  1. Here are my picks: My Mactown boys Eagleville MTCS Forrest Clarksville Academy: Because these guys will not go this season without a win. They are too good.
  2. Great job Warriors!!!! I am so proud of our guys tonight. At the beginning of the season, it seemed there were a handful of players on the field making most of the plays. Not any more. It seems like over the last two games, every player on the field has decided to really get in there and make some plays. Good job. I have to say that I see what others have said about CA being one of the best teams around but without the record to show for it. Their kicker is AWESOME! Unbelievable. Our guys really put the running game to them tonight. I was on the sidelines and I know that in the 4th quarter, two of our guys absolutely laid the guy running the ball OUT. When he tried to get up, he almost fell over again. I truly would not be surprised if he had a concussion. I could not believe he did not come off the field. I did not expect him to stay in, but he did. They played a tough game. I am so proud of our guys. GO BIG RED!!!!
  3. If I am not mistaken, I believe it is 31-32 years....Somewhere in that neighborhood.
  4. Here is a link to some really cool pictures taken by Tommy Rouse this last Friday night at the McEwen vs. WHH game. I thought others out there might want to take a look. http://www.tr-photography.photoreflect.com
  5. LOL!!! Thank you. I needed that post. Let's see how long it takes for a reply. Some people on here are very touchy. What is the deal?
  6. Great job Warriors!!!! I am so proud of our guys. You all really played as a team last night. AWESOME!! Do we still need to work on a lot of things? Yes. Will we continue to improve? Absolutely. I was so proud of our DEFENSE last night. And the running game looked great. The guy who said we have no speed has obviously never watched ET run. We had several who picked up yards last night. I told my son all week that they would have to come out quick and make a statement to WHH. Boy did we ever!!!!! SUPER DEFENSE!!! I was also proud to see some new guys stepping up and making some plays. GREAT JOB!!! As for the bashing, I really don't take part in that kind of thing. I will just say that I know a lot of teams underestimate us because we are from such a small town, and that is your mistake. A lot of our guys never step off the field the entire game. They play for 2 - 2 1/2 hours of hard hitting, in-your-face, football. You show me one team in our entire region who could do what our guys do. I don't think you will find one. They are absolutely exhausted by the end of the game, but they don't let up for a minute. We have no quitters on the MACTOWN team. Our opponents should remember that when they meet us on the field. GO BIG RED!!!!!
  7. MACTOWN WINS!!! Our guys will be ready to play and play hard. GO BIG RED!!
  8. We are gonna do our best, but be careful about how you talk on here, you may upset C11 and he will start shouting in big bright orange letters again. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. I honestly meant no disrespect whatsoever. I was very surprised by your post. I am just very excited about this game. Sorry you took it that way.
  10. You are in for a treat if Friday night is any indication. I will be there too. Wouldn't miss it for the world. Our guys hit the field this morning at 8:00 a.m. They know they are in for one heck of a game Friday night. I saw some pretty hard hits last Friday night against a team that was not a region or district game. I think some of the other teams players wish they had never gotten back up after a few hits. You can bet this weeks game will be the same and (I would be willing to bet) a little more intense. Make sure you have all your pads on guys. Mactown boys are coming to play! GO BIG RED!!
  11. Mactown, Forrest, Nashville Christian, Jo Byrns & Eagleville win this week.
  12. That would be my son. I am a proud mom. He is a Senior this year and we are hoping this will be his best one yet.
  13. I posted several weeks ago that I wasn't going to make a lot of big predictions but that we were here to play. Friday night proved that. Of course we still have a lot to work on, but I thought that we looked really good for the first game of the season. We have always been small in numbers, but we have an awful lot of heart. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> GO BIG RED!!!!!!
  14. Thanks for starting this. I pray for the safety of the McEwen Warriors this season both on and off the field. Also prayers for all the teams we face on the field this season.
  15. There really are no words to express my thoughts only to say that we are praying for you and your family here in McEwen.
