  1. Yes, I do care. I read in an earlier post you would be here. I haven't heard whether Akula will. Maria Carillo will be traveling from California to play in the event again as they did in 2007, it will be interesting to watch the two matches.
  2. EagleEye777 * I would hope that most girls playing varsity soccer in high school have had some exposure to soccer outside of High School Soccer. This is something you teach your children as a parent. Taking advantage of a situation when the advantage is clearly in your favor and gloating? * Re the vastly superior, not to sure about that. Most of the players in West Tennessee play some sort of organized soccer and this is something that spills over from club.l The school they represent may have nothing to do with their experience. * Re the team I watched execute, it has been several and thus far it seems to be the most positive way to handle a mismatched opponent. No one likes to see it, No one wants to see if get ugly. Positives should result but it doesn't serve any positive purpose by double-digit on the scoreboard. Big G * One or two posts and it seemed to kick start the boards. Like squirting gas in carburetor. Eagle...one more thing. An alumni actually. And although football seems to have it's own set of unwritten rules, I wouldn't consider Miami guilty of running up scores. Winning un-winnable games, yes. If you ever have the time to watch the 30 on 30 segment on Miami, you may be surprised how this all developed. They saw themselves as the underdogs every game. AKula....will you be coming our way for RIvals?
  3. The last squad I saw would take the ball to the goal and deliver a pass to keeper, turn and sprint to the half line and set up again for the punt. The Game ended in a 4-0 result. Both teams got a workout, both teams benefited, What a team gets out of a 16-0 win must be similar to a masochist with a magnifying glass frying ants.,,,I guess
  4. Regardless of the amount of SPIN you put on it, at the final whistle the score goes in the book as disrespectful, Yes, it is all a matter of opinion. personally, I find no joy in backing up over a deer that I have hit in the road and running it over again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again. My point is yours. The game was over at 3-0. Everyone of the field knew it. From that point, there wasn't a contest. I realize you didn't schedule it and had no control over that., Control what you can. We taught our daughter that very early, She put the ball OVER the cross bar every time.
  5. STRONGSVILLE is the correct spelling, they are consistently in the top ten. Nice Win Baylor EVANSVILLE was #12 on ESPN's most recent poll ST URSALA had moved up to #10 We will see MARIA CARRILLO here in Collierville for the RIVALs event Thanks for the update just-do-it. I had been getting texts from there and Bearden, but there is nothing like seeing it first hand. A lot of times the scores don't match the result....soccer
  6. West coast last weekend... great matches.
  7. Really? How are things in Lilliput?
  8. St Agnes & Collierville @ Zionsville Event this weekend and Houston travels to Bearden.
  9. Here is my suggestion... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGPzicM7Cf0&feature=grec_index
  10. Friday, August 12th St Agnes 1 - Collierville 1 Both teams appeared to have played their rosters including new keepers
  11. Cannon. there is one simple solution and we personally considered it. Move to another state. Before you do, you really need to ask yourself, is that going to make the difference...odds are....no.
  12. Unfortunately, it's not about math, its about talent and commitment
  13. McKensie Bricker - Collierville - 95 Lobos - ....TBD Susannah Dennis - Houston - 90 Fury BGA - Real Madrid 90 .....Univ of Georgia Cindy Parlow - Germantown High Fury ....UNC
  14. Can't agree with you on that. By not playing High School, they are missing out on the mental development they will need to play at the next level. THis has been discussed every year at least once, but for consistency sake... Playing in high school develops a player: (1) despite starting on their club team, they may just find out that's the only place they will start (2) there are less talented, but certainly larger and more fit players that will equalize their skill (3) they will learn that competition just doesn't exist on match day and learn the stress of being challenged everyday (4) they will learn the pecking orders of * seniors-junior-sophomores-freshman * varsity & JV * starters and non-starters 4) they may learn that the jerks they compete against in club from the "other" team may turn out to be pretty cool people, frankly cooler than their own team 5) they will learn to play for pride for their school and actually be on the topic of their classmates. 6) Finally, if they don't get their way and start, it is much harder to change schools than to change teams and they may just learn a great life lesson in that...sometimes you just have to suck it up ...real life has begun
  15. In as much as I support the concept, the reality is that any college or college coach worth playing for will be coaching college players and not recruiting in the fall. So save your tears for another topic. They occasionally show up for states, but that may be because they failed to qualify for any post season play.....
  16. Congratulations to Hardin Valley. You played a great tournament. Great soccer
  17. Hey Hey HEY! Quit throwing logic into this discussion! Maybe we should adopt some of basketball and play each other 7 times in a row...
  18. Why not? It doesn't get in the way of the officiating
  19. You weren't a knowledgeable poster when you were IN state
  20. There is one theory that no one has even mentioned yet....that all you guys are getting old
  21. In addition to the boards, it is also waning in the stands. For Boys Soccer, season matches are looking like a ghost town in the stands. It one thing when you have the walkout before the game and the players outnumber the fans....its another when the number of refs outnumber the fans in the stands. I would say attendance has dropped by 50-70% at matches in boys soccer. The boards are very stale. Likely other locations for the chatter (Facebook, etc)
  22. That however bad it may seem, it can always get worse. In this case, a bad play took place and instead of letting the umpire eject the player....well, the benches cleared and not only did more players receive ejections, it had far more reaching results. There was talk that neither school would send ANY spring team to playoffs. That may have been talk but a fight had taken place just the week before in the parking lot after a sporting event. (I thought we collapsed our fight club??) Despite what took place (it sounds like it was several fans), both teams seem to have kept their cool.
  23. Hate'n on the SEC?? Shame on you. ALthough your win column is hurting the rest of the conference isn't. I read this earlier today and thought this may be a good place to share this.... http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/apr/14/briarcrest-houston-receive-two-year-postseason-bas/
  24. Your not far from the mark. Several weeks ago, a large number of people were hoping Butler pulled off the unthinkable. To defeat an established program. Did everyone hate UCONN (perhaps, but that's not important right now)...no, they wanted to see the team that had the odds against them succeed and join in the celebration. In a weird and round about way, we see ourself in each of those teams and it gives us hope and the drive in our own lives. The same happened at the previous year's superbowl when 'aint's became the Superbowl Champions in a great battle. They faced an extreme amount of adversity but overcame it all to lead their team, and more importantly, their fans and a weathered city to believe what could be done, despite the odds. So. No one hates Farragut. It's good to see another program or two surface and get into the mix. Will they celebrate when they win? yes. Likely the only criticism they will receive is from the team they defeated. Give them their day. You and other teams had yours. It is good to see parity in this sport as that is frankly what makes it great to watch over most other sports. At the end of the day, despite the resources, top shelf uniforms and practice facilities, it is the best team that will succeed and the sad reality is that money can't always buy the best team. Have a great season, and for the record, I'm okay with Boise.
  25. Looks like we can shut this thread down, you've just validated everything the board was commenting on....priceless
