  1. I think Brentwood Academy also has to be considered. The football & basketball programs are among the best in the state every year (football won it this year, boys basketball 4 in a row, girls basketball are defending champs). They placed 2nd in Cross Country this year, I believe their track team has won 4 state titles in a row. Pretty solid all around.
  2. Wow, everyone seems to think Liberty is going to win this one easily. I think it will be much more of a dog fight then people realize. BA has two division one players inside (Brown, 6'7 & Wright, 6'5). Not to mention a couple of guards that are div. I football prospects--they are more athletic then people might think. It should be a great game!
  3. The #1 ranked school in AA, Liberty (25-3) hosts the top ranked school in Div.II, Brentwood Academy (19-2) on Monday night. Who is going to win? Liberty is absolutely loaded and has yet to lose an official game against another TN school this season (they lost the hall of fame game to Raleigh-Egypt to open the season, but it does not count on their schedule). The last time nobody gave BA a chance (against Whites Creek) they pulled off a huge win in OT. Can they do it at Liberty? I'd love to hear your thoughts/predictions.
  4. Liberty fans have every reason to be confident about their team being maybe the best in the state--except for that loss to Raleigh Egypt to open the season, (which conveniently does not count against their record: "hall of fame game") they are undefeated. They really are stacked too-- athletic and talented. Nobody gave BA a chance against Whites Creek, and no one will give them a chance against Liberty. But we do play the games for a reason. Liberty will have difficulty matching up with BA inside, but will present problems for BA as well. It won't be a walk in the park for Liberty.

  6. Liberty vs. Brentwood Academy in Feb. is going to be a great game.
  7. Graham did not score "at will." He's a stud high school player, but scoring 19 pts is hardly scoring at will. The fact that he hit that shot to send the game into OT probably gives people a more inflated opinion of him on that night. He took plenty of shots. Can he create his own shot just about anytime he wants to? I think so. But that doesn't mean he's unstoppable or can score at will. He's quick enough to get in the paint or create some space for a jump shot very often. But actually FINISHING and nailing those buckets is a whole different story. It's unforunate this comes across as punking Graham b/c there is absolutely nothing negative to say about the kid. People just need to chill on the comments about him being unstoppable against BA. BA's defense was solid, but not excellent that night--they won b/c they pounded the ball inside and shot well over 50%. Whites Creek simply did not get it done on the defensive end. Great game--I'm just happy to see some of the White Creek fans come back to earth.
  8. now that BA has beaten Whites Creek, the top ranking in the midstate either goes to BA or Oakland.
  9. if BA beats Whites Creek on Tuesday night, would they be deserving of #1 ranking in the midstate? I think so, but we'll have to see how the game plays out.
  10. BA wins this one by double digits...they are just too strong. Ensworth has some very promising young players (Jefferson, Miles, Pope), but this is not their year. In the future, the Ensworth-BA rivalry will certainly intensify. Brandon Wright may be gone, but Brian Wright and Brandon Brown are dominant (Lipscomb signees).
  11. BA (13-1) vs Whites Creek (17-1), Tuesday night at 7:30pm! Last season Whites Creek won 66-65 @ BA. It should be another incredible game. Who is going to win this year? What are your predictions?
  12. I think this is a great hire for BA. Potter is an excellent coach, who has proven to be successful in this very competitive division (state championship in 01'). I think that he'll bring in some fresh ideas, make BA much more potent offensively and bring a lot of creativity to the offensive side of the field. I love the fact that he's a former QB (at McCallie & UTC) and grew up a coach's son. I'm anxious to see how he utilizes the talent at BA. The BA staff is still full of "BA people." Potter is very familiar with the BA tradition, a strong Christian himself, and should be a great fit. Congratulations to BA! It'll be interesting to see who McCallie hires.
  13. Here's some more info on Mater Dei... They are led by three seniors: Jacobsen, 7-1, committed to Arizona King, 6-7, committed to Duke Brown, 6-2, committed to Oregon And they also have a pair of 6-10 soph. twin brothers who are studs. Good luck Liberty.
