  1. I'm going to predict a good game!
  2. MVM, see if you can get a group shot of these girls after the game. Sometimes emotions run high after a game but it would be nice if it works out.
  3. Both teams are having a great year but I will go with: Soddy Daisy 1 CCS 0 in a thriller. Dakota Johnson scoring the game winner.
  4. I would not be so quick to question Bearden's talent/ skill level. Notre Dame will have to play their best to be competitive with this Bearden team as we remember last year's butt whipping to the tune of 5-1. I too saw the Baylor / Bearden game and Baylor did an exceptional job of denying the ball to their speedy forwards. Baylor's mid field also kept constant pressure on Beardens's mid field allowing Baylor to mount many effective counter attacks. In the end like all games it will come down to execution and a little luck. I would be very happy if we play like we are capable of and get lucky at the end.
  5. Yes, as usual a very physical game. I saw a lot of ice bags on after the game.
  6. Anytime these two teams get together you know it is going to be a good one and this game was no exception. The last 3 years this matchup has ended up in a tie. On to the game, in the first half ND was certainly getting better of it as they were possessing the ball well and probing the defense of GPS trying to find the net. There were some early scoring opportunities for the Irish but the GPS keeper was up to the task. We go back and forth and ND is probably possessing 70% of the time but are unable to score. GPS gets a ball behind the Irish defense and one of their forwards has a one on one with the Irish keeper and hits the post. She was in very close (inside the 10) and it seemed like a sure goal for the Bruisers but the Irish got lucky on that one. The teams go into half tied 0-0 and this looks like it is will end like the games of year's past. The second half starts and it is much of the same from the first half. Coach Barrueta has put his best player, Josie Rix on the back line to try to limit ND's scoring chances and it was working very well. ND is possessing more but the Bruisers are getting some long balls from Josie creating some scoring opportunities for the Bruisers. Josie also took some balls off the back line and worked her way through the Irish mid field causing some real concern among the Irish faithful. Again more back and forth when Kris Cambron gets a ball in the middle, sent to her by Carey Leiper and she proceeds to weave her way through the defense and puts the ball in the net with 17 minutes to go. I must comment on the keeper from GPS, Simone Busby was nothing short of fantastic in the net for the Briusers. I am told she is a Freshman whose primary sport is basketball. Let me tell you she made more athletic saves than I can count and was one of the main reasons the game was so close. She is certainly just "learning the position" but it didn't appear that way last night; she was superb! Well the game continues and Josie is moved up top to try to create some offense and there were a couple of times she got in close enough to cause some concern amongst the Irish fans. In the end ND hangs on for a hard fought win. A couple of player who I thought had a good game was Danielle Ciabattone who had 2 players on her much of the night, Hope Mongiello created some scoring opportunities, Caitlin Kelley on defense, as well as Kris Cambron who continues to be relentless on the offensive end. It was an exciting game that lived up to its history and I wish the Bruisers well the rest of the year.
  7. FRA 4 Liv Academy 0 While Kat is a very good player, one person can not carry a team vs a quality opponent. I have seen her play and she certainly has the skill to play on anyone's team but she doesn't have the supporting cast that FRA brings to the table. Certainly Coach McDonald will have Kat marked everywhere she goes and I think in the end FRA has too many skill players for Liv Academy to really be able to compete at this level.

  13. As I mentioned on another post this is a very special game to both of these schools not only because they are cross town rivals but 12 of these girls (11 seniors 1 junior) are team mates on their club team, East Ridge Express '91. The team is coached by Matt Yelton and they are reigning Premier League Champions. Because many of these girls have played upwards of 9 seasons together and have gone through the ups and downs of club play, these girls are very good friends and have a true affection for each other. More importantly the parents have all gotten along very well and this makes for a healthy and very respectful rivalry. Unfortunatley for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame the outcome has been decidely one way. I hope this game coming up is as thrilling as last year's game and we can get lucky and come away with a win! Notre Dame girls playing on ERSA '91 Darcy Brannen Kris Cambron Danielle Ciabattone (jr, who will play her jr & sr year with newly formed FC Alliance Black, formerly Nike Lady Impact '92; 3 time state champions). Shannon Kelly Christinia Pagnani played on ERSA '91 Carey Leiper Casey Finnell Baylor girls playing on ERSA '91 Natalie Brackett Taylor Davidson Sarah Gawthrop Cydney Parkes Caroline Scales Tayler Shelby Kemesha Woodfine will join ERSA this coming year Carissa Sanchez played on ERSA '91 Mary Adams Bode Just a footnote: these 16 girls represent approximatley 40% of the teams combined roster, 7 girls ND and 9 girls Baylor based on 20 person roster (just a guess) for each team. And for those of us who our parents of senior girls it is hard to believe that the years pass by so fast and that for many of us we are closing in on the final few months of our girls soccer careers. Good luck to all the girls this year especially those who are finishing up their careers.
  14. Oak Ridge 3 Hardin Valley Academy 0
  15. MVM, I guess you could call them "spies" but they're Baylor parents who we play club ball with. On our club team East Ridge Express '91; we have 7 Baylor players and 5 ND players (and 2 Soddy players) so that makes next Tuesday a big game for both of us besides the fact that we are cross town rivals. Soddy is rocking along this year. I hope the wins keep coming and you guys make a run at state. Best of luck!