  16. I am not sure who asked, but McEwen does not play Week Zero. It is our bye week. We start our season on the 29th against Houston Co. at home. We did not have a Jamboree game this weekend. We actually schrimmaged East Hickman on the 14th which was last Thursday night. I must say we looked pretty good. I think the score was 14 or 21 to 0 with our main string in to play. We had some really good runs and our punting looked really good. I am so excited about this season. We don't have as many players as last year, but the ones we do have are looking pretty good in my book. I think the coaches are pleased with what they have seen so far. Just a note to all of you guys, look out for the Mactown boys. As always, they will play down to the wire. GO BIG RED!!!! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  17. McEwen beat Columbia Academy (main string) 14-0. If I remember correctly, they had a chance to score twice in the red zone and we held them all 4 downs. Does that sound familiar to any of you guys out there? (Sorry, I just had to throw that in). Anyway, just as I was leaving the JV team was in and CA did score. I thought our guys looked really good for the first schrimmage. We play Dover this Friday. I'm sure our guys will look even better. I can't wait to get all this out of the way so we can get to the good stuff. GO BIG RED!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  18. You are talking awfully BIG for the season to have not even started. Like I said, we like being the underdogs. Just keep on talking....it's rather entertaining. By the way, I didn't think coaches liked for their players to be on these boards. I know our coaches like for our guys to stay off of the computer and do their talking on the field. Just wondering. Also, McEwen plays Columbia Academy at 6:00 this Friday night. I am so glad we are not playing at 3:00 this year. Too HOT!!!!!
  19. I have to say that I am glad you all will be making the trip to our place this year. I am getting pretty excited about this season. My son is a senior this year and is literally counting the days until the season kicks off. I think we are going to surprise some people this year. We had some really good match ups last season. Let's not forget the 3 ( I believe I am right on this number) over time games and a pretty decent showing against Mr. Pleasant for the playoffs. We should have played better at times and that is what excites me. I know we have a better team than we showed in the games that we lost last season. I love to see some hard hitting ( and I do mean HARD HITTING) football. Last season was just the beginning. This is the last hooraaaa for several guys on our team that really want to make a good showing and do our little town proud. I am glad that not many think we will be a contender for our region. We LOVE being the underdogs. Just remember, DO NOT OVERLOOK BIG RED! We will make you sorry you did. Our goal is to earn the respect I believe we deserve. Good luck to everybody this season. And by the way, we girls like these boards too. We just don't seem to have the luxury of time that you guys do. Ha! I think your wives would agree. You know the old saying, "From the rising to the setting of the sun, a woman's work is never done." /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. Just for the record, 6 of the quys who were on the field the night we played Cascade, were not on the field last night. However, the ones who were out there gave it everything they had till the final buzzer. With us having played both Mr. Pleasant and Cascade, I predict the winner of next week's game will be the one that truly, TRULY shows up to play ball and nothing less. I was impressed with Marco D., but not with the team as a whole. To be very honest, we had chances to win the game but just could not get it together. We had one TD called back and were in the red zone at least a couple of other times that we could not capitalize on for some reason. The score could have been in our favor, but we just could not make it happen. Yes, Marco ran all over us, but honestly the score did not reflect it as far as I am concerned. We held them several points below their season average. For that I have to give our defense a little credit. Simply put, he is an awesome player. The kid is truly gifted. I have to give him credit. I have to laugh when people get on here and predict that this team or that will "WIN THIS ONE BIG". It is not going to happen with this game. I think both teams realize what is at stake and will show up to play. That being said, the crowd will be in for a treat. If both teams leave it all on the field, it should be a show down till the final buzzer. Good luck to both teams. Just a note, Mactown boys may be finished for this season, but I think our guys proved to everyone that we meant business with every game we played this year. Our boys will be working hard in the off season, and I must warn you ahead of time, "WE WILL BE BACK!" GO BIG RED!!!!
