I just couldn't help but notice that NCS saved their ace and got eliminated. They only threw Hartley 1.2 innings while being ousted. Just wondering what was up with that.

Hartley only pitched 1 inning last night. The extensive rain-delay along with his arm-soreness caused them to pull him. He has a pretty big future, and its not worth 20 state titles to kill a kid's arm. They have rode him all year. FCS would not even pitch to him besides his leadoff at-bat at the top of the 1st. 2 intentional walks, plus another walk. NCS ran out of pitching, and credit to FCS their bats came alive and capitalized.

 

NCS only loses 2 seniors, so expect them to be back.

Storm delay and Hartley arm was getting sore. He is still a great player. He had one play at short where he went vertical a good 3ft and robbed a line drive from one of the Friendship batters. Friendships bats finally woke up and seniors finally stepped up. It should be a better match up today with Riverside.

I knew Hartley was a good pitcher, just didn't know he had a sore arm. Riverside only losess one senior so we should be back next year as well. Our # 2 guy Ryan Fishe kept those bats at bay again, 7-2 Riverside win.

Hartley is a junior. His brother graduated last year from NCS, signed with Dyersburg State, then blew out the knee. He has a little sister in 7th grade at DCA.

Wonder why he was sore? Could it be the fact that he threw over a 120 pitches in the region semi's and then another 130 pitches in the sub-state game. And then tried to throw two more times in the state tournament. Not good for the ole arm.
