Huge game Friday afternoon at BA...a total of 9 Real Madrid and Pride club teamates playing in the same game. It should be a great match with a lot of talent on both sides. Both teams have a few good seniors and incredible junior players. Two of the top goalkeepers in the state, I hope this game lives up to the hype.....

I agree with you about the questionable scheduling, they moved the championship up when the 2 teams dropped out. We got there yesterday morning and I was very surprised that the other semi-final game was not playing at the same time on the second field. All things considered, we had 19 goals for and 1 against and got to play our younger jv players for at least half of each game. Our starting keeper made a total of 1 save in 3 games and the 1 goal that we gave up was against a freshman back up. Grace was completely out of gas after a tough game with Tullahoma and I think that they were better than the 6-0 result. Franklin County has a beautiful facility, the trainer and staff were great, but they need to put a little more thought into the scheduling and mechanics of holding a tournament.

Hard game with BA unable to finish on many second half opportunities. BA keeper Stephanie Sermonet had an unbelievable PK save against Lauren Riegle of Harpeth Hall with 6 minutes left in the game to preserve the tie.

Sorry it took me so long to get back but my comment about cost per ranking position was VERY tongue-in-cheek and came from posts earlier in the thread. I apologize if anyone took them seriously!

Early season rankings are iffy at best and I think that we should all appreciate the effort it takes to put something like this together and accept it for what it is. The rankings will get more accurate as the season goes on and people need to be patient and let the girls earn their positions in the polls by playing on the field. Reputations and past accomplishments will mean less and less as the actual scores come in. We all love our teams and no one will ever think that their team is ranked high enough. That is the beautiful thing about high school sports. mjuhb, how much is the fee per rankings spot?

We played several times at camp, you have a good group of girls and I hope that we get the chance to play on Sunday. Good luck this week and maybe we will meet in person in Winchester.

I was talking about the Brentwood Soccer Club, not Brentwood High. I was talking about the difference between club and school soccer. I was not saying that 1 is better than another, although whether we want to admit it or not, most top-level club coaches would prefer that the girls not play school soccer. Flash, aren't you an FRA guy? If you are, check where the best players on your team play their club soccer. My point was that whatever their intentions may be, a rule like this could be devastating to high school sports, especially for girls. I would hate to see that happen.

I was following this thread and it shifted from "number of players on the same club team" to "number of players from the same club". This is obviously a huge difference, does anyone know what the actual wording is? I am a current club and high school coach and have been a club officer as well. It is my opinion that this rule would create an atmosphere like that in St. Louis, where the top-level club players do not play school soccer at all. In Middle Tennessee, the best female players play in Brentwood and TNFC. Our high school team has 9 BWSC girls, 7 from TNFC, and 1 from HFC. The older girls, especially those that play Division 1 club, would drop school soccer in a heartbeat if forced to choose between the 2.

We are hoping to play our best 11 tomorrow night against Harpeth Hall. That would be the first time this year that we had everyone healthy. We were at the Ralph Lundy camp with the Tullahoma girls in July, but I don't know how many they were missing, etc...

Does anyone know anything about the competition in Winchester this weekend? We (Brentwood Academy) are heading down there to play in the tournament and we don't know much about the AAA teams.

The point of my post was not to crown a state champion or to criticize anyone else, it was to point out that the 4 teams that I mentioned are all in the same group as far as state qualifying is concerned. St. Agnes looks like they are the team to beat in 2A statewide, there is no doubt about that, who is their 2A competition in the west? Baylor and GPS are both very good, is there anyone else in 2A in the east? Our region tournament should be exciting, it looks like everyone is pretty even so far.

Ensworth has some really good players but not a lot of depth and they play in a very difficult region. Laura is a great coach, they have great facilities, and they are pushing hard for local talent. I would expect a lot from them in years to come.

Is there anything else even close in the state? 4 of the top 8 in the state, it is going to get crazy come tournament time. BA and BGA are both better than last year, JPII and Ryan are still very strong, Ensworth is going to get better and better, there is a lot of talent concentrated in a very small area. If you add other divisions, BA, BGA, Fr. Ryan, FRA, Brentwood, Franklin, Centennial, and Ravenwood are all within about 5 miles of one another. This is a great time to be a fan of girls' soccer in Middle Tennessee!!!

I know that you will see Brentwood Academy in a couple of weeks. You have Stephanie Sermonet (GK) rated way too low. Ask the opinion of coaches from Baylor, FRA, or JPII. Easily top 10 in TN

They lost to FRA 7-0 this week, and had the same score against BA last week in preseason. They have a little work to do.

Tough, physical game with a lot of club team mates playing against each other. 2 goals in last 12 minutes win it for BA. Big week next week playing 2 state champs, FRA and JPII.
