  1. Sounds like SS was better than Greeneville.
  2. I don't want to be disrespectful to Fulton; they did beat SS. But SS lost the one player that was stopping Rollins. Their starting RB/Corner was lost early in the 3rd Q. Fulton did not capitorlize on that loss until late in the 4th Q. Tonight is a totally different game now.
  3. Great breakdown RedRaider85. Puts it into perspective. I really hate to hear that Fulton has potentially lost Rollins. It is never good to get this type of news. He is SEC material for sure. I was tremendously impressed. Good luck to the Soph. stepping up. What a storried time to get his bread. But, without Rollins, SS would have had no problem winning the game. Rollins was that good and made that big of a difference. Without him, Fulton will limp. As i said before umpteen posts ago, Rollins is a tad faster than Willie. And Greeneville fans DO remember Willie.
  4. Seems to me that both teams will come out throwing the ball. I guess we will see. I originally thought that Greeneville would run the ball to run clock...but I have changed my mind.
  5. OK, I leave the classroom for a little break and the paper wads and spit-balls start again. Alright...let's talk about Greenevilles RB's. How many (premier) backs do you have and are they as good as B.J. Spradlin or maybe Jeremy Barner. Barner was not premier but was slippery.
  6. OK, let's hear some breakdown of Greeneville's QB. Is he dual-threat or strictly drop-back. Is he a gunslinger like '08 or a speed freak like '10?
  7. I'd like to hear more about Greeneville's corners. Are they track guys?
  8. Pretty impressive story about Mr. Wright. great to hear for the young man.
  9. I will definately pay attention to #2 for Greeneville now.
  10. You people are weak. Where is Cap1 when you need him. Everybodies' drawers are in a wad now. All you can talk about is chest pounding. No one is giving any meat and potatoes...except very few. I think Greeneville will win because the whole team is talented. BUT, if Greenville stops Fulton's TB it will be an enourmous feat. He is NFL materiel...PERIOD. If Niswongerville has somebody as fast as this guy then I can't wait to see it. Meanwhile, Fulton has many weaknesses and SS exposed them. But Speed kills. So can't you people find anything to post but...We Bad? You're both good or you wouldn't be here. And in all pracitcality, this is the Gold Ball. I just feel fortunate that my Rebels got to play one of you. Make it interesting and give some inteligent thought to converse with. Otherwise, I'll keep throwing out innuedos. By the way...in case you didn't get it...I'm a Democrat.
  11. If you Fulton people are Republican then you might need to just stay home...and if not, you might want to call Uncle O and ask him, "What's the odds?"
  12. Spies at games are expected...spies at practice are a bit different. I'm sure Fulton would not go there? Or would they?
  13. If I were a Greenville dad I would make sure my boy had some 1 inch screw in cleats. You will need the extra dig. That field is soft. Yeah, yeah...I know...3/4's is the legal limit, but 3/4's won't cut it if it gets wet. That field has a downhill slope to it and when you cut wide open you will need teeth. Maybe ditch the girdle too.
  14. Greeneville, the single most important position in this game is your corners. You must have speed there or it will be a long night. South had speed on the corners. Their best corner was lost in the second half beginning kickoff. That was their ultimate downfall. South corners are very fast and the one we lost was also our starting tailback. Fulton's middle kickoff recievers consistantly fumbled the ball which guaranteed short or no return yardage. I would say that arrangement will be modified this week with speed up in the middle to take advantage of that potential stratigy. If you put it in the endzone each time then that solves the problem. The rest of the game will manage itself but the corners and special teams are the game changers. Fulton, your O line was weak. South was in your backfield all evening. Everyone knows you will run it wide. I will be surprised if Greenevielle can manage your fast TB. Your defensive front was one of the best I have seen. You put major pressure on Souths' passing game. However, South did have alot of success running up the middle...but at a heavy price. If Greeneville has only one premier RB then he will take a beating from you. Fulton's secondary was weak. If Greenville can find the time to throw the ball it will be a trump card. I don't think the Greeneville corners have the speed that South had at the corners. But I don't think the Greeneville D will allow anything in the middle. So in my mind Fulton will rely on their speedy TB. And Greeneville will control the clock. Special teams will decide this game.
