  1. Definetly two top programs with talented ladies and exciting plays both offensively and defensively by Baylor and St Agnes. Not too suprising since there were at least 9 D1 commitments on the field. Glad I could watch on TSSAA site especially since it was such a disappointing article in the timesfreepress on the final games. However, Gene Henley had a great State Contenders article on Wednesday to set up the tournament weekend. Too bad he was reassigned.
  2. Agree with you BigG. Good luck to our TN teams! ******Pasted from ESPNHS website******* This is the preseason POWERADE FAB 50 ESPNHS Team rankings for the fall season. The first regular-season rankings will be released Tuesday, Aug. 30. The fall-playing states are: California (one section), Connecticut, D.C, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington and West Virginia. When it comes to determining a preseason FAB 50 No. 1, these factors are key: top-end talent, a proven record of success and a quality schedule. No team better matches that description than Strongsville (Strongsville, Ohio).
  3. ESPN rankings mention Houston, I think that's where my confusion began. Also mentions St Agnes and Houston set to play (Sept 8). That should be a great game to watch!
  4. My apologies, it is Collierville and not Houston. Nice times article. Congrats to all the Baylor girls on their committments!
  5. My apologies, it is Collierville and not Houston. Nice times article. Baylor looks loaded.
  6. Baylor, St Agnes & Houston in Ohio tournament playing ESPN nationally ranked teams this weekend. Good luck to all these TN teams! http://zionsvilleinvitational.teamopolis.com/ Sent from my iPhone
  7. I'm in agreement with Futbolfan and Rabblerouser. How are these selections made? It has been my impression that they must first be nominated by their high school coach (with the # of nominations based on state finish) Having seen these these girls play on their high school and against us in club, I would say slighted is an understatement. These are some of the best in the state in my opinion. What's up???
  8. Baylor-3 Brentwood Academy-2 Baylor, having play their last game over 2 weeks ago, looked a bit rusty in the first half with Brentwood outplaying the Raiders and taking a 2-0 half time lead. Baylor came back strong in the second half scoring 3 goals for the win. Baylor goals by Taylor Pannell, Peyton Thomas, and Chloe Brackett.
  9. GPS was playing a tough physical defensive game and marking Baylor's top play makers, Thomas and Brackett. The GPS defender had been given a yellow card for taking down Bracket in regulation play. On this play, Brackett, neck and neck with the defender, dribbled through to a one on one with Busby in the box. She was about to strike the ball but was taken down with a body slam from behind. I'm not sure I could call it intentional....just looked like the GPS defender slammed into her from behind as the Baylor forward stopped her run to take the shot. In any case, she hit the player, from behind, and no ball. I happened to be in direct line with the action and there was no disagreement on the call from anyone (parents from both schools) who saw it from this angle. I was suprised to see the TFP article questioning it but I guess it could have looked different from the far end of the field watching from behind or if wearing blue.
  10. Yes, it looks like St Agnes has had three ties while Baylor is 14-0 and should be deserving of the top D2 spot. One of the teams St Agnes tied is PJP which Baylor will play on Thursday. I believe it is the only team that both schools play so the outcoming could be telling.
  11. Which teams remain undefeated.... at least in their region?
  12. Found this on the TSSAA website from last year. The brackets for the 2009-10 season have not been posted but this may give you some idea. http://www.tssaa.org/2008Champions/Stat ... r/home.htm
  13. I'm not sure that it's laziness on the coaches part. There is the arguement that you bred players more concercened with individual stats than the unity or success of the team. When you ask the players, might want to ask a few defenders.
  14. Does it really matter? Without considering strength of the team's schedule it means very little. Any coach can leave a forward in on weaker teams and let them "run up the stats". It's done by some every year while other coaches won't submit stats at all for this very reason. Opinion?
