  3. Looking for one or a couple of teams to come to our field in Waverly and play double header or round robin (if 3 or more teams) on Saturday, March 28. If interested, contact Waverly Head Coach Stephen Webb at stephen_webb@hotmail.com or 931-209-3741.
  4. Not sure which game ThaRealTruth was watching, but you are mistaken about Waverly's point guard, Tyler Dell. He did not play against Creek Wood. He dislocated his shoulder in practice last Thursday. He tried to give it a go the next night at Camden (which he shouldn't have), but really couldn't play. He went to the Doctor yesterday and has an MRI scheduled for Friday. Unfortunately, he is probably out for awhile and just hoping it's not a season ending injury. Having coached most all of the boys on Waverly and several (Edmondson, Turpin, R Cummings, G Cummings) from Creek Wood this is a good rivalry between players who are very competitive & respect each other. Creek Wood played well and earned the win last night. Waverly will bounce back and I look forward to watching at least a couple more good match ups with the Red Hawks.

  6. Getting closer to game time tonight for what is probably the biggest game for the Waverly football program in over 20 years. It's not a game that is going to make or break the season by any means as there is still a lot of football to be played. But it's a game that has this community as fired up as I can remember. It's great the way our community has come together to support a great group of young men & coaches who go out and give it their all every day in practice and on Friday nights. It's also nice to have the "rivalry game" meaning something again. Camden is a good program with a lot of recent success and no doubt this will be a tough game, but I really feel our boys are ready for this moment to step up and shine. The leaders on this team are used to winning last week's loss hurt them personally quite a bit. I look for them to bounce back tonight and get a win (prediction is 42-31), but if for some reason we don't come out victorious then I know they will have given it their all, played with honor and will get back to work on Sunday for next week. Let's hope for a great night of fierce competition with no injuries.

  8. If I'm not mistaken In the preseason or spring they played Inman (Henry County), DIckson County and Huntingdon. They beat all of them handily. In the regular season outside of the MTAC (which are teams that make up the high school district) they played and beat Ensworth and Decatur County/Riverside by huge margins. They will play anyone who will play them, but with the success they have had it's hard for them to get games. Camden won't even play them anymore. They have been undefeated the past 2 seasons with 2 MTAC championships. Coaching staff and players work hard and do a great job.
