  1. Boski.....congratulations. Maplewood is a really good football team, and perhaps their greatest strength is that they excel in all phases of the game. Dorris really has them playing solid defense. Time for us at DL to turn our focus to basketball, but for the first time in my 15 years of watching DL football, I think I will go to a friday night game after the Mustangs have been put out of the playoffs. I don't have any maroon to wear, so I will wear my purple hat, but will be cheering for our District 10 cousins to win it all.
  2. Don't think the baby powder thing will ever happen again. The kids got lectured pretty good by the administration because it delayed the game so the floor could be swept up.....but the white out was hilarious. I've seen some pictures and they are great. Like a big white cloud enveloped half the gym.
  3. There is a section of the paved parking that is reserved for DL families that paid extra for the reserved seating. this is the roped off area to your immediate left, after entering the parking lot. The rest of the paved lot is first come, first served.....DL or Visitors. Quite a few of the DL faithful (mostly students)will park in the grassy area behind the visitor bleachers and tailgate prior to the game. I've made the drive to MC many a time during basketball seasons past.....hope all of the MC families have a safe trip friday. Nothing better than playoff football.
  4. wow....Last place? Really? I know that DL lost 4 senior starters, but when was the last time you saw DL finish last in their district?
  5. hahaha..... I love this, it is so true. Actually, delete one word, and it applies to most schools in middle Tennessee. Twin, if it would be alright, i may use this quote on another school's thread somewhere down the line.
  6. At Overton yesterday, the Spring Hill/Whites Creek game was a really good game. Glencliff/Lipscomb was not a good game. Greenbrier/Harpeth was better than I expected, but ended like I anticipated. Overton was not really challenged in either game they played. Kind of thought that Spring Hill would give them a better game than they did. Did not see the Giles Co game against the Arkansas team, but I believe that Giles lost.
  7. Granted, rhe conditions were less than ideal.....but on the other hand, finally we play some footbball in weather that felt like football weather: fleece, rain jacket, everybody sitting tight up against your neighbor, thermos of hot chocolate by my feet. Our schools have been quintessential high school rivals in basketball for years, so it was great to finally take this rivalry to the football field. Love the stadium by the way.....and loved the ending. two good football squads duking it out with the outcome decided in the waning seconds. Really was impressed with how the young men from CPA handled such a heartbreaking loss. That shows several things. Very good coaching and those boys mothers rasied them right, but the biggest thing is that the Christian part of their school name showed through their ability to keep this loss in perspective. The part that impressed me the very most.....was what happened on the field after the game. Total class. I predict great things for these young men. On the field and off.
  8. New district for several common foes......I know that CPA lost several starters as did DL. Do either re-load or are both re-building? I think both will have some seniors that had to play off of the bench last year.... although CPA lost a ton of talent to graduation. MLK is always good by the end of the season, whether they graduate none or graduate 5 starters. Pearl Cohn has had some good teams in the past few years, but not sure what they will be like this year..... any insight? Also, new teams that i know nothing about this year are Maplewood, Whites Creek and Stratford. What will their teams be like this year? Practice starts in a couple of weeks.
  9. "go around him??".... I take it you haven't played much ball. Probably a mom. To those on the field, this play was really a non-incident.
  10. Knox Catholic wins this one 10 - 9
  11. .....because South Side has graduation tonight.
  12. game has been re-scheduled for 3:00 Saturday.
  13. I second the congrats....P-C was not a very good ballclub this year, but I loved the effort and attitude that I saw on the field and in the dugout in the two games that I saw. I was also impressed by the coach. Very level headed and patient. It was apparent that most of the players did not grow up playing the game at a high competition level, if they played at all before HS, so it appeared that his mission is to teach and mentor them so that they would have a love and appreciation for the game. As far as attitude is concerned, these kids could teach a thing or two to some of the teams that will go deep into the tournament. After our game with PC this year, my wife was walking through the parking lot with her arms loaded with chairs, cooloer etc. Two of the PC boys walked up and asked to help her carry all of her stuff and were extremely polite. She cut up with them for a second or two, and wishes that she could write their parents to let them know what polite and courteous young men they were. Good luck to them next year, and hope they get several wins.
  14. Hey mcfan......... how would the fundamental style of Lipscomb stack up to Boliver should we meet in Murfreesboro? I am assuming that we would not want to get into a track meet.
  15. The refs might have let alot go but thats tournament ball you gotta fight through it, and that 5th foul on johnson was the right call.. i was right there and saw him hit his arm