  21. I just wanted to take a second and say "Thanks" for acknowledging our guys. You are right about having some guys out last night. If I counted correctly, we had six players out that started the first of the season. When you have 9 on the field and you are missing 6 of the original team.... well, you do the math. You are also right about leaving it all on the field. I told my son after the game that he had nothing to be ashamed of. He, along with the others played until the final buzzer sounded. In all honesty, we had a few chances to change the course of the game and just could not make it happen. The outcome could just as easily have been turned in our favor. However, I am not taking anything away from your team. Let's just face it, Marco is unbelievable. I am happy he was able to set a school record before his season ended, but I really wish it had not been against Mactown. He could have waited until next week or the next. Speaking of next week, we have played you guys and we have played Cascade. From what I have seen from both teams, the winner will be the one who truly shows up to play. I think you are both pretty evenly matched as far as talent. But then again, they don't have anyone (IMO) who could ever match up to MD. It will be an interesting game for sure. I wish both teams the best of luck. To my Mactown boys....I love you. I told one of the coaches last night, I am already looking forward to next season. We went farther this year than anyone ever thought we would. You gave us some thrilling moments, made my heart stop a few times, and just simply played your hearts out. I told my son early in the season that while I wanted them to win games and do really well, what I wanted to see most from our guys this year was for them to improve and never, never , never, never quit. Even when Jo Byrns was kicking our butts, our boys did not quit until the game was over. I would have been very disappointed in him and the rest of the team if they had given up. They didn't, and in my book, that is what it is all about. I love you guys!! Take some time to heal and then get back to work for next season. I think we are going to have a really strong team next year. I can't wait. WARRIOR TILL THE DAY I DIE!!!!
  22. I don't think Ralph is much of a football player anyway. Ha! Seriously, our guys are used to being the underdog. We have kind of grown to like it that way. Your guys should expect no less than the very best that our guys have to offer on Friday night. We have had quite an interesting season. One would get hurt and another would step up. We have been down on the scoreboard and come from behind in the 4th to win the game. We went down to the wire when we played Cascade. We have won two games in overtime and down to the wire again with Nashville Christian. There is one thing you can say about our guys is that WE DO NOT QUIT!!!!!! Ask any team that we have played. Our guys are going to knock you for a loop and let you know they are here to play even if they are down 10 or 20 points. There is one thing that we are big on in Mactown and that is PRIDE!!!!! No, we do not have a championship ring to prove it, but that is not required when it comes to playing with pride. So, I hope that you underestimate us MP. We'll see you Friday night under the lights. The WARRIORS are coming! GO BIG RED!!!!
  23. Amen and Amen again. If we don't have the utmost faith in our team, and show up to give them our support, then who do they have? As for the posts by someone who supposedly is a Warrior, if this is the best you have to give our guys, then (speaking as a parent) please do not get on here and give any predictions. The only thing that I will agree on is the fact that there are times when I wish our crowd and our student body would cheer and support our guys on the field a little more than they do. I realize that it just isn't the thing for some people. As for me, I can't sit still. I probably even embarrass my own husband and mother at times, but I just can't help it. I started thinking about this game last Saturday morning and more every day since then. You ask the question, "Can our guys win this game?" With everything that is in me, I say,"YES!" Will it be easy? "Absolutely not." I told my son that if they show up to really play ball, and I mean REALLY PLAY BALL, then they have just as much a chance at this game as Jo Byrns. I would never tell him any different. They are smart players. They have seen the stats. They have played this game long enough now to know that when they walk out on that field, they have to play with the guts and determination and heart that they showed us at the Forrest game and the Eagleville game. I have never seen such a game as I saw when we played Forrest. It brought tears to my eyes and most every McEwen player and coaches that night. It was really very moving. I hope that there are more McEwen people on here who are reading and just not posting. I hope that you all will show up to prove our doubters wrong. As for the posters who claim to be McEwen fans, but aren't proving it by your posts, if you really don't think we can win this game, don't bother to make the drive. The price of gas is too high. GO WARRIORS!!
  24. Too close.....and this makes 3 weeks in a row that it has come down to the wire. I truly do not want to slight any of our guys because so many (almost a whole new group of guys) are answering the call and stepping up to make big plays every game, but I really have to make mention of the awesome awesome game that Eric Beard and Casey Sliman had tonight. These guys played their last game tonight at Warrior stadium and they went out with a bang. Guys you led your team tonight and we are all so proud of you. You picked up your team and led us to another win and a trip to the playoffs. You did not do it alone, but you showed the leadership that it took to get the job done. It has been a joy to watch you play week after week. Way to end your last game on the home field. But by no means are we done!!! Right?!! I want to see the same intensity from all of you guys next week and the next...because the McEwen Warriors are going to the playoffs! It is time to really show us what you are made of... a lot of pride, guts, determination, and huge hearts. I am so proud of you all. I LOVE BEING A WARRIOR!!!!!
