Former Karns HS star Tharpe, who was the co-Knoxville Interscholastic League Player of the Year at Karns High School in 2000, compiled a two-year record of 5-15 with a 5.35 ERA and one save. As the No. 1 starter for the Bulldogs this past season, the 5-11, 190-pound left-hander was 4-7 in 14 starts while leading the team in strikeouts with 66 in 76.1 innings.
