  1. you know a lot of people try to make a big deal out of the baylor wrestlers waiting until after the match to shake their opponents and opposing coaches hands - why does that bother some - ??
  2. Notre Dame has a solid team and will be hard to beat even with the marable kid across the way . N.D. coaches have done a good job w/ that program -
  3. decent 103 , but very shrunk down in my opinion - I imagine their thoughts are anything is better than a forfeit but I am not in a position to speak for them- don't know where the youngs certified - hopefully some good wrestling this weekend . -
  4. very good in several western states , only marginal around home
  5. somebody slap me im going to agree with rabbitt - soddy late in the year will always be much improved - go Soddy
  6. baylor by 2 in a war , don't think simpson isn't up to major line-up shifts - that is a great part of the fun of the duals , how often can you go into a competition with 4 teams with a very legitimate shot - should be fun to watch - on a different note, someone start a thread on how mba and mccallie stack up.
  7. i don't know if they wrestled this year, but do know, that whitaker won the knoxville tournament that baylor attends in early december
  8. I am a little slow on my response but the way I count it, you were 7of 14 , don't become a bookie - on a more serious note friday night was a wonderful event to witness thanks to both teams for an exciting event - good luck in states hope baylor uses their one chance wisely - jt
  9. i'll let you know , i'm lobbying for a slab myself - did you know your nephew drew brought me 4 sacks of louisiana oysters when he came back from baton rouge-they were magnificant - later jt
  10. baylor won the git w/ corey manson and dan waddell receiving OW baylor outdistanced woodford Co. kentuck by approx 23 points baylors lower school won the mcCallie Duals in the finals by approx 25 over seymour baylors alumni ~2002 charlie wheland boated a 525 lb. bluefin tuna in 1 hr. 1 minute off the coast of north carolina It was a good day ! good luck to all - jt
  11. baylor's light weights start vs. collins hill while baylors upperweights start vs. lafayette at least that's what I heard - jt
  12. back in the fall of 76 , I , along with the help of several parents raised $7000.00 to purchase uniforms and a new wrestling mat . We cut firewood, and with the kids help, loaded out the firewood. We had no problem selling every load we could cut over 9/10 weekends - the community knew what we were trying to do and supported our efforts. In this litiguous world we live in today cutting firewood may be too dangerous but it started a wrestling program in 1976,which is still active.
  13. ross your chirping like a little bird - you guys must be good - jt
  14. you must have an alterior motive to your comments -bodylock - as geismar/simpson have had nothing but great competition last year and this year - you must be either young or never were lucky enough to have a coach teach you that if you gave it your all you are a winner/champion regardless... - jt
  15. hats off to marable, his stength was even more than i had imagined- also congrats to spencer , it appeared to me spencer could have been at 40 ,if not -easily 45 - that's a tall order giving that much size against a national champion - good luck to spencer in senior nationals-jt
  16. yea i hear coach morgan is really unfair-and the kids don't like him -jt
  17. well stated and congrats to your son on his demeanor - great kid !-tough as nails and I don't think we're through hearing about Ben Johnson - good luck in Clarksville - jt
  18. Doster also beat both opponents, but i agree that should be a good match.
  19. Fun atmosphere - less than stellar performance by Baylor's team -Hopefully they will show a better effort in two weeks when the stakes are raised;but only. if they can get past the Irish.Congrats to the McCallie Team .-jt
  20. Well, I've been on the road for a few days with that thing called work and got in and checked my office stuff;then, as I so often do, I checked in to see what was going on in the Tenn. wrestling scene I want to thank all of you negative posters for the compliments. I can't and won't speak for Baylor- but ,in my opinion, one of our wrestlers must have laid one on you or your little boy. One of the posters mentioned tennis. Maybe that sport would better suit most of the negative posters' temperaments because our sport (if you are a wrestler or a true supporter of a wrestler) is the greatest there is, tough on parents , grand parents, siblings, girl friends and the wrestlers themselves. You can't blame the quarterback- this sport gets a little personal and loud. I meant no negative reflection on tennis. Its actually a great sport and in a lot of aspects similar to wresting ( just too ###### quiet)'. I am proud to say that my three sons learned a lot of life lessons on the mat about winning, and, even more importantly, about losing graciously. I can't leave out the positive impact wrestling has had on my daughter. She doesn't wrestle but is very involved and has witnessed a lot of the same things(life lessons). Why are we such a big group of vocal fans? Well, we've been wrestling longer (except for maybe Mccallie). We have third generation stuff going on with some families and that creates a lot of fans . A lot of our grandmothers (like Mrs. Simpson) understand more about this sport than some. As for the thing that happened at State Duals 4 years ago, it was unfortunate. I don't hold Coach Simpson responsible, but it did esculate tensions between programs. To whoever was taking a cheap shot at Tim Manson - You couldn't have picked a worse target . Do your homework, ask the Nashville or Memphis summer wrestlers what type of kid he is. Even his competitors like and respect him. If you think you are going to intimidate the Baylor Wrestling Family from supporting their wrestlers because you got your feelings hurt ,don't count on it .Heck, we may have some new fog horns made!! - later, jt
  21. tssaa..... unless that has changed this year, i am not saying i agree with that just that in the past that was procedure for d2 - jt
  22. you are right , my bad , i forgot that they take 3 teams-good chance they might meet ,but again ,unless things have changed -matches wrestled at state duals have no bearing on seeding process-jt
  23. state dual results don't count in d2 seeding process unless that has changed this year , also not likely he will meet spike at duals; however, good luck to your wrestler - jt
  24. rmc got you covered , as long as you know where to sit , make a little noise, and i'm not in a post-match funk- by the way, how is drew - jt
