  1. BGA won 9-4.... great game
  2. Game was rained out today. I guess a double-header: Ryan/BA then the winner against MBA?

yes, I caught the 2nd BGA/BA game and was very impressed by the way BGA hit the ball. For those that don't know, BA opened the game with a three-run homer in the top of the first.... BGA scored a run in the bottom of the first and then went on to score 7 in the second I think. They ended the game with a walk-off two run homer in the 5th. Good to see they can stay in a game where their pitcher was strugglig a little early on. BGA's defense is so crisp, so disciplined, they had maybe 2 errors in the series with BA, Coach Myers has done a good job with them. If they keep hitting the ball, with their pitching, they will be very tough to beat in the region tournament and later in State.

I was thinking the same thing, brick. I guess it's ok to be bitter... And I didn't get to make it out to the game today, I'll have to wait and see the result in the paper.

Ha I don't know much to tell you the truth. The BGA kid that pitched today was a lefty, #32 I think, and one of their parents said he was their #3. BGA beat BA 13-3 in 5, walk-off 2 run HR, tonight by the way. BA's starting pitcher was #15 and #10 came in relief, both right handed. I'm planning on going to the BGA @ BA game tomorrow afternoon after work and Ill talk to some of the BGA parents about their pitching. I honestly am not sure about JPII and Father Ryan, sorry.

BGA's bench is loud but that can be good and bad I guess. I always hated it when the opposing team was loud, and to tell you the truth it made me mad and me think about that more then the game. But I have nothing wrong with them having a good time. Do you mean they are disrespectful, yoyo? If so then thats a knock on that school. As for their facilities, they are very nice. Havn't been inside the hitting facility/locker room but it looks great from the outside; and their field has always been one of the best around. They have some very generous alumni/parents.

I think Davidson beat JPII earlier, might be mistaken. And I caught the first couple of innings of the BGA/BA game last night, since they were playing near my house, and BA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st off a reach on a K (E-2) and then a couple of hits. I was surprised to read BGA came back to win 5-3. And for the record, I went to BA and despise the sports department in general for certain reasons... Getting kind of interested in BGA, since they play just down Franklin Road.

BGA beat JPII twice scoring 26 runs and allowing only 3. The third game was rained out. Thought I'd throw that in.

MBA and JPII both lost series to BGA already and BA plays them next week. I think MBA is doing pretty well.
  10. Yea... Packer is going to UVA. I saw the game vs BGA and boy was he on. BGA, who have scored something along the lines of 45+ in the last four games, couldn't touch his curve which of course magnified his fastball. It hurt to watch, being on the BGA side. The kid is the real deal.
  11. The BGA kid? He was right handed... some parents said he came in for relief when the teams played earlier in the season. He threw the ball hard, definatley, but as I said had some trouble hitting his spots. He had some decent off-speed stuff. Was that what you were asking?
  12. Attended the Classic this weekend hoping to catch some good baseball. On Thursday David Lipscomb was beat pretty well by Elmwood from Ohio. That night host BGA was routed by Christian Brothers out of Memphis. I saw BGA's pitcher Moore throw a no-hitter against Lipscomb on Friday. He looked pretty good, a little trouble hitting his spots (walked a few and hit a couple, he had the bases loaded in the 1st) but it didnt like Lipscomb was close on his fastball. I then watched Lipscomb lose to Christian Brothers. I didnt watch the night games, caught these results from the Tennessean: Elmwood lost to CBHS and BGA later that night. On Saturday I missed the 3rd place game (Elmwood beating David Lipscomb) but caught the championship between CBHS and BGA. CBHS jumped out early 7-2 in the 2nd but BGA fought back to make it aorund 11-9 going into the 6th, CBHS blew it open with a few funs and a homer by Matt Packer. Just want to say that I thought BGA did a great job with the tournament and I hope to watch CBHS and BGA in Murfreesboro later this spring.
  13. David Lipscomb went 0-4 Thurs. through Sat. at the BGA Classic invitational. They lost to Elmwood (OH) on Thursday, BGA and Christian Brothers High School (Memphis) on Friday and beat by Elmwood again on Saturday to take 4th place out of 4 at the tournament. Funny you should say how good of a hitting team they are because, If I'm not mistaken, the BGA pitcher threw a no-hitter against them on Friday, and it was only his first game of the year.
