HENDERSONVILLE COMMANDOS VS BEECH BUCCANEERS

this should be a great 2 game series. Hendersonville (19 - 3) plays a very good beech team tuesday at hendersonville and wednesday at beech both at 7:00 will be two very big district games with alot of intensity.

the 2 teams combine for a 49-5-1 record. both teams are in the top 10 in the state.

 

hendersonville has 2 losses to two of the top 5 teams in the state (riverdale/mt. juliet) and a loss to the top ranked team in ky (Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park). the three losses have been by a combined 4 runs total. Hendersonville starts 7 seniors and 2 sophomores.

 

Beech has 2 losses (shelbyville and Riverdale) and 1 tie. they have been rolling up teams in the past couple of weeks. they have played and defeated 8 teams from Kentucky in their past 10 games. They have a chance to be both the Tennessee and Kentucky state champs!!! Beech starts 7 seniors and 2 juniors.

 

all of these kids grew up playing ball with and against each other. Great kids, families, and coaches on both sides. This will be a true pleasure to watch this set of games.

 

Watching Zac Curtis pitch against Robert Hansen should be 2 of the states best on the mound.

Does anyone know the score to the second game of this series... b/c i heard that Hendersonville won the second game..?

hendersonville won 8-5. they laid 3 perfect bunts down the third base line after a lead off walk then beech threw one away. hville got a few hits after that. scored six in that inning. beech played awful. hendersonville took advantage.

Dennis Jones held Beech to 3 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Hendersonville outhit beach 10 - 6.

Beech had a couple of errors that cost them 3 unearned runs. Beech scored 3 of its runs on walks, not hits, so this pretty well evens out.

 

this was a very well played and exciting series between 2 very good teams. great environment and great fans on both sides. The breaks went Beech's way Tuesday, went Hendersonvilles way Wednesday, thats baseball.

 

I think it disengenuous to diminish Hendersonville win by saying that Beech played "terrible". Both teams made its fair share of mistakes, that is what happens when both teams are putting the ball in play. Its been a long long time since Hendersonville beat Beech, so congratulations to them.

 

Hendersonville or Beech could have easily won both, they are evenly matched.

 

This should make Goodlettsville/Hendersonville proud to have 2 excellent teams playing at this high level.

 

Kudos to both teams on an exciting series and superior sportsmanship. Each team was gracious in victory, and in defeat, they conducted themselves honorably before, during, and after the game.

 

It is just a shame to only play 2 games against one another....the district format in this region is just awful. We waste all of our time playing meaningless games against Ky teams and other games that just have no intrigue. Imagine the gate a third game would draw in this series... instead...i guess we will just schedule Mcgavock, antioch, westmoreland, or some other meaningless run rule game.

I am taking nothing away from hendersonville. they hit it better wednesday night and seemed like they wanted it more. they played better. i was just saying beech could have played better. but like you said thats baseball. good series.
