MJ is probably the most fundamentaly sound team in the state based on what their coach is ask them to do.That is run your plays with passion and knowledge of where you are on the floor, get every loose ball and fight for every rebound. Nixon does all of these things for them every time down the floor. Just giving credit where it is due. Everything i just mentioned is what the young kids at Smyrna are striving to do and maintain. This game came down to made and missed oppurtunities. MJ had more made Smyrna had more missed.Congradulations MJ;know that you will continue to work hard.Smyrna learn from this lost as you did the first and add another level of improvement. SHOULD BE A LIGHTS OUT DISTRICT TOURNAMENT!

Everyone keeps talking about what happened earlier in the year.Don't rest on that and comparative scores. The Smyrna Team is not the same young and inexperienced girls they were when they played MJ earlier in the year. This is why you practice,to correct your mistakes and define your strengths and weaknesses.No one has ever won a state championship in Nov. There was not a single time after any of Smyrna'[s losses that anyone came on here and made excuses as to why they lost.They excepted that the other team played better and went back to work, when there were excuses that could have been posted.Anyone that has watched them play and knows anything about the game has to see the difference in the intensity of this team on defense now as compared to earlier in the year. They have played two of the supposely top three teams in the state and held each to their lowest point total this year. Also both teams have probably 2 of the 3 top canidates (the 3rd Jasmine White) for Miss Basketball,and Smyrna has held them both to their lowest point total this year.Don't Make Excuses when you lose give the other team credit and get better. MJ I will say this, you guys pose the biggest matchup problems because of your team speed, against the big teams in the district. But do not rest on that 22 point win that was then this is now.Great game last night WC. Last nights game proved only one thing it will be a dog fight until the end among the big three in 9AAA.Play hard and good luck too all.

Smyrna has some young players that have upgraded their games. Also Mt. Juliet against either of these two is going to bring the same tremendous level of intensity.

It does not matter whether you do AAU or Nike or any other shoe event. If you are a High caliber player the colleges will follow. The deal with the shoe events are that your team has to apply and be accepted. I would like to think that the Tenn. Team Pride`s 14u,15u, and 16u ,have a lot of the top talent in the state, and each one of them have been invited to these shoe events, and participated. So it is not about the shoe symbol it is about the players. As far as who runs the best program or has the best talent alot of that has been proven on the floor thus far this season. One other thing, I wish people would not make excuses for players that are not there because of travel or age when things don`t go their way. I`ve got players that travel 4 hours and make everything,and if you are playing up thats no excuse because you are what you play. When you win the first thing we will here is that you had a team with 4 14u`s beat 15u`s it can`t work both ways.

The Dayton Lady Hoopstars 16u who finished #3rd in the country last year as 15u, beat the Tennesseee Team Pride 15u in overtime 61-56. Pride was down by 14 early, but came back to take a 3 point lead with 9 sec. to go. A Dayton guard who had not taken a 3 the entire game came down and nailed a well defended 23-footer to send it to overtime. Great game.There were 104 teams in the classic 10u-16u.

I want to be name 2 other Freshman post who are on most recruiters HOT LIST. Dymon Raynor and Jasmine Hassell.Both play for Pride Dymon 15u, Jasmine14u. Pride`s 15u is also loaded with some great guard personal.Without trying to knock any other kid while lifting these kids, I just want to state the talent in this state is Tremendous! It would be good if the best 14`s,15`s and16`s in the state could get together for a playday in June prior to the Nationals, with everyone playing each other.Pride`s 15u can play with any group at 15u,16u or 17u.Note: I didn`t say win, I said compete with the chance of winning. Outside of sanctioned AAU Tournaments ,they play 16u and 17u. In fact Sat. night in Jefferson City they play the Dayton Lady Hoopster`s 16u, who finished No.3 in the Country last year as 15u`s.It will be a Challenge for the Girls being that they are undefeated against everyone they have played ,reguardless of age.

The Pride Teams from 9u through 16u have players on their teams that were developed under the coaches at Pride or through personal training.When the kids 9u-13u come to the open gym or tryouts they are put in a relaxed atmostphere ,allow to play, and also given pointers along the way whether they have a chance to make the team or not. 14u-16u normally go through personal workouts to see where they stand;too add to teams that are already established.

Yes,that was the 14u playing up.Most teams in the pride org. play up in tournaments that are not AAU sanctioned or Qualifiers.

The 15U Tn.Team Pride played in the Peach State Tip-Off Classic this weekend in Atlanta Ga. were there were 5 different flights. They played against 16 and 17 yr. olds in the black flight which was second best flight among the teams. There were about 150 divison 1 colleges there to see the teams play. The 15U won the black flight, which was second highest divison. They beat the Ala. Elite 66-56, and clearing the bench. They beat Lady Phoenix 70-52, clearing the bench. In semi-finals they beat The United Celtics from NC 62-61 in a dog fight, with Pride only hitting 13 of 38 foul shots and STILL winning. In the finals today the Championship game, they beat The S.Carolina Crush shutting them down defensively 55-32 to win the championship in the black divison. They were very impressive against girls one and two yrs. older than them with many of them already committing to colleges. It should be a very good Sub-State next weekend in Cheatum Co. With the Flight, Memphis Elite and Tn Team Pride having to play each other before the weekend is over. For those who saw the Super-Reg. 3wks ago, in which the Pride won. This is a much different Team that is hitting about 80 % of all cylinders compared to about 50% 3 wks ago.

The battle between The Flight and Team Pride in the 15u were what Girls AAU Basketball Should be about. Regardless of the outcome both games were a war,with neither team or coach giving an inch. Don`t be surprised to see at least 2\3`s of each team playing big-time college basketball.I have not seen the Memphis Elite Team ,but you could probably state the same case for them also.By the way all 3 of these teams will be iun the North Middle Sub-State. :

South Middle only had the Flight and the West only had the Memphis team to register so they had to go either North or East. North Middle will have six bids to come out of that Sub-State. 2 from the North,2 from the South,2 from the West. There are 7 teams total.Team Pride-Coleman(Gold),Team Pride-Archie(Marron),Flight,Memphis,LadyKnights,CDF,and the Heartbreakers.Six of the seven teams will advance to State.GOOD LUCK LADYS!

The Pride 15u will play the Flight 15u Sat. night at 9:30 in the final pool game in the Shelbyville Super Regional.This will be the First of possibly 5 meetings these 2 teams will have before the Nationals.The other meetings will take place in the Sub-State and State.The Memphis team will also be at that same State and Sub-State.GOOD GIRLS BASKETBALL around the corner! :
