1. Who are you? You seem to know me don't hide behind a fake name king21. LA has a great team and obviously beat us twice! Once was a really good butt whipping i will admit. The subject was about LA vs WC. Now thats just my opinion but you know it would be a great game it might one of those where LA would win at home and WC would win at home who knows. No need to get personal about it all but if you like i will be in LA all next week why don't you just come over and talk to me? LA has about 1100 students, WC about 1250 and JC 500. Alot of difference in the sizes of the schools as well my friend. LA is just a few away from being AAA and competing against WC and Cookeville on a regular basis along with all the other Murphreesboro schools but i do believe that these next two years they will be able to compete against most anyone! I will be pulling for LA as well as the rest of the schools from 7AA this post season and i for one hope that 7AA can represent the upper cumberland in the state this year!!! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

la doesn't have 1100 students. according to the tn deptarment of education, the most students they can have at this point is 981. that's assuming every special education student attends the highschool. look it up. http://www.state.tn.us/education/asr/05_06/doc/table8.pdf

p.s. according to this jackson county has 511, that's assuming they have zero special education students in their entire high school.

  2. QUOTE(hattrick7 @ May 21 2007 - 11:10 PM) 826464355Wow! Thats kinda harsh. I don't think that every West TN team would give up a game like this. I know that soccer might be a lot bigger in the east but the west still has a ton of talent. I have played for two travel teams from the west, one from Martin and one from Jackson, and both years we have come in third place in state and could have easly won it all each year. So don't think that everyone over here dosn't care. Hopefully Northside and Martin can show you that this year.

first, don't brag about something unless you win it just makes you look more like a loser. and you are probably talking about div II club which means nothing.

secondly, the west has christian brothers, houston, and ridgeway as constants. ecs, mus, usj, germantown, and sheffield have their good years where they make some noise, but never win it all. on the other hand, there are at least five teams every year in the greater knoxville area that are favorites to win the state tournament. while there are at least three every year from nashville and chattanooga that are the exact same way.

thirdly, in a/aa soccer, which this thread is about, the only team from the west to ever do anything was ridgeway. they won the state championship in '00 and '02 and were runner ups in '99 and '01. since ridgeway was moved from a/aa to aaa no west tennessee team has ever made the finals in a/aa soccer. that will be no different this year.

finally, no team from jackson or martin is going to show a team from knoxville, chattanooga, or nashville anything they haven't seen already. northside and westview are in for an unforgettable experience.

  3. QUOTE(bubblegum99 @ Mar 29 2007 - 10:06 AM) 826425678Mark Eldridge is a class act no doubt about it. He is a great coach and great person. He is to be commended on winning the AAA title. Any school would be fortunate to have him as their head basketball coach. On the other hand, Coach Melton has compiled 46-18 record in his two years at the helm for LA. 72% winning percentage is not bad. We will never know what Coach Eldridge could have done had he been at LA, but I think Melton has done a good job in his tenure at LA. Whether you like or dislike his sideline demeanor, regardless of what a lot of people will say, the W's and L's is the measuring stick. And as I stated earlier, 46 Wins in 2 seasons is pretty good.

it's not hard to compile 46 wins in district 7aa and playing 10 single a teams in a year. it doesn't matter how many games you win in the regular season what matters is how many you win in the tourney. it looks like coach eldridge has done a pretty good job at that both at anderson county and now at maryville.

  4. warren co. used to have a really good midfielder that didn't play when we scrimmaged them. does anyone know if he is back this year? because without him they do not have much besides one really good striker.

  5. big g i know that most of stone memorial's kids came from cumberland county high. i also know there girls basketball and girls soccer teams pulled several players from clarkrange high school. i doubt that any guys from clarkrange would help any but last season cumberland county had some very decent players and they would've been a very competitive double a team. if they have pulled the talented players from cumberland county then they could quite possibly be a team to watch out for. they might not be able to compete with the likes of cak or catholic, but from what i saw last year, if they pulled the right kids, they can beat a kingston and definetly a scott county.
