Coach Wallie

I was lead to this site by one of my players. I use to read it when my son was playing, but over the last few years have just listened to my players talk about what was on here. Since I have recieved calls from coaches and players, I know from club, about this game, I have decided that this forum may serve me better to address all of you on the issue of this game. So, I joined today and am doing my first post. If I do this improperly, please forgive me I am a neophyte in addressing this site. Farragut will offer no excuses we lost to a better team on that day. Were they 10-1 better NO, Were they fresher, yes look at our bracket, were we dog tired, yes, Did their bracket offer them a break, yes We played 4 top 10 Teams that were all hard fought games in 96 hours and then had to play on a HUGE USC field against a Great Team( NorthWestern) that was much fresher team, playing in their home area against a tired out of state team, that lived in a hotel for 3 nights. During the game,They had the step on us on evrything because we were so tired. The Big Field, no, it was a Huge field, gives no mercy for a tired team, they only took 18 shots and scored 10 times, we just could not catch them with fatigued legs. Our Boys gave a valiant effort, they were not expected to get out their bracket with the teams that had been put in there., YET , we did. Our senior star Ben Lawson was never able to enter the field due to a broken arm. I played every player I had in the final game. No these are not excuses, heck, we were just beaten, but I wanted you to know the facts, so you could make your own judgement. Was it awful, You bet, Was it embarassing, You Bet, is it the end of our season or our potential NO WAY Several years ago after three good hard fought games the LADY VOLS were stomped in the SEC Tournament Final. Coach Summit said fatigue wore us down, but with some rest we will be ok with the NCAA championships because the games are spread out over a longer period of time and give a good team time to rest to have fair fresh matchups with other teams . She was right , they went on in the next couple of weeks to win the NCAA National championships that year. Farragut will be a force to contend with this year, The 10-1 score is only a factor to you our opponents if you want it to be. To us , it is over; lesson learned and the rest of the season is ahead to look forward to. I wish all the teams GOOD LUCK and injury free the rest of the year. Thanks for Listening, Coach Wallie
