  1. Chattanooga Area Rankings Week 2 1 Baylor 4-0, dominating wins over Bearden and BGA. Far and away the class of the area right now.Travels to Memphis for Rivals tourney. 2. Soddy Daisy 2-1, big 2-1 win over Notre Dame. Soddy defense smothered the Irish offense. 3. Notre Dame 3-1, loss to Soddy Daisy, will travel to Memphis for Rivals Tourney this weekend. 4. CCS 3-0-1, convincing wins vs Anderson County and Ooltewah and tie vs FRA in CCS tourney. Tie vs FRA indicates that CCS just finds ways to compete. 5. GPS 2-1-1, lost to Harpeth Hall 3-0 6. Cleveland 4-2-1, loss to Shelbyville, beat Signal Mtn and David Lipscomb. Big game vs Soddy Daisy this week. 7. Ooltewah 1-1-1, tied Cumberland County, beat Tullahoma and lost to CCS. It make take some time for things to sort out with lots of new players. 8. Boyd Buchanon 2-2, beat Hixson and East Ridge, lost to David Lipscomb. 9. Hixson 3-1 lost to Boyd 10. CSAS 3-0, beat Chattanooga Patriots Note: lots of incomplete scores/schedules. Updated records/scores welcome.
  2. Soody Daisy 2 Notre Dame 1 Soddy's defense was very stout tonight limiting ND's scoring opportunities. Claire Lanter led the Trojans's defense and also scored on a free kick.
  3. Some people are smarter than others and know when not to predict scores. And then there is DonC and me, munching on some crow.
  4. I least I got half the score right; Baylor 3 Bearden 0 This game was totally dominated by Baylor! In a game where many (including yours truly) thought this would be a back and forth game it was decidely one way. The game was controlled by Baylor's mid fielders and the defensive back line. Caroline Scales and McKenzie Thomas did a superb job of passing ball to feet (as all the Baylor players did) and looking for opportunies to work the ball inside. At the 27 minute mark in the first half McKenzie found a loose ball in the middle of the field and proceeded to bury the ball in the back of the net. Throughout the game Baylor must have controlled the ball anywhere from 70- 80% of the time. The forwards from Bearden attempted to make some runs but Baylor's outside backs of Tayler Shelby and Natalie Brackett did a tremendous job of denying the ball to the Beardens strikers. Even though Bearden was down just 1-0 at half there was never a real scoring threat that made it look like Bearden could swing the momentum their way. Bearden comes out at half and everyone is anticipating Coach Turner's half time adjustment where he throws in some extra forwards to try to jump start the offense. At the 38 minute mark of the 2nd half Kemesha Woodfine gets loose and she gets a clear look at the goal and then drills a ball in the back of the net. At this point everyone kinds of looks at each other and goes "whoa." A mere 5 minutes later at the 33 minute mark Kemesha takes a ball down the left side line and launches a perfect ball to Tina Groves who immediatley puts the ball in in the back of the net. Bearden tried to muster some offense but again the mid fielders and the back line of Baylor were playing ball to feet all night and limited the touches of the Bearden players. Baylor had more opportunities to score but in the end they were happy sitting on a lead and playing keep away from the Bearden team. I have seen Baylor play 3 times this year and while they played well they had not played as well as I saw them play tonight. If there was one word to describe tonight's game, it would be "dominating." If they keep this up they will be extremely tough to beat by anyone. I wish success for the girls the rest of the year (except Sept 23) and hope they win the coveted state title in November. Good luck and stay healthy.
  5. Signal Mtn 3 Grace 0 Congratulations to Signal Mtn for their first win!
  6. Can anyone post a link for the tournament? I have tried to google search for info but to no avail. I have heard that at least one of the teams have dropped out and this has altered the original schedule. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks
  7. I like the way you think but we have not even scored on Baylor the last 4 years. We meet them September 23 at their place to see if we can claim that top spot. But we have to worry first about Soddy Daisy who we play this week at their place. They are a tough team who knows how to defend. MVM you wouldn't be trying to lull us into a false sense of invicibilty, would you?
  8. In what could be described as the early "game of the year", these two tradtional powerhouse will face off this coming week. It will match Bearden's explosive offense led by Sam Turner and Amy Porter vs Baylor's typically conservative play (to try to feel out their opponent). Baylor is very good on counter attacks and will look to take advantage of Bearden's aggressive play. Caroline Scales (center-mid) has been scoring and dishing assists so I think this will be a relatively high scoring game. Coach Turner is a master of half time adjustments but Jimmy Weekely is known for throwing in a wrinkle or two himself. This should be a classic match up. I hope it lives up to the hype. My prediction in a thriller is; Bearden 4 Baylor 3
  9. CHAMPDDS and NDSean, it was nice meeting both both of you this weekend at the Baylor tourney. I hope you both continue to come to the games as we can use the all the fan support that we can get. CHAMPDDS thanks again for the CoachT tee shirt! It was also good to Bear Cat Brown prowling the sidelines. I hope to see and your youngin's at a lot of games this year.