  15. The statistics can be found to support the preferred use of either surface...grass, or turf. Greeneville, of course, has turf. But must play on both surfaces during the course of a season. IMO, it is most likely not a good thing to play on both surfaces regularly. My son said he did not like turf but that it was faster but more painful as well. At the college level grass is (in D1) not the norm. Division II is probably 50/50 grass/turf. Just wondered what everyones preference is.
  16. I noticed the Fulton field was an overly exaggerated convex shape. I have never seen a field with such a difference in elevation between the centerline and the sidelines. Did the field have drainage issues at some point in the past and therefore was re-sculpted to eliminate this issue? Or, has it always been this way? The slope from centerline to sideline was much more pronounced than any other field I have seen. Just curious.
  17. Fulton's kicker consistently put the ball on the 10. Whether that was intential or an indication of his ability was not clear. However, the Rebels' picked the ball up at the same spot each kickoff. A dangerous place to let it bounce toward the endzone in hopes of a touchback. South never got past the 20. Fulton's bread and butter (against South) was the wide sweep. South lost thier first team CB at the beginning of the 3rd. Up to that point it was hit and miss for the sweep for Fulton. Late in the fourth they realized South's replacement was not as fast and began to exploit it. South was in Fulton's backfield all evening forcing alternative decisions. As well, Fulton put major pressure on South's passing game by way of their rush. The game changer was Fulton's sweep by their tailback once South lost their corner. This success for Fulton came late in the fourth.
  18. The only reason I will post is because of the relevancy to the game. Fulton has a lockdown defensive front. The best I have seen. They are D1. Fultons' Tailback...the fastest I have seen at the highschool level...ever. He is D1. DB's were either weak or South wideouts are blazing fast...maybe a little of both. Fultons' O line is not D1. Fultons' return group are dangerous. Those are the superlatives I saw. Greeneville...when I saw them, had a complete team. No real superlatives but just all around strength. Especially the O and D line. The 'Devil corners will have their hands full all night. If they do not stop the Fulton RB before he crosses scrimmage then it will be a long evening. Fulton is not as good as was purported. But, if they get the upper hand they will most likely keep it. I did not feel South could play with them. I was wrong. South made a crucial mistake this season. They let their RB play on kickoff returns. You must protect your assets. South mistake. In summary...if Greenville wideouts are as fast as South's then throw the ball. They are not...so don't. Ball control will be the name of the game. Greeneville must have more than one good RB...because he will get blistered. Otherwise...IMO...this game hinges on two things. Fulton's ability to get their RB in open spaces. Greenevilles ability to shadow him. I take Greeneville in this one. Rebel Nation
  19. Incredible...so now we gottta' play best 2 out of 3 in the AstroDome. Got to have those good field conditions...
  20. Photoman, you may chastise me if you like. In my post I awarded you kudos for what you do very well...and that is football. Make no mistake, I am a die hard fan of the game and an advocate of the high school program as it is administered in this state. Your program is obviously top shelf in Tennessee. If I had a child of correct age and lived in the Knoxville area I would seriously consider sending him there. However, I did some reading. Your test scores are the worst in Knoxville...and very low on the national average. If I were looking for a traditionally successful football program in Knox County and academics were not the number one deciding factor then Fulton would be a top contender. Provided I had a son who had the ability to play in your system. My suggestion to you is...you have the athletes, the program, the tradition...now go build the academics and you will have a storied program. Otherwise you're a great athletic school with no academics. South is a historically high ranking accademic school that just so happens to have a decent football program. They don't recruit, or offer any benefits to any outside desirable player in order to coerce them into attending South. We take our homeboys and do the best we can with them. Our coach was a former Mr. Football so we do have a little pride. I hope we can hang with you long enough to give you some competition.
  21. Fultons' 1st team is 6A, their 2nd team is 5A, their 3rd team is 4A, their 4th team is 3A and their Frosh are 2A...and champs in all catagories. So there. You want your kid to play pro ball...send him to Fulton. That is...if he makes the team. South is a highly successful academic school with the test scores and alumni business leaders to prove it. But no gold ball. Fulton is in North Knoxville. So we got the South side against the North side. Seems fitting for Southers.
  22. FHSalumn12 Kudos on the grass. Turff burns blow. Nothing on youtube that would be current. My boy played a few years ago so I have nothing of late. I'll ask around but this coach and group is very private in that regard.
