  1. MAybe he chose wooden and summit because they are actually basketball coaches, and we are talking about a basketball team.... just a thought;) And if anyone doubts the Counce's impact on our program just come to our gym and look at the wall. Terrific coaches Congrats to Covington and DC. I was always impressed by Coach Real when he was here. There wasn't a single time he passed a student in the hall without saying hello or good morning. He's a good man and coach. As for DC, if you can win in Memphis, then you can win anywhere! including the state tournament.
  2. Haha, its all down to choice. End of the day thats what it is. You can disagree with it, you can not support players moving, but its their choice. I personally think its a little funny to talk of people sending kids to the best high school when we are in rural west TN! There's really not much difference. Yes, some schools have better academics and some have better sports or campus's, but a succesful student at Ripley will probably be a success at Obion too. And i dont think choice limits you. I doubt the parents and kids went on tours and really evaluated the schools. They just went where the basketball was, whether recruited or not. I think we are treating high school too much like college! If you move, duh you probably got to change schools, no denying that. Someone mentioned the player from morristown earlier, its his choice to go here too. It probably made sense cause he lives .5 of a mile away from the school! Baseball didnt occur to him, he wanted to go where he thought he could get the best education and where his friends are. And his parents moved, its not like somebody drove to morristown and asked them to send their kid here. The main thing is that was a big move, like 6 hrs difference. Its the little moves, like just across lines specifically for the purpose of transferring that id have a problem with. As for the people saying that if DC was not succeeding then nobody would say the R word, Teams that recruit usually succeed. If not they need a new recruiter. That said, i think DC has profited immensly from Mccord, he has really brought their program along. Now, I wouldnt trade a year of eleibibility for anything, but some kids have decided to do it, and its worked out for them! No problem there! Do i think it matters where a kid goes to school? Yes and No. If they abide by TSSAA guidlines, as it seems the case is, then no. Best of luck to you! But if they didnt then yes. Its not fair to the kids who play by the rules. Maybe im old fasioned, but i still just think where you grow up is where you should go to school unless you go private, the school is unsafe, or other extreme mesures The sad thing is, most ppl at these schools dont give a hoot about the R word, or who won coach of the year, or who wins district every year. I just want to watch my classmates and friends play their best, represent our school well, and get good experiances while doing it! And yes a few W's along the way is always nice! Few athletes will play college, so its the experiances the athletes have to use to further their lives. DC and Dburg basketball have represented their schools so well! It means more to me to dress out and put on the armband in my sport then to hoist a gold ball. How bout congrats to the schools on an awesome year, and lets see how the post season goes!

  4. School choice should not involve sports. I went to dyersburg because I live in the city and most of my friends go there. If you live in the county, and most of your friends go to the county, then you should go to the county school!!! easy! We can debate each schools superiority for forever. I have some good friends at DC, and know they are getting a good education there. That said, I think Dyersburg has prepared me very well. I got a half scholarship to a very competitive school. Dyersburg has had students already admitted to Vanderbuilt and Duke this year. Academically I think Dyersburg is better then any school in the area except USJ, but obviously DC has its strengths too! From a sports perspective, I can see athletes getting angry at lack of time. It really hurts competitive players to sit the bench knowing they can really contribute on the field. But switching schools is becoming far to common! It should only be an extreme last resort. Sometimes it does have to happen, and I know some athletes who've transferred who wanted to stay and win things for their own school very badly, but it just was never going to work. I stayed in Dyersburg to play ball because I'd rather represent the program that brought me up and bow out in Regions then go to State with a team i transfered to. Its an athletes job to improve their program they are in, not sulk cause they dont go undefeated or the coach doesnt appreciate them. Too many players see suiting up as a right rather then a privilege. This wasnt aimed at DC. Its just how I feel about players trading schools. There will always be a little fuzz from Dburg regarding the players leaving. But if they followed the rules then there shouldnt be a problem. As for Dyersburg being stuck up, i think its harsh to judge the school over 3-4 coach Ters. There ARE good ppl at both schools. Yes, DC should have a good season. I grew up with Rex, and wish him the best. We'll see if Dyersburg can build on the loss
  5. My U-18 team beat SCOR 4-1, but finished 2nd in bracket with a loss to the state champs, Cleveland. No clue how the U-17s did, but I know they were beaten pretty bad in at least one game. It was a good year. Won the TUSC tourney. I played with the Rush in their pre-season before joining Wolves. The rush had some talent.
  6. We'll find out... But Dyersburg is not a one man team. David is great, and scores a lot of goals, but sometimes people forget about how strong we usually are in the back, we only conceded one to ECS! We also have a hardworking midfield to supply him and Youmans. I'm going to change my prediction of 1-1 draw. With david and castro on the pitich, and us missing Beau, I'm going to say the game will tie 2-2 or end 2-3.How did yal fare against DC Ronaldinho?
  7. He's done well for us so far, but will need to step it up thursday, just like every one else. We will be missing our best CB, Beau, but have a deep bench. I think whoever wins the Midfield will win this game. My prediction is a 1-1 Draw. Looks like we'll get better weather than last year!
  8. Hope they sort it out before thursday. when is yalls first game soccer 19, and who do yall play?
  9. I don't know if its true, but because of him, im not looking forward to Thursday! This is the first I've heard of this though.
  10. Dyersburg beat Gibson 7-0 with the reserves playing most of the game. Goals for Grueser (3) Youmans (2) Hansford(2) Clean sheet for the defense and keepers. Easy game, lloking forward to haywood!
  11. Not unusual for a good team to beat a poor team by that score. That is pretty sad though, I remember we beat Gibson County by I believe 17-0 one time. There should be no reason for the scoreline to be that big though, after 5 or 6 the reserves should be playing just out of common courtesy.
  12. Dyersburg 0, ECS 1 Dyersburg 1, St. Benedict A-3 Dyersburg 1, Liberty 0
  13. I think Madison will be a very talented team this year, they have some top class players. Their win over USJ in a scrimmage (and yes I know scrimmages are no substitute for real games) shows how serious their team is. I am NOT a Madison fan. I remember my freshman year we beat them 3-2 to go to state, they had a very talented squad. Last year they beat us 2-0 with a younger, less experienced squad. I know they didn't lose many to graduation, so there's no reason they should not be good. I'm not looking forward to tending goal against them in Jackson. Although they will be good, "undefeated" might be going a step too far, as injuries and upsets do happen.
  14. Who is yalls coach this year?
