  1. 12U: Pool A - 1) Team Pride 2) TN Trotters Pool B - 1) TN Glory 2) KGC Pride Championship: Team Pride vs. TN Glory winner TEAM PRIDE Third Place: TN Trotters vs. KGC Pride winner KGC Pride I don't believe that the Memphis Teams have been tested and are ready for this type of competitiveness except TN Glory. Memphis Elite - Holmes could squeak into the third place game if they can squeak by the Trotters who are playing good ball right now. I just don't see any of the teams spoiling last year's match of TN Glory vs. Team Pride. Pride dominated the Glory last year and in the Substate this year, and you can expect the same in the State Finals this year.
  2. Does anybody know what the 12U State Pools look like?
  3. The Memphis Lady Bobcats have focused more on the exposure age groups and since they are tied to Adidas, they focus more on the Exposure Events (shoe company events) and not AAU. They also lost a lot their younger girls to Team Memphis Elite. TN Wings is a growing organization, but the talent is slim in that part of the West.
  4. Interest in AAU in the West is really falling off. There are some clubs outside of Memphis that are forming, but overall it is Team Memphis Elite (TME), TN Glory who does not participate in TME events and vice-versa (TN Glory played in the North or South Middle substates), and Memphis Select who is has a hard time keeping good talent and coaches. It would be interesting in the next couple years to see what TME looks like because interest at the top maybe falling off with the daughters of the individuals who run the organization are reaching the end of their AAU careers. I look for TN Glory to regain some momenteum in the next few years because they seem committed to this for the long haul. The other thing is more organization are focusing on Exposure Events (shoe companies) and not AAU. A lot of players are looking at this as being more beneficial as far as getting scholarships and not having to pay fees compared to playing AAU at an older age. The economic issue is the other reason. People cannot afford to pay the fees, therefore the teams cannot play in as many tourneys, which lead to many clubs who use to host tournaments to make money to support teams are unable to do so. It's a trickling down affect and it is really affecting the West part of TN. Plus everyone is getting tired of all th age rules changes and now the resignation of Peanut Cummins is another blow. Peanut was well liked and respected in the West.
  5. West Substate results: 12U: 1st - Team Memphis Elite - Holmes 2nd - Team Memphis Elite - Harris
  6. I have been involved in AAU girls basketball just 5 years and I first met Peanut at a National Tourney in Orlando, FL during my first year and the man made a memorable impression that I would never forget. He didn't know me at all, but I found him to be very passionate, caring, and understanding toward the little people like myself. He was just sitting in the stands with his jeans and tennis shoes watching the games like an average old dad. Ever since then, he has been even more helpful and when ever I have a question or issue, he would be the one that I would feel comfortable in calling. It is a truly sad day for AAU Girls Basketball and it really makes me want to explore other avenues now. I feel like AAU was already on the decline and this really steepens that downward spiral. What a pity!!!
  7. Can anyone provide the substate results from this weekend? I know this much in the west. 10U: 1st - Team Memphis Elite 2nd - Memphis Select Tigers 11U: 1st - Memphis Lady Bobcats 2nd - Memphis Select Tigers 12U: 1st - Team Memphis Elite 2nd - Memphis Lady Bobcats 13U: 1st - Memphis Flight 2nd - Memphis Lady Bobcats 14U: 1st - Team Memphis Elite 2nd - Memphis Lady Bobcats
  8. The tournament site is in Somerville which is about a 30 minute drive east of Memphis. The 14u level should be competitive amongst the teams that are playing. Obviously the high-powered 14's won't be there, but it still should be competitive.
  9. The Memphis Elite/Lady Tigers Shoot-out is June 2nd-4th. The cost is $150 and games will be held at Fayette-ware middle and high. The 11U age group will feature the #1 and #4 teams in the State. For more details please contact Evelina Wilburn @ 901-324-6361 or email at evelinawilburn@aol.com We would love to see your team play.
  10. Bring your game to Memphis and represent your city !!!! The Memphis Elite/Lady Tigers could still use teams in it's Shoot-out tourney as follows: 10U- 2 girls teams 11U- 1 girls team 12U- 2 girls teams 13U- 2 girls teams 14U- 1 girls team 14U- 2 boys teams Tounament date w/ flexible scheduling: June 2-4th Cost: $150 w/ multiple teams discount Place: Fayatte-ware high and middle school Primary contact: Evelina Wilburn 901-324-6361 or email evelinawilburn@aol.com
  11. In my opinion, all the teams that played on Sunday could have won the championship. All the games were hard faught and sometimes it is the little things that make the difference in the end. FCA is a well discipline and well coached team who do all the little things. The core of this team has been together for a few years now and have taken their bumps to get to this level. My hats go off to Coach Little and his staff on a job well done. The Trotters were a surprise. My Elite Tigers played this team and lost by 1pt in the semis. The Trotters are well coached and I did not hear the coach say anything while we were shooting free throws, so I don't know where this is coming from. The Trotters played like they wanted it more than we did, so my hats go off to the group of girls on that team. Good job ladies and congrats on your 2nd place finish. The Extreme played well against my Elite Tigers, but I heard they could not get there post going against FCA. This is a really good team with all the pieces. They will be a tough outfit at nationals. My Memphis Elite Lady Tigers fought hard, but could not take advantage of some layup and free throw opportunities during the Sunday games losing by 1pt in the semis and 2pts in the 3rd place game. This is not to take anything away from the teams we played because they were good teams and they also did their part in winning the games. This is the first year for this team so 4th in the State is a big accomplishment. We do look to make some noise during Nationals. I hope all the teams and parents will just accept how they finished and take their hats off to the teams they lost to. Nationals are right around the corner, so lets get focused on that so we can represent Tennessee well. I will be rooting for all of you, except if you are playing my Elite Tigers
  12. Can someone post the results of the 11U age division? I would like to know scores if you have them. Is there a website for the TN Miracle?
