Congrats to the Pearl-Cohn Baseball team in getting their first win in over half a decade! Even better that it came against rival Maplewood yesterday! I has been a long season for the Firebirds but I will say that Coach Kaffer has done an excellent job in getting the boys to learn and play THE GAME. The team was turning DP's and playing good defense and did not give up! I hope that they take this same attitude into the next game win or loose! I AM PROUD OF YOU GUYS!!!

I second the congrats....P-C was not a very good ballclub this year, but I loved the effort and attitude that I saw on the field and in the dugout in the two games that I saw. I was also impressed by the coach. Very level headed and patient. It was apparent that most of the players did not grow up playing the game at a high competition level, if they played at all before HS, so it appeared that his mission is to teach and mentor them so that they would have a love and appreciation for the game. As far as attitude is concerned, these kids could teach a thing or two to some of the teams that will go deep into the tournament. After our game with PC this year, my wife was walking through the parking lot with her arms loaded with chairs, cooloer etc. Two of the PC boys walked up and asked to help her carry all of her stuff and were extremely polite. She cut up with them for a second or two, and wishes that she could write their parents to let them know what polite and courteous young men they were. Good luck to them next year, and hope they get several wins.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
