  1. i think from recent history... sam edgemon's offensive skills, jerry cobb's nose for the ball on defense, kendall dangerfield's "man among boys" dominance on the line of scrimmage, and quon reynolds's motor that never quit... all of these were GCHS superstars and some are still playing.
  2. Have only timed once or twice this year but I would say 20 run 5 flat or under. A couple of guys are 4.5, a couple 4. 6-4.7, etc...
  3. the results are on our website now... i will try to give the link 2009 District 12 AA Lifting Competition Results
  4. fyi on the total pounds lifted that not every team brought two guys in each weight class. but yes giles county outlifted the nearest team by like a 1,000 pounds!
  5. the coaches make us go low enough to touch our butt to one of the blocking dummies. tall players hate it. we don't have anyone near 5 or 600lbs. we do have two or three that squat 400 and that is going low. i would say half of our team can squat over 300 going that low.
  6. both josh and tobias are really strong. josh looks like an olympic lifter when he does his clean... i think he got 275. the results were posted on our website last year. i bet they will be this year to.
  7. teams that were there: 1. giles county 2. spring hill 3. marshall county 4. cornersville 5. hickman county 6. lincoln county 7. page was surprised that lewis county was not there. they have a reputation for being strong. also, coach had said that lawrenceburg would be there, but they weren't
  8. keep your head up bo. lots of haters out there.
  9. giles dominated the lifting competition last night. boykins did over 300 pounds in clean and bench! he is a chance to pass kendall "mookie" dangerfield (now at mtsu) as the strongest player in gchs history. giles won 6 of the 9 weight classes: winners were boykins, tobias, josh smith, josh brewer, b.j. morris, and damien reynolds. the other 3 weight classes were won by a dude from cornersville, a strong guy from lincoln county, and a huge dude from spring hill.
  10. tennessee is going after bigger fish. they are missing out in my opinion but they are the "dream team" coaching staff so i am sure they know what they are doing. bo is a player and has good size. he will be playing d1 ball somewhere.
  11. why did lewis county not come to the district lifting competition last night?
  12. coach said yesterday that not all of the teams from the new district were coming but that they found some other teams... lawrenceburg and lincoln county will be there
  13. i think columbia will have a good chance to go undefeated in district play. lincoln county and tullahoma are well coached but don't have the talent that columbia has. columbia has some solid talent. they have been playing some tough teams from williamson county which has made them better. belew is a real speciman. the qb has a strong arm. goff is a beast. columbia is my pick.
  14. man a 400 bench in high school!?! i would think there would only be a few high school players in the nation that could bench that much
  15. i was thinking giles county would be the favorite to win this, but on the lewis county thread is says they have 20 guys that bench over 250! that is about twice as many as we have. the bobcats need to get to work!
  16. wow that is a really strong team. i thought we (giles co.) had some pretty strong guys but we only have two benching over 300 and about 10 others that bench 250 or better. with those numbes ya'll should be the favorite to win the lifting competition in march.
  17. we only bench and clean at this competition. giles county has been in one each of the last three years and won the team competition each year. we like to compete with ourselves and other teams. someone else is always working trying to outwork you.
  18. marshall county is having a lifting competition for the teams that make up the new district 12 AA. it is going to be tuesday, march the 3rd in marshall county's indoor facility. the competition should give an idea where the teams stand strength wise compared to each other. lewis county, hickman county, east hickman, fairview, giles county, marshall county, page, and spring hill should be in attendance.
  19. 2010 will be a good class for sho, but i wouldn't put them above 2008 yet!
  20. marshall county is hosting a lifting competition for all the teams in this new district 12 AA. i think it is at the start of march.
  21. lipscomb could have played week 0 if they wanted. several jamborees are available before week 0. coach mc didn't want to play giles co. next year unless he couldn't find another game... his words. he knows that the mustangs return few starters while the bobcats return the majority of theirs... pretty smart on his part.
  22. david lipscomb and lincoln county were not interested in scheduling for next year. probably because we return a ton of players with experience. we lose a small group of seniors but we will miss a few quality guys from that group that were very good players with great character and work ethic... motts, timms, newton, campbell, dienye, etc...
  23. the only problem is that the schools don't necessarily play by the same rules. the security guy on our sideline basically bragged about how his daughter and son go to david lipscomb (son is a freshmen football player). he said he helps set up chemistry lab for the university or something (doesn't have a college degree). then he explained that since he works for david lipscomb his kids get to go for FREE. this was a surprise to me. I hadn't heard this talked about before and it made me a little mad, but before i start accusing david lipscomb of bending the rules i wanted to ask vandy1 if this is true. do children of parents that work for david lipscomb go for free or at a reduced rate?
  24. giles county has a great group of rising seniors for a little ole county school. bo wallace - qb - 6'3 185 - 4.75 tobias houston - rb - 5'11 195 - 4.65 derico brown - wr - 5'11 160 - 4.6 brad strickland - t - 6'2 255 josh norwood - t - 6'2 270 josh smith - rb/lb - 5'9 185 - 4.6 russ cobb - lb - 6'1 170 - 4.8
  25. the mustangs in general are a classy team. they do have individuals this year (#44 and sometimes #42) they don't always act classy on the field. they especially love to do the "extra" stuff when things are going well for them but also when they are frustrated from things not going the way they normally do. the offensive line for Giles County that I mentioned earlier is not particularly big... but they are smart, well-coached, and work well together. Motts - 6' 250 Strickland - 6'2 240 Bass - 5'9 220 Dienye - 5'9 210 Norwood - 6' 260 TE - Timms - 5'10 210 TE - Christopher - 5'10 190
