I only know TC as a powerhouse staple. What’s the issue? I know Gordonsville is good…but…

Most people expected a drop off in talent for TC, but it seems worse than what was originally thought, and tbh, that was one of the most disorganized teams I've seen on that sideline, along with a lot of blame being thrown around. There wasn't a solid team dynamic from the coaches down.

My Highlanders travel west this Friday to take on a tough Clay County team. I'm really looking forward to this trip to Celina as I used to date a one armed girl from there back in the day. She was drop dead gorgeous and could shoot a shotgun better than any guy I know. The things that she could do with that one arm. Oh well, anybody got any predictions on how this game might go?

We've struggled pretty good lately, but we haven't stopped fighting. Our offensive production has been non-existent the last few games. We do play better on the road and hopefully we can score some points on this tiny 1A school.

I look for Clay to win by a lot.

  3. Many are stating that Gordonsville isn't that good. They may be right, however, I think the issue is that so many things were changed in the off-season, along with injuries, that it's taking time to come together.

So far, they've been inconsistent. For example. I think Coalfield is better than Jo Byrns. We blew out Coalfield and JB kept it close. The only thing that makes sense is Gville's inconsistency.

Either way, we have two games to get it together before we play Celina. That's the one that really counts.

Thanks for some explanation on that. I was wondering what happened after the first two possessions. Croz any injuries to speak of.

We should be as healthy this week as we've been all year. We've had several injuries throughout the preseason and the earlier part of the season, but we're healing up.

It's crazy to think all the good teams that have come through Gordonsville only 2 wins in the last 34 games. That just gives you an idea of the choke hold Trousdale has had for so many years on 1A/2A football in this area.

I see where Trousdales youth football teams are a combined 14-1 this year so help is on the way. It's just currently in 1st - 6th grade.

I don't know if the TC faithful can wait that long, because I don't see the talent pool getting any better until then. They may can coach them up, but lack of that seems to be complaints now, so...

Gordonsville hasn't won this game since 2016, but that looks to change this year. I wasn't impressed with the Gordonsville/Jo Byrns score but I think this game is decided by halftime.

The Gville/JB score was way closer than it should've been, but there some reasons for that. Mainly, JB's gameplan. They wanted to run the clock and they did. I think Gville had 3 possessions each half. They scored easily on their first 2. I think the 3rd ended on 4th down inside the 10. In the 2nd half we were eat up by penalties, and the 3rd possession of the 2nd half was when we took a knee.

No need to keep creating these threads for the Trousdale games. It’s hard to believe but yes they are pitiful this year. Gordy is 2-32 against the jackets since 1987 but will get win number three next Friday night. Enjoy.

That record isn't entirely accurate. There were some years they didn't play when TC was 3A, so the loss total is less by about 4 games. Either way, TC has been dominant. However, there have been many very close and good games in that time frame.

    They'll be back.

Rarely have they tasted the bitter side of what it's like to be a small town school.  They've always feasted.  Regardless of circumstances or opponents. And rightfully so.

They'll be back.  Stinging that backside.

I'm sure they'll be back, but it might take longer than many think. Maybe when those that are in elementary get up to the high school level, but not until then, I don't think.

  9. Gordonsville is a huge favorite going into this game coming off their big win, as Jo Byrns last two games have been blowout losses.

However, if JB is anything, they're always tough and we'll coached, but it seems that in the last few years, JB has gotten our best effort.

I always look forward to going up there as I would put their concessions against any on the state.

The difference tonight was Gordonsville has a WR that has been hurt most of the year play out of his mind. I’ll be interested to hear his stats, in the ballpark of 4 catches 200+ yards 2 TD’s

I think it was only 3 receptions, but he was over 200 yards with 2 tds.

Is Gordonsville starting to put the pieces together and play as good as the score shows or is Coalfield having a bad game or not as good as expected.

     A little bit of both.

We sat several starters tonight, but as mentioned, #15 started it off with a bang. 1st play from scrimmage was a TD for about 75 yards. Our 2nd play from scrimmage was about a 60 yard pass to inside 5.

I feel like we let up quite a bit in the 3rd allowing CF to score. Their 3rd score came from their starters on our 3rd string. I think everyone got on the field for at least one play.

The passing game was big as Coalfield was playing to stop the run. I thought we could've hit more as we had mismatches in the passing game, but why show everything in one game?

Defensively, we didn't get a pass rush all night, but it seems we were only rushing 3 and playing coverage most of the time.

All in all, I feel like it was a well played game on our part, and the HC for CF said that he hopes we're playing at CF on Black Friday. I agreed.

  12. This game will show what each team has to offer as far as who will represent the East this year.

I feel like Gville has improved leaps and bounds since the first couple of weeks, and I feel like they will handle business quite a bit better than if this game was played week 1.  The best thing for Gville would be that they be able to run the ball like they did last week. We have some outstanding playmakers at WR, and we have to get the ball in their hands, but nothing replaces a good running game.

    Gville 27-7.

  13. Coalfield has only one close game, and that one shouldn't have been close. I know it's difficult to get a proper guage looking at scores, but I believe Gordonsville has played much better competition. I believe Smith, Watertown, Eagleville, and Lakeway would all have the same record as Coalfield if they played their schedule up to this point. I also believe OS would have a better record than what they do now, and I believe they'll eventually play all the same teams.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slighting Coalfield's schedule; you have to play who's in your region. With the exception of Wartburg, Coalfield has went out and handled business pretty handily. So, it will be a tough test for Gville for sure.
