  1. I wouldn't say they play a big role, usually they are subs and underclassmen. Experienced pitchers shouldn't need to be calmed down before a game. By the time a kid is a junior or senior, he has probably been in big games or tough situations and should have the mental toughness to deal with it on his own. I do think pitchers often warm up too much and too early. Each pitcher should develop his own pregame ritual to find what suits him best. Just my opinion.

Woody pitched a good game, and despite the score Edwards wasn't bad either.

    Is this true?

It IS an issue because it shows a lack of class and character. If he wants to use it as a motivational tool, then graciously accept the trophy take it home and smash it up....in private. This isn't about being satisfied with number 2, it's about being a man.
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a reducted rate for students. And I would like to see season passes for each of the sports as well. My old high school even had an all-sports pass that was a pretty good deal.
  5. I know that you're aware that nobody's getting rich off the gate. If that were the case, there would be no need for a booster club and the constant barrage of fundraisers. I'm happy to pay the price of admission at football, basketball and baseball games to support these young men (and women).

    District 10 AA

No, I wasn't offended. I agree Page should be the favorite. They are a senior dominated team, with good pitching and are well coached. I'm just not ready to hand them the title yet. Spring Hill should be in the mix losing just 1 starter from last year's squad to graduation and the starting SS to a tragic auto accident. They have a very competitive and effective 1-2 pitching combo, and a lot of talent and experience in the Jr. and Sr. classes. I'm never willing to count Marshall County out, but I think this year they will play the role of spoiler. Pitching is a question mark for them. If that develops, they could be more than a spoiler. I think Giles and Lewis County can pull off upsets as well. I don't think anyone will cruise through this district undefeated, so whoever can avoid the upset losses and play consistently through the schedule should come out on top. In any case, should be a competitive district and fun to watch this year.

Wow....glad to know that. Now we can just cancel all the games and save ourselves the trouble of playing.
  8. I don't have any connection to the Richland program, but I know they are a great hitting team all the way down the lineup. And of course, they have premier catcher in Justin McNeese.
  9. Can anyone give us a recap of the Marshall Co. vs Page game. Sounds like it was a good one.
  10. Did Rob Holly throw for Giles County last night?
  11. Yeah, he is a very good pitcher. I think he is still undecided at this point, but I'm sure he'll get some offers somewhere. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot of backup. Ayers is decent, but inconsistent.
  12. Wow, if he has command of 12 different pitches, he should skip high school and go straight to the Big Show. Son, you are going to make a great politician some day... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Good point, guess I was thinking in terms of what I had seen rather than the actual won/loss records. Anyway, the rest of the schedule should be interesting.
  14. Not sure home field is that big of an advantage in HS baseball. Guess we'll see tonight. I think it was a case of the top 4 teams in the district playing the bottom 4 and by coincidence they were all shut outs. I wouldn't expect the same tonight.
  15. "A special enviornment"?....wow, that's a stretch.

    Foul Ball

This exact situation was exactly why this rule was enacted. I found the story about it on the net a year or two ago, I'm sure if you google around a bit you can find it too. 5.09 The ball becomes dead and runners advance one base, or return to their bases, without liability to be put out, when -- (a) A pitched ball touches a batter, or his clothing, while in his legal batting position; runners, if forced, advance; (/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> The plate umpire interferes with the catcher’s throw; runners may not advance. NOTE: The interference shall be disregarded if the catcher’s throw retires the runner. © A balk is committed; runners advance; (See Penalty 8.05). (d) A ball is illegally batted; runners return; (e) A foul ball is not caught; runners return. The umpire shall not put the ball in play until all runners have retouched their bases;[/i]
  17. The good ol' boys in Columbia are against anything that smacks of being progressive. Seriously, the state needs to come in and take over the county commission. the city council, AND the school board. It's a pathetic politcal situation in Columbia.

Anybody have details on this game?

Stolz is indeed a very solid pitcher, in fact I think he is a better pitcher than Lintz. Seth gets by with a lot on pure velocity sometimes. But if someone is clocking Stolz at 93 mph, they better check the calibration on their gun.
  20. Of course not!! Now, would you be interested in buying some of my oceanfront property in Arizona?
