  1. Looks like USJ is clicking on all cylinders. If they stay healthy, they should make a deep run in the playoffs unless the TSSAA makes a mess of the brackets the way they did last year.
  2. Yeah but they would be playing the large schools unless the TSSAA made a rule that divided their enrolment by 2.
  3. If you don't already know, you probably never will. Nice jab about the science. LOL.
  4. Maybe so but these people obviously left for a reason. Why would you leave to pay for something that you could get for free? If all the privates came back, who would pay the enormous cost? In Madison county we have about 2500 in K-12 as private school students. The Jackson Sun carried a report a few weeks ago that we were one of the highest districts in the state in per/pupil spending for public education ($8,500 per student). Do you know what would happen if 2500 kids suddenly enrolled next year? Can we say "massive tax increase"? By my math that would be an additional 21.25 million dollars per year needed in an already overblown budget. Anyone that pays taxes should hug the next private school parent they meet for keeping their taxes low.
  5. Could someone explain to me how that Mckenzie is ranked above UC in this weeks 1A poll. They both have the same win loss record and UC beat Mckenzie.
  6. I'll go with Speed! Great kid, great athlete.
  7. It's not just the multiplier. It what they keep pilling on (i.e. The Z plan). This forces teams that already have their enrollment almost doubled by the highest multiplier in the nation to play teams over 3 times there enrolment. I'm sure that if this fails to prevent any of the ones that stay from getting to the playoffs that the TSSAA will implement the X plan. This would entail the public flogging of private school players followed by tar and feathering. They would then be required to play teams 5 times there enrollment.
  8. According to the TSSAA fall enrollment numbers USJ=350 and Milan=626. But if you have a few hundred to spare, send them over. Especially the ones that are big and fast.
  9. It ought to be. It costs the taxpayers $8400 per student to attend the dilapidated facilities that require full time police to roam the halls.
  10. Congratulations on a big win. It was a very exciting game!
  11. And if you read Article II ,these athletes are in D2 schools. You are not allowed to be an athlete and do this in a D1 school. It is considered finacial aid. There was a D1 school that had to give up a state championship just because a player was a few months behind on his tuittion payments. Like I said if you have player names and schools I'll be glad to forward that info to the TSSAA.
  12. I find nothing here pertaining to D1 these are only for aid in D2. D1 is not allowed aid to student/athletes. I'm not saying a wealthy booster can't hire a student/athlete to work for them. Does this ever happen? Maybe. Is this common and prevelant? I doubt it. There are a million ways around any rule. When I was in "goverment" school 30 years ago, there were a miriad of excuses and manuvers to move from one school to another.
  13. If you know of a student that is receiving aid and playing sports in D1 report them. That school will have to forfeit all games in which that student played. The key here is "D1".
  14. The 530 is not a hard number. The TSSAA wants to have 55 to 65 teams in each class. and a total of 70 for the combined classes 1A/2A. If a team is projected to be in 3A or above a 2a team on "the bubble" would most likely be moved up to 3A. With the number of private schools going to D2 under this odious plan, I see that 530 number going down to keep the numbers right. They are stacking this from top down so the bottom (1A/2A) which has 24 playoff spots (as oppssed to 32 for all the others) is the one most likely to be affected. Most of the small privates that will be making a decision to leave are at 275 to 400 students (495-720) with the multiplier. They have a little wiggle room on the upper classes but have to consider logistics but as you can see from the following statement it would apper that they intend to use 2a to fill any void left by exodus. The earlier press release stated it this way......... 2. Each class is divided in half by enrollment. AAA is divided into 6A/5A; AA into 4A/3A; A into 2A/1A. This will place approximately 55-65 schools in each football classification. If the number of football schools in Class A is less than 70, then the Board would determine whether Class A would be divided for playoffs or remain as one class. Using present enrollments, there would be 83 football-playing schools in Class A.
  15. The dozen does not rank teams based on "head to head". Anyone knows a strong 4A team will usually cream a great 1A team. The rankings reflect area teams results within their peer group. Like all rankings they are sujective.
  16. They are just doing what they feel is best for the kids with the cards they have been dealt. That is usually the motivation (in sending children to private schools) when a parent chooses to make sacrifices based on the options put before them. Based on your opinion, when would it be alright to complain? When they are required to play the UT practice squad during the regular season? No that's not a good example, they would win that game, let's make it Vanderbilt.
  17. The whole thing is a mess (mixing 3A with 4A etc.) Reminds me of the old adage "Be carefull what you wish for, You just might get it !"
  18. Well next time you see him tell him we need to play golf again. He'll have to pick up the green fees cuz I'm broke from paying for private out of state college. Go UC.
  19. I'm goin for Union City on this one. Have a great game Colton and make an old Diamond Dawg dad proud.
  20. I never felt that it diminished. I guess the two years that JCS remained in 1A while USJ went to 2A took a little luster off from a "must win to be division champ" standpoint. I'm sure that the move will revive that. The games between USJ, JCS and Trinity should be some of the seasons "must see games" for years to come.
  21. Classy comment. I see from your other posts that you are a Colton Speed fan. I am too. Glad to see he's playing football this year. He's a great baseball player. Looks like he's doing well in football. Knowing him and his parents well, I am sure that they would not force him to attend a Jackson PUBLIC school. The kids in these privates just want to compete but I don??™t call forcing a school with an enrollment of 300 to play schools with 900 plus competition.
  22. I think "Forced over" would be a more acurate description.
