Yes, it was like a practice from what I was told but with fans....

Just received a update from the floor of the tournament. Union City was 11 of 31 from the free throw line ( Not Good ). Also, Ensworth had a somewhat larger team and could run as well. I was told their 5 starters could play with Humboldt or Lake Co. with no problem at all. Coby had an MRI on Wednesday and has not played the last ( 2 ) games. This could spell some trouble for Union City @ this point. I was also told that if Union city hit their throws the game would ahev gotten out of hand at one point and could have but was not a blow out. Haywood was destroying their opponent.

From what I hear from the people who watched the game , our 7th & 8th grade team could have beaten Gleason and they wouldn't have allowed that. So why even dress out the freshman. I agree the score was hard to beleive and I also feel sorry for the Gleason boys BUT, do you tell kids which doesn't play as much as others to lay down and play pass ? If you look @ the box score the 3 kids who normally do not play as much scored in double figures. These kids work hard in practice as much as the Gleason players so why cut them short ? Like backinthaoc said, Union City did what they could to cut the score down. If they had wanted to, Gleason may not have even scored 10 points and UNion City 150 points or more. Even @ my place or work we could have put up a good effort and playedthem tough from what I hear. Maybe, Gleason needs to change direction in their boys program looking for a major change. I know if I was @ that school I would look into that. Another point, Everyone Gleason has played that Union City had played so far ( Lake Co. Only ), Gleason played the others much closer. Lake Co. 56 Gleason 31 Union City beat Lake Co. by 9 but the game was much funther than that @ one point. Wait Until they play Humboldt, they might beat Gleason as bad or worse. I looked @ all of the Gleason scores from this year and they were in many of the games they have played loosing some by 3 or 4 points. Look, UNION CITY is that good and when your good your good.

THIS has to be a misprint......... I really didn't know Gleason was this BAD. I really feel sorry for a team like this. Really. I mean, what do you do, dress out your managers / coaches. I really didn't know this program was this bad. I didn't get to listen to the game and glad I didn't. They need to check on cutting their boys program out. This is just like the Shelbyville girls vs. boys. They tell me that the Shelbyville gym packs out for the girls game with around 5000 to watch and then when the boys play everyone leaves. I feel this may be what is going on in Gleason. I really do feel bad for these young men on that Bulldog team. I know they were out everything tonight. WOW!!!!

Hey BIG BOY, let me just say Union City & Humboldt could step right in in the AA ranks and take over. I will be willing to say that the level of play is not near a tough in the AA as it is in the Single A. If you don't beleive me just look @ who Union City has taken on and beat this year. Call our coach, he would be GLAD to put you on our schedule for the 2007 season. Tell'em brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew the ole Falcon fans would show up after the 40 minute trip back down to the river banks. Uhhh, I belevie that key points in winning ANY basketball game is hit your freethrows and and do not turn the ball over much. How many games have you been to that freethrows chose the winner......several. It could have been just the other way. Union City didn't hit their throws and Lake Co. scores a couple of other times and the game is theirs. Exactly, Union City proved that we CAN hit clutch freethrows down the stretch to win. More signs of a great team. I beleive I read a few post back where the Falcons was going to shut M J Brown down.... were still waiting on that one. Union City has much to many scores for you to or any team to shut us down. If this was a off night for Union City and Lake Co. played one of their better games, I would hate to see what the score would have been if Union City would have been hot and the Flacons cold. There is NO doubt, everyone is chasing Union City and UNTIL you do catch up with them they are the team to beat. See Yall later in the year and good luck. Hey K W, Clint was behind the bench in the Humboldt games as well. I wasn't able to make the game due to conflict but did listne most of the game. Sounded like a good one. Oh, where are ALL of the Lake county talkers ? Must be on the way home and will get on here later telling WHY they didn't win, and WHY they will TRY to win down in Tiptonville. It will be a great tournament come the end of the season. The only thing that matters from game to game is to play your best and hope for the best. Anyone is capable of getting beat any night but Union City has less chances than most.

Well folks, the game is now over and Union City won . Union City 90 Lake Co. 81. Union City built a 15 point lead at half time but let Lake county come out in the second half and cut the lead to 3 points. Union City had 5 players in double figures with Lake County having 3 players. Union City needed this type game and will have more as the season progresses. Come tournament time though, my bet is on the ole Tornadoes with the Sisco's leading them on. Great game on both sides. Good nite.....................................

Aren't most daddys incharge!! After all, Marty did bring Union City its first Gold Ball and 2 others to follow. Everyone is just jealous because they do not have the Sisco's on the bench for them. Go Union City and show everyone you are what you are...............................

Why sould I have nerves. I'm not the one playing or coaching. After all, everyones goal is to be State Champions ( which Union City is ) and we just might go back there and do it again. I look for a good game and my inside sources tell me that Union City will pull away in this game with no problem. Lake County might be around for a while but not too long. Shane might be on crutches on the sideline due to a foot problem so that means Daddy Sisco ( Marty ) will take over at times. No need to fear, Union City will be there. Let's just say Union City will win and depending on how the defense plays will determine how much we win by. Turnovers will be inportant as well. If we can cuase over 20 turnovers, then the score might just get a little out of hand. I hope for a injury free and clean game for both and my the best team win.... Union City!

