  1. i know who this person from ensworth is and there may be some merit to what he is saying. i also know that there were some obstacles to overcome for all parties involved. i am a coach at Brentwood Academy and know that all talks we have had with Quarles have been outstanding and professional. it's not about who is better than who. Maryville should be very proud of their program, because it is first class and you all do things the right way. don't let anyone try and diminish what your boys have accomplished this year, as well as years past. we have a job to do next week, as do you. hopefully we are both state champions, and that is enough.
  2. The mood always changes when someone that knows the facts enters the conversation.
  3. It can effectively be taught to high school kids. the biggest jump that we have had is .7 sec. of course we dont want to give this valuable info to those who may not know, but form, hip explosion, and leg strength are the key(in that order).
  4. thank you. i read that article all the time. not to keep this thing going, but to shed some light on his situation. his act/sat scores were adequate, but with the tough academics at BA his GPA was not high enough. what most people dont know, is that before our senior year, coach flatt tried to get Tito to go to franklin high school so that he could qualify. with his scores, he would had qualified if he had a 2.95 GPA. he refused to go because he loved BA that much. that is the type of man Flatt is. flatt was willing to get rid of the best player he ever had because it was the best thing for Tito. thats why i say that football is not the most important thing at BA. not to bash Franklin but he would have easily had the grades had he not been at BA. i am telling you this to help defend the false sense out there that he couldnt cut it. i wish you the best!!
  5. SRV, there are no hard feelings at all. one of the main things BA instills in its students is forgiveness, and that is what makes that Christian environment so special. i love my school and what it stands for outside of football. i understand that it is hard to see this unless you have experienced it. there will always be shots taking at us because of our success on the field, but it is hard to hear about how football is all we care about. i accept your apology and i understand that coacht is for opinions, but we have to be careful about the effects of our comments about young kids. sometimes what we say, fact or not, will be taken as the truth. yes i did play at UT, and our concern should be directed to why BA, and schools like it, are exponentially harder academically than our state college. God Bless!!
  6. I actually lived in nashville, and my mom sent me to BA as a way to get my life on the right track. i was getting in some trouble when i was younger, and she decided that it was worth her getting two part time jobs to be able to pay my tuition. i was a financial aid student, but she still paid $5,200 of the $6,500. as far as getting "dumb" kids into school, i would not have been challenged at a public school, since i worked hard enough to make great grades at BA and eventually graduate from UT in 3 years. i hope you feel good about bashing my best friend who is no longer with us. he could write well enough to write a terrific english paper about what being at BA meant to him. he touched more lives with his smile than his football talent ever could. God Bless!!
