  1. joe coaches @ woodford , he was maybe 158 - fletcher was a 190 pounder ~6 ft. 1 , not a ounce of fat , I think fletcher ended up runner -up in the ncaa's not sure though -I did have the pleasure(dis) of wrestling Fletcher in the Southern Open. The connection was Tampa ,possibly also Miami . Nate was also the same family., probably the father of Nate Jr. whom RMC mentioned - they had southern wrestling ties @ kentucky , Tampa and now Joe coaching in Kentucky and Herm you are right if I wrestled for Joe I'd do my best to make him happy - he has a good stare
  2. Baylor Wrestling Coach Jim Morgan won national coach of the year honors(college level) when he was the U.T. Chattanooga coach. He has been nominated for a similar High School Honor. Morgan , now in his 20th year with Baylor wrestling has been named 2004 Southern Section Coach of the Year by the National Federation of High School Coaches Association. Receiving the sectional award makes Morgan a finalist for the national award which will be announced April 1. Baylor's AD Austin Clark said. "This is a sectional award but he's my coach of the year every year. He stands for all that is about coaches and coaching and they couldn't find a better national coach of the year winner."
  3. sorry hit it twice see morgan post
  4. Good article , speaks to his 47-4 fresh season , 40-2 soph. season , and undefeated this year as a junior - highlights his losses as well as victories in comp w/ Dunning. nice article well deserved - Good Luck! Corey
  5. i think you mean he would have to beat young in the semis to have a chance to wrestle oddo , if oddo is the other sides finalist

  8. that is very interesting as well - my original post was not to talk about one team or another but these interesting possibilities- should be interesting as weigh ins conclude
  9. I would think cody would go 135 , for the same reason dunning would go 119 - senior nationals - is marable just a junior - bateman for ryan was impressive- i hear pope jp has a good 215 are any of their other weights impressive.
  10. Who does everyone think will win each weight class in the traditional state tournament
  11. this thing is going down hill - to any baylor supporters- let it go - this guy is not worth the time - manson and dunning deserve better - let it go
  12. Irishdad, did you go to watch one of fourteen matches? If so, that's too bad, there were some great matches. I actually sat with some guys from father ryan and we had fun throwing banter back and forth all night. I was even lucky enough to end up with some coca-cola money when the match was over. As for getting some , if that 6-4 win satisfied your appetite-fine , but I am surprised at your comments. They seem a little premature as the only match anyone will remember in a year or two takes place in two weeks.
  13. you know a lot of people try to make a big deal out of the baylor wrestlers waiting until after the match to shake their opponents and opposing coaches hands - why does that bother some - ??
  14. Notre Dame has a solid team and will be hard to beat even with the marable kid across the way . N.D. coaches have done a good job w/ that program -
  15. decent 103 , but very shrunk down in my opinion - I imagine their thoughts are anything is better than a forfeit but I am not in a position to speak for them- don't know where the youngs certified - hopefully some good wrestling this weekend . -
  16. very good in several western states , only marginal around home
  17. somebody slap me im going to agree with rabbitt - soddy late in the year will always be much improved - go Soddy
  18. baylor by 2 in a war , don't think simpson isn't up to major line-up shifts - that is a great part of the fun of the duals , how often can you go into a competition with 4 teams with a very legitimate shot - should be fun to watch - on a different note, someone start a thread on how mba and mccallie stack up.
  19. i don't know if they wrestled this year, but do know, that whitaker won the knoxville tournament that baylor attends in early december
  20. I am a little slow on my response but the way I count it, you were 7of 14 , don't become a bookie - on a more serious note friday night was a wonderful event to witness thanks to both teams for an exciting event - good luck in states hope baylor uses their one chance wisely - jt
  21. i'll let you know , i'm lobbying for a slab myself - did you know your nephew drew brought me 4 sacks of louisiana oysters when he came back from baton rouge-they were magnificant - later jt

  24. back in the fall of 76 , I , along with the help of several parents raised $7000.00 to purchase uniforms and a new wrestling mat . We cut firewood, and with the kids help, loaded out the firewood. We had no problem selling every load we could cut over 9/10 weekends - the community knew what we were trying to do and supported our efforts. In this litiguous world we live in today cutting firewood may be too dangerous but it started a wrestling program in 1976,which is still active.
  25. ross your chirping like a little bird - you guys must be good - jt
