  1. We played our worst half of the season on Monday and was only down 2 at the half. Coach Phillips did a great job. He decided to let Hill be a one man team. He did score 20 points but on 23 shots and 2 assists. He also knew LT did not have enough depth so he ran often in the first half. They did not give the game away but they played into our hands. By the middle of the third qtr they were spent. To be down 2 at the half and win by 17 his plan worked. This team can play half court or run. On the other hand we must play against CPA. We will give our best

Are you coming to the Boro tomorrow?

  2. was not impressed with mitchell last monday...liberty gave the game away time and again...

actually mitchell did impress me at the FT line...they were nearly perfect and they attack the bucket repeatedly...but liberty gave the game away by not doing the same thing to them...

mitchell is weak on D and their guards are shakey on O...they are not a particularly good rebounding team...a good pg can pick them apart over and over

if the in your face scramble while you bring the ball up the court is an issue then yes they might have a chance...but i doubt it...CPA wins again...but not for much longer

Tomorrow is will humble some and fuel others...lol

  3. Hmmm, let me think here a minute. Ok, first, your right fans will be fans and passions run high. Second, this is a ball thread, not a thread of GODS plan for us. If you wanna start one of them, I'd be glad to discuss what the ALL MIGHTY has planned for me.

I also am aware of what's going on in the world and would love to discuss those things on another thread too. As for this one, its ball and that's what I wanna talk about.

    Thanks for your concern.

Well, I'm glad to know that you understand that name calling is inappropriate for this basketball thread. On the other hand, I'm sure that HIS plan doesn't involve calling another person things that will not glorify HIM.

  4. Oh, and another thing that pisses me off about this jerk!!!! Yes, jerk!! He's the one that started this thread, Southwind/Oak Ridge who wins and why? Then when we chime in on it and discuss it, he belittles and disrespects our post and our teams. I know the two studs on SW team are good, but now I'm pulling for anyone but SW.

He reminds me a lot BTW fans the last three or four years, beat up on the nobody's, then fall apart in the tourney. Again, I know Oak will have to play great to pull it off, I just don't like the way he tells us that, u know? I've seen stranger things happen at this time of year.

Fans are going to be fans good or bad. Please direct that negative energy away from the threads. There are far more important things going on in the world. Channel your energy toward God's plan for your life.

  5. Believe me, we are just as high on Southwind and are aware of the caliber of out-of-state opponent which they suffered four of their six losses to.

We also are very wary of Southwind's #Big3 of JaJuan Johnson, Johnathan Williams & Payton Hulsey.

In other words, as far as we are concerned, Blackman & Southwind are equally "the best team in the state". Do we really have to decide? ;)

  6.

If Dyer Co. wins the region and host sub-state, I think you will see the Choctaws in Murfreesboro. It's a tough atmosphere for any opposing team to come into and win...

Ridgeway or Southwind will win this game by double digits. DC fans will be great but they will soon see why AAA basketball in Memphis is on another level. Additionally, both teams have really good coaches to go along with all that athletic talent.

  7. Icy would have to disagree with you on the West TN teams don't dominate or get out coached by East TN. They may not have through out history but have done pretty well the last few years. Since 2005 till last year, that is an 8 year span West TN has won 5 of those 8 and had an All West TN final in 2011. Middleton-2005, Union City-20006, Union City 2008, Manassas-2009, and Lake County-2011. I know it was Lake Co. and Middleton in 2011 and believe it was Union City and Manassas in 2008. So the West side has fared pretty well here lately. The only true East TN winner would be Tennessee Temple since I would consider Friendship Christian and Clarksville Academy, the other 2 state champs in that time span, Middle TN. Also if you go back to 2000 you can add South Fulton to the list and really only Chatt Schools in TN Temple and CCS. with a win by Unaka thrown in there.

It's ok to disagree. If you go back and calculate the number of wins in single A, East has 6 & as of late the West has 5. If you look a little further into the stats of those years, East put out West Tn teams during those years they didn't win it all. The stats are there for single A. I'm from the West and I'm just giving credit where it is deserved.

  8. Did you see the TCA kids?If by west you mean Memphis, well I'll agree...if you think any coach from the east would've taken TCA further than Northcutt you've been on the train to Hootersville too long.No offense to the Trinity kids(they play to 100% of their natural talent level)but give Northcutt BTW's athletes fom last season and he blows out eveybody at Murfreesboro. The rural western division teams achieve because of coaching, not in spite of it.An earlier post stated that Horton never developed talent, just waited for the "next" Newby to transfer in...he'd never make it in rural West Tn.Just for the record I'm not a Trinity homer, but I appreciate the "mechanics" of great basketball.

During the state tournament in single A, the west do not dominate when it comes to state titles.

  9. tradertwo there are other variables that come with the athletes at BTW. Even though Horton doesn't develope kids he does wonders managing personalities and the outside influences that come with inner city athletes.

The guy has close to 700 wins and a State Championship so something is working for him.

The above statement was true about 15 plus years ago. As time has passed, he hadn't done a good job in that area in my opinion. (ex. Andre Allen & T. Head)

  10. I'm 100% South Memphis as well. We need to stop complaining about what is going on if we aren't present when transfers occur. Furthermore, there are occasions where information given on these threads are second hand knowledge at best. In my opinion, the coaches at the single A (East) level are better coaches than the coaches at single A (West). The West has more talent year in and year out but they get out coached almost every year in the state tournament.

  11. Everything you stated is true, but coaching goes deeper than in-game decisions. Both teams were in identical situations...Lake down five in regulation with less than a minute, and BTW in OT.Yes Swift hit a "miracle" shot, but LC never panicked when nobody would've given them a chance and BTW did when they're backs were against the wall.Swift probably hits that shot a couple of times out of fifty, but he maintained his focus and took his best reasonable shot...and it went in.The player hit the shot but the fundamental background put them in position to have a shot, and the lack of them is what failed BTW.

I totally agree with you tradertwo. Coaching was the number 1 factor that decided that game. A good coach always tell their players not to foul when your up with seconds remaining on the clock. There were situations in that game that showed the lack of coaching that occurred the entire year.