Time for my answer............. This is for ANYONE out there who doesn't or can't understand about basketball, team play and kids who work hard starting with you red_16........ I beleive that the word " Team " doesn't have an " I " in it does it? Ok, a team is made up of: Coaches, Players, Managers, Video Person ( Students ) etc... Humboldt might have had the best players, who will ever know but I know this, Union City won last year when it counted. Just like the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series ( Which I am a BIG Fan of ) No-one, and I mean NO ONE gave the Cardinals a chance to win the Gold Baseball this past Fall. Guess What, They played as a team and played their best baseball at the right time. 2006 World Chapions St. Louis Cardinals. Same thing for Union City last year. Now, I do not like to talk about caoches because they have a tough enough time as it is, but if Humboldt had Shane Sisco or Marty or someone like them on their bench they would have probably won it all last year and would be undefeated this year. For example, during the Humboldt / Union City game this year when we spanked your tail, you out dunked us ( 2 points per shot ), and out played us in a very few minutes, your coach didn't even know when to call a time out and if he had he didn't know what to say to the players. I know he is a decent coach but that is the beginning and the end of a great team. You can't win if you don't have a caoch but you can win if you have a coach with players that are coachable. Union City has won ( 4 ) Gold Basketballs off of teams that work hard with hard working and knowlegable coaches. Enough said. I am not a gambling man, but I will say come tournament time no one, and I MEAN NO ONE will out caoch Shane or Marty Sisco and with that on our bench it makes up for extra players, height, you name it and WE GOT IT>>>> Go UNion City.

Well I be @#^T&&%. Union City doesn't have just one player . We have 5 and almost six player averaging in double figures. HOW MANY HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS HAS THAT AND THIS IS A SINGLE A TEAM. Come on, I know everyone hates Union City but give respect like some other fans are on this post that are fans of other teams. What you have to understand and aren't is that Union City has mulitible threats. When you try to shut one man down another come from no-where and licks you in the side of your face. There are some very nice post on this board praising Union City and how good they are. If you don't beleive them just come and watch. The Humboldt fans were running their mouth and that for some reason has quit. The Dresden fans now know how good Union City really is and come the 12 I will be willing to say Union City will BEAT Lake Co. by at least 20 points. The half court press is what they will improve on and are working on as we write. Now with teams with 30 turnovers plus per game they will have 40 or 50!!!!!!!!! You never have enough improvement. Union City will be better conditioned as the year rolls on. Will be able to match up and play better against taller teams by playing in these holiday tournaments with Nationally ranked teams. There are many ways to improve and what YOU have to remember is while the other teams might be improving, so will U N I O N C I T Y !!!!!!!!!!!! Well, Union City is handling Dresden with not much trouble. Halftime Union City 65 Dresden 40 Now U C 69 Dresden 42 just starting the second half. Dresden gave Union City just a very, very, very, very small test in the first quarter but the defense has come through again. Who's next ????? The Lake County game might be good for a quarter or 2 but I think Union City will run them down. With Jimmy Whitby on the bench that is their sixth man and he can coach but in big games has had trouble in the past. We'll see. Hope for a good , clean game from both. I will update the final on U C & Dresden after the game.

The Rebels are due a win and have been playing pretty good basketball with some tough losses. I'll go with the Rebels by 8. Parker will have a BIG night.

I ...... know who the McNairy Central Bobcats are.... we use to drill them in the regional tournaments @ Gibson County and also on their own gym floor. Years (From 1990 to 1998 ) we won ( 3 ) Gold Balls and to the final 4 at least 2 other years, we crused right on by the Bobcats. They never had an answer to beat Union City and just like the team or teams we have now and last year, we were over matched by size but from the coaching to the 110% effort of our players we overcame every little obsticle anyone put in our way. Yea, I remember your colors are like blue/yellow/white. And the last time I saw one of your basketball jerseys, it had PURPLE & GOLD all over it. Go Union City!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McNairy Who ????? Union City has had their number in years past just as well and coul;d even take you this year as a Single A Team. We have already beaten Haywood Co. , Bolivar, Obion County, Humboldt, Covington and counting......... All of these teams are at least one classification up from us except Humboldt. I will say this, I will put Union City, Lake Co. & Humboldt against anyone in any classification in the State and would compete very well in not win.

Uhhhhh..... It is hard for me to beleive you do not know anything about Liberty out of Jackson Tennessee. You need to watch what you are saying. These guys did not LOOSE anyone from last years team and are really good. East Tennessee basketball is not like West Tennessee Basketball. We are of the run-n-gun style over here and are very well condtioned. I know, our 2006 Union City High School boys basketball State Champions are undefeated this year already in Single A and will not loose anyone much to next years team as well. West Tennessee could EASILY take A, AA, & AAA in Boys this year again. Go Union City

Your comment are good " backinthaoc". I was sitting there behind the bench as well and have for year when I do get to go to the games. I like all your post because you think things through and are true with all of your statements. Yes, Union City does have at least ( 1 ) football player ( Patrick Polk ).

Look, when are you going to realize that Humboldt doesn't have the guards to bring the ball up the court. One man can't do it and the tall guys sure can't. If they had the spunk in them like Union City they really would be hard to deal with but soooo much that Union City does makes everyone overlook them because of their size. Humboldt needs guards .......................
