catholic should have another strong program. some younger players are very capable of stepping up.

 

I agree. To me, the Catholic season really took off after the seniors left the team during their Spring Break and a bunch of freshmen and sophmores had to step up to play the Bearden Invitational. Going 3-1 against the likes of Hendersonville, Morristown West, Baylor and Bearden helped the young guys mature and, once they came back, it helped the seniors understand that they needed to step it up because the underclassmen had represented themselves very well. Fortunately, a lot of those younger players saw a lot of playing time as the season went on, including during the post season tournaments.

Collierville is loosing the coach everyone liked and keeping the one like Houston had in the past. Houston will go to state next year - not sure how far they will go because who knows, but Collierville is going to be shooting blanks. The local club for the boys is having a High Schools team next year that will be 91, 92, 93, 94 - Not even a d3 team so there is not much for Collierville to hope to get. Coach might even affect the girls team too.

 

 

 

A CHS Coaching change is yet to be confirmed or official. That will be an interesting caveat if it comes to fruition.

 

As for the local club team supplying players, that has never been a real issue. While many of the Collierville HS (and Houston HS, BTW) players started in the Collierville Lobos program, most move on to the top Memphis Teams (Memphis FC, Germantown Fury) when or before they reach HS age anyway. The LOBOS lost their 90 and 92 teams several years back, and have pieced together a splintered combo-ed 91 team this year. Their role in player development has been more important to the CHS Girls soccer program than the boys side for years.

 

Collierville returns a core of juniors playing club together at Midsouth FC (formerly Memphis FC and GSC Fury). They will stay busy this fall in Showcase tournaments, state league, men's league play and in training and conditioning sessions until HS roster time. They will be ready for the HS season come spring.

 

Houston loses Lightfoot, Ondra, Haba just to name a few of their guns. Defense won't be their problem, especially with Powell in net. Finding offense will be the key to their success or lack thereof.