  10. copied post from pre season rankings: Chattanooga area pre season rankings 1. Baylor- Still the team to beat in the Chattanooga area. Loaded with a top notch senior class including all state selections Caroline Scales and Sarah Gawthrop. This team is on a mission and I think they get it done this year as they are looking for a state championship in the tough Div II group. 2. Notre Dame- Much like Baylor they are loaded with a very talented group of juniors and seniors. All state selections from last year's team; Shannon Kelly, Danielle Ciabattone, and Kris Cambron will lead the Irish on their quest for a state championship. They should be in the mix at the end for A/AA title. Like all teams they need to stay healthy. 3. GPS- Showed vast improvement from the beginning of last year's team to finish the season strong. Seniors Allie Conn and Josie Rix will look to lead the Bruisers this year. Heather Daniel and some other talented younger players are working hard to get them back in the Div II mix. 4. Soddy Daisy- Rumor has it the Trojans have a nice freshman class coming in. They will need to mature quickly to play with some of the AAA powerhouses. All state selection Claire Lanter with lead the defense and Kelsey Swann will need to score some goals to keep the Trojans competitive. 5. Cleveland- Had best year ever last year led by Emily Jones (Times Free Press player of the year) and Christina Bahn. With Bahn gone to graduation, Emily will have to have some help as she will be marked everywhere she goes. 6. CCS (Chattanooga Christian) Lost a lot of key players from last year's team. All state selection Logan Mays will try to lead the offense and all-stater Leah Wilson (keeper) will anchor a defense that will need some re-building. Will have to groom some younger players to help them down the stretch. 7.Ooltewah- The Owls lost 10 seniors from last year's team so the team may take a while to get in the groove. Hannah Squires and Lisa Swearingen are a couple of talented sophs who'll try to pick up where last year's team left off. 8. Hixson- All state selection Rebecca Kent will lead the Wildcats this year in hopes of making some noise in the A/AA mix. Always has a game or two that scare ND and or CCS in district/regional play. 9. McMinn County- Do not know much about the Cherokees but they have produced competitive teams of late. 10. Grace- Coach McPherson did wonders with last year's team but the transfer of Nicole McKinney (sophomore) to GPS and their keeper graduating hurts Grace's chances to repeat as last year's surprise team. Disclaimer: It is very difficult to know what is going on in the outlying areas (loss to graduation, incoming freshman, injuries, etc) I am sure some of these teams will make themselves known as the season progresses. Chattanooga area rankings week 1 1. Baylor 2-0, with wins over Ensworth and Hutchison. Caroline Scales has decided to become an offensive threat this year. Typically she is happy dishing assists to Kemesha Woodfine and company. With Caroline becoming more involved with scoring this sends a message that Baylor should be scoring a lot more goals this year. Bearden at Baylor Sept 3, 7pm is a must see game. 2. Notre Dame 3-0, wins over Hutchison, Pope John Paul and Ensworth. Kris Cambron scored 6 goals this weekend and Danielle Ciabattone had 1 goal along with 4 assisits to lead the Irish offensively. This is a very good start for the Irish as they they have been slow in recent years to get their offense in synch early. ND at Soddy Daisy Thursday Sept 4, at 7pm. This will be a tough test for the Irish. 3.GPS 1-0-1, win vs Hutchison, tie vs Pope John Paul, Josie Rix and Heather Daniel provide some scoring. The Bruisers tend to get stronger as the year progresses. Note: it would be nice to have schedule/results posted on Eurosportscoreboard.com 4. Soddy Daisy 0-1-0, Lost hard fought game to Riverdale 1-0. Soddy is playing a very tough schedule and it will pay dividends down the road. Will host ND Sept 4. 5. CCS 1-0, beat Signal Mtn 4-1. It is tough to get a read on the Signal Mtn game as this was their first game. But you can rest assured that CCS will be in the mix at the end. Plays Cleveland Sept 5 6. Clevland 2-1-1, wins vs Bradley Central and Briarcrest loss to ECS and tied Colliervillle. Emily Jones leads the Cleveland team offensively. Plays CCS Sept 5 7. Ooltewah 0-0, waiting to get the season going. Plays Cumberland County Sept 2. 8. Hixson 1-0, win vs Lincoln County. Plays East Ridge Sept 2. 9. CSAS 1-0, beat Grace and will look to win a bunch more before the season is over. 10. McMinn County 0-3, lost to CAK, Farragut and Knox Catholic in Bearden tourney. The Cherokees certainly took on 3 tough teams right out of the gate. The test will be whether these 3 losses will make them better or whether they have lost their confidence. The next couple of games should set the tone for the remainder of the season. Note: not a lot of changes as it is hard to factor in "good wins" vs "good losses". As the season progresses the overall picture will become clearer. All in all a good week for the Chattanooga area teams.
  11. The Chattanooga teams went 6-0-1. Nice job ladies!
  12. Do you know what he did to get sent off?
  13. G, that is a very fair assessment of the game.
  14. Baylor Tourney Baylor 6 Hutchison 1 Caroline Scales gets hat trick for Baylor Notre Dame 5 Ensworth 4 Ensworth score 3 goals in the last 15 minutes after being down 5-1. There was certainly no quit in the Ensworth team. 3 game scoring summary for the Lady Irish of ND (unofficial) Kris Cambron 6 goals (hat trick in last game) Danielle Ciabattone 1 goal 4 assists Darcy Brannen 1 goal 1 assist Carey Leiper 1 goal Kathryn Healy 1 goal Gaby Garrola 1 assist It was brutaly hot out there today as the center ref went down with heat exhaustion.
  15. From Baylor tourney Notre Dame 2 Pope John Paul 1 Baylor 2 Ensworth 1
  16. Ditto on the Congrats! I have heard that Signal Mtn has very few players on their team this year. Does anyone know how many girls they have on their roster? Girls, good luck the rest of the way.
  17. G, I am surprised you weren't at the game.
  18. Final, Bearden 3 CAK 1 Heard it was a very good game.
