last tournament nearly two hours earlier than planned. soms
  7. No Waldon? This was a pretty significant thumping after all!!
  8. You bet. He'll have some good options for our hungry wrestlers. I'll get them to you.
  9. Brad, Did you get anything for the upcoming Ryan/McCallie combo camp in June?
  10. It is a larger margin of victory than you would expect, but in wrestling the score rarely represents the hard fought and close battles of each individual match. My guess is, IF Ooltewah wins the close matches and avoids some mistake giving up bonus points, the margin pulls witnin 10 pts.
  11. Now, that does sound like Gabe using a little leverage on and off the mat.
  12. Actually, I've been impressed with the Vol as well, while all I have is limited first hand knowledge of him and plenty of 2nd hand, who's opinions I have shared. BTW - did I say he is known to be stronger than the average bear? GC has wrestled both.
  13. Winning both proves you have a deep and highly talent team. No one stronger.
  14. You must give BC credit for all the hard work to put this machine together... But have you ever read the book "Green Eggs and Ham?"
  15. Hey now... you're not thinking of this old "Radio" or is it ...newspaper man are you? In all seriousness, take some time to read through posts on region's 7 and 8 over the past month and you'll be thinking dumb.
  16. Trouble, My understanding is that the vol used to roll around on the mat with the guys in the blue and had to choose carefully who he matched up with. His strength was good, very good, but understanding of moves and position had to come; and it did ...with GC's and others' assistance. BUT, still today he has to be selective in who he hits the mat with. Point is? GC 10-2.... and he knows I'm being conservative on that one. Now today... Alex benefits greatly from all dad has picked up on, or brushed up on. All of us old daddy's must stay on the mat to brush up, shape up, and simply maintain... as the old saying goes, use it or lose it. AND GC has not lost it!!
  17. Have you tried? ... on both counts?
  18. Bama, What's your opinon on Divisions? +'s and -'s ? and quailfier options? Dstricts, regions, sections, at-large, ect.?
  19. One important note for all you guys that love to bad mouth officials (and I used to on occasion myself)... before you say one bad thing, go out there and put on the stripes,,, or at least go call wrestle offs with the parents present, if the coach allows it. Deal with the confrontation and split second calls that you must make as the clock runs out and/or as the wrestlers are heading out of bounds. Deal with stalling calls. Try to make the right call on a TD or pin while you are trying to protect the wrestlers from injury. Heck, in Chattanooga they have only one ref for the big ones where as in Middle TN they usually have two (unlike MBA, BA and FR had last week though). Hey, we all have bad days at work. Imagine making the big calls under pressure in front of 2000 screaming folks. All they get is about $5 a match. It takes so much time and practice to get good at this. It is entirely another sport. My hat's off to all those who call these matches. Thanks to those who also teaches and mentors others, especially the young ones. Who comes to your mind... Maybe Donnie Elsie, Danny Gilbert, or Mike Craft. I've noticed this out of some of our best here in Middle TN and can't say enough about some of those, and you know who you are ... those that have been knocked out while trying to keep our boys safe... And some of you that step up and become medical professionals when that unfortunate injury occurs, i.e, David Holcomb. Let these guys work on their jobs as we all must do in life, as human beings.
  20. Well, I've wrestle a bit with GC before he went to Europe to get gold and he was solid, quick, and very strong. Vol, if you want a measurement, wrestle Raider76. At least I can compare what the not so old grey headed monster was then to Connell of 2-3 years ago and they seemed to be quite similar to me in strength and use of leverage. Now, to me, the tops is Jeremy Welder of Franklin for his size/age considerations, and overall probably Steve Logsdon for one of the 40+ guys. I would love to see anyone take Angelo Giasanti down though. Welder almost did. I'll be interested to see how the Raider - Volster match-up goes.
  21. They're not scared. I just said Logsdon is a man of principle and he can be stubborn considering the principle of mercy (forgiveness - then trust, but verify)), that's all. I know deep in his heart he would love the challenge. No doubt about it!!
