  1. Ain't goin' to happen........at least anytime in the near future. The economics will prevent it, unless there is a generous donor somewhere in the future. There are a lot of nice soccer parks in the state however, especially in middle and west TN. Knoxville is lacking for a large, quality facility. Nice one in Tri-Cities area.
  2. Finally........Just FYI, Impact and Smokey Mountaing soccer clubs are now combined....FCAlliance. So Impact 92 and Velocity will be under the FCAliance now. Looking for another great year.
  3. Talking about college post-season and TN soccer movin' up.......Just look at Belmont, Carson Newman, Maryville and UT all winning their conference championships! There are a bunch of TN girls on those rosters. (and hopefully a few more in the future.)

  5. I can't believe you violated your 1st rule in your own post........you mentioned your daughter's name! But I guess this time an exception can be made. I hope you will still monitor all of the press releases and keep us all up to date. Also keep us posted on your daughter's career, and keep us posted on how to deal with post-school, post-club withdrawals.
  6. Coaching certainly helps, but the bottom line is still found in the #'s of club players, and the depth of those club players. I think there are similarities with boys' baseball.
  7. To the best of my knowledge, there are two all-state teams. One is picked by the sports writers, and the other by the coaches. And of course there are local/area 'all' teams. It is my understanding that one has to be chosen for a district team, then a regional team, to be eligible for the state teams. I quess there could be some exceptions, but not certain. While I am sure there are some talented girls appearing in the state champ games, I think the selections come from all teams based on the individual positions, the work throughout the season, character, and coaching input. It wouldn't surprise me if there are other factors, but I don't think an appearence in the state games makes you all-state......but it probably doesn't hurt unless you have a bad game.
  8. Technicality.......PK, if on frame is a SOG, or simply a shot if not.......I think
  9. Yeah, but hey, that's soccer. How many times has a team controlled the majority of the game, only to come up short on the score? I hate it, but it happens a lot. Give me two shots on goal a game, that connect with the back of the net, and I'm on the winning team the majority of the time.
  10. That 'halo-effect' will pretty much blind you. Earlier it was mentioned that DB was possibly slighted. That obviously has proven true. Should you rank teams at this point of the season on their whole body of work, or simply how they end up at the end of the season? I can see the arguments either way, maybe with a little bit of both aspects considered, but unlike the BCS, that is why there is a championship. #1 will have earned it, without a doubt. Some teams match up differently, but I'm pulling for DB just from a region perspective.
  11. Great game with a lot of emotion on both sides. A couple of goals by Bearden nullified by off-sides calls. Pretty physical but nothing that affected the outcome but intense play. Got to hand it to the OR defense as they never let Bearden have a clear shot, although Bearden had several good runs at the goal and had a couple of near-misses. 1st half pretty much a see-saw battle, OR pressed about 2/3 of the 2nd half. I think both teams will make it to state.

yeah, to some degree, but what really makes you better are the better players from club teams /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Still the halo effect I guess. West's 4 losses come at the hands of only two teams, Bearden, the #1 team in the state and Oak Ridge@ #5. And none of those games were cake walks. Which brings up the 'new' districts, if passed as proposed. How brutal can district 4 get with Bearden, Farragut, Maryville, West, and Hardin Valley which in another year or two will definitely be tough!?! 4
  14. And it looks like OR has a cake walk in district 3

Maybe they are meaningless, but we still have them and I certainly don't buy stock in them. But, where is the signature win for Soddy? Notre Dame.......look at the rest of their schedule. What about DB, they aren't ranked either. To me, it is heavily influenced by being from Nashville or the Brentwood regions. The whole point is that at the end of the year only one team is going to be a winner, but that doesn't mean that some other teams didn't have a good season and the polls are just a way of recognition. If you look at the new coachT thread http://tennessee.coacht.com/boards/index.p...howtopic=181557 it seems to try and represent in a more objective way.

Well I certainly agree...........but if that's the case, lets just shut down the whole thread. Anytime anyone plays Bearden they have their hands full. A very talented team, most I know them and their families. Just making a comment to the credit of West and their season, win or lose, and it doesn't bother my focus one way or the other, if that's OK with you.

Now that it is basically the end of season, I've got to say that Knox West seems to be slighted some in the polls. Their only losses are to ranked teams........arguably the best in the State. A good portion of the wins are against teams with good records. I think that when records, goals against, etc are considered they a worthy of a better ranking, especially given the same records for other teams.
  18. Must be someone from the opposing teams supplying the scores, recent losses posted, by not the W from the Powell semi-final game.
  19. West @ Oak Ridge.......Region 2, District 3 final This game was cancelled last nite and played today @ 3. Three minutes into the game Greta Jochmann is left uncovered at about 25 yards out and fires a bullet into the upper right corner for a 1 -0 lead. West was on their heels for most of the first half , with a shot count of 10 for OR vs. 2 for West. The second score was a very nice crossing shot that was kicked in from about 10yds out for a 2-0 lead with about 2 minutes to go in the half. The second half was still mostly OR but the shot count was 5 West and 4 OR. West scored on a very nice crosser that was headed in by Sydney Reed with about 3 minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately the intensity came just a little too late for West. Lauren Fritts came up with a couple of very good saves for OR. Final score OR2 - West 1 I believe that West will play @ Bearden in the Region semi, while Farragut will play @ Oak Ridge, next Tuesday
  20. Ditto for Knox West.....plus we have excellent half-time trivia questions!!! Also, just for the record, it is extremely hard to ask a team to move to a neutral site for their home games. We have many students as well as teachers who will stop by to watch a game that otherwise would not attend. Kids at this age would rather play in front of their peers than parents. This just makes for easier access, plus locker rooms, easier concessions, etc.
  21. eurosport hasn't updated the quarterfinal district game for West. Although they do have the final game listed. Since I haven't been cleared by National Security to do so, is there someone to contact regarding this?
