  1. Agree. Place has been listening to some Michael Jackson lately. If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change!
  2. He came by for a cut last week. Razor line sharp, got The Works treatment. All the people out East and Rosa Parks middle love him. Never know when he's going to swing through.
  3. Big Den and DJ Paul wants Juicy J and so do the people. All of us out East want it to happen, cause the bus is loaded up. Buck about to come through with the lineman up front real quick. If anyone has a problem, come see the Barber.
  4. No, You have not touched a nerve. I'm confident in the direction of leadership of all sports programs in the school the day CPW was announced as Head Football Coach. It sets the tone, and I'm fine with it. If you don't stand for something like personal integrity, you will fall for anything. Much like everyone trying to figure out usernames. Most people wanted to see CPW coach on this side of town anyway, and we are thankful he wanted to be at DCA with all the folks that have supported his career. Like him or not, his track record is winning and he is legend to a lot of people that grew up on this side of town and played for him. Forward thinkers know the deal. A DCA girls basketball thread getting 7,000 views is something epic, and something I never thought I would see personally. Back to the search...........
  5. No you don't know. We all know who the coach is that can teach math, coach girls basketball, and multiple sports. I usually don't comment in DCA threads, but since everyone thinks they know something, they really do not have a clue. Best of luck to the new coach! Thanks!
  6. Ensworth is still very inexperienced and depth is an issue. They still have studs, but the fact of the matter is they have problems snapping the ball, the QB play is suspect, and to be honest Oakland is really good. Ensworth only dresses 45 players compared to 80-90 for some of the bigger schools. So they are playing with less players, plus they are only allowed to practice 12 hours per week per school rules. Take nothing away from Oakland, they absolutely dominated the game, and from what I heard they will be making a deep run into the playoffs. However, Ensworth does have some injuries, and it's going to take some time for Ensworth. If the offense doesn't start clicking soon, it might be time to put Corn in the Wildcat and tell him to make plays.
  7. Coach Wade did mean a tremendous amount not only to the football program, but the entire school. Let's face it, he built their program into something they had never done before...winning titles. He was a tremendous asset to the school, otherwise he wouldn't be at ENSWORTH. Coach A needs to be given some time and with the lack of personnel it's going to make things look worse than it really is. I'm sure the guy feels enough pressure anyway. If you count the TE, from what I'm told they lost 4 starters on the OL. Even with #40 and Co. in the backfield, with no experience up front, it's going to be tough. Also, they lost one of their QB's as they rotated 2 guys. I don't think Williams is 100% with the knee injuries and if they can't open many holes and are having little success throwing the ball, teams can put 8-9 in the box to stop him and the stable of RBs. As far as DCA/Davidson, I think the Cats are poised for a big run. I don't know if they are at Knox Webb or ECS's level, but will have to be reckoned with. With Kennedy at QB, Dismukes at RB, Johnston at WR they are loaded at the skill positions for 2 years. Also, it looks as their line is going to be solid. Former state championship QB Rusty Thompson is in the role as an asst. looks to have helped Kennedy make tremendous strides during the offseason with 4 TD's against MJCA. Also looks like Coach Goodwin has opened up the offense besides the traditional I-formation and look for DCA to throw the ball down the field more than in recent years.
  8. 1996 TC at DCA - 36-19 Final Great game both ways...
  9. I saw them play today....They are going to be good. Legate (the daughter) was all-region in D-II. She can ball as is definitely a starter.
  10. Hartley is a junior. His brother graduated last year from NCS, signed with Dyersburg State, then blew out the knee. He has a little sister in 7th grade at DCA.
  11. Hartley only pitched 1 inning last night. The extensive rain-delay along with his arm-soreness caused them to pull him. He has a pretty big future, and its not worth 20 state titles to kill a kid's arm. They have rode him all year. FCS would not even pitch to him besides his leadoff at-bat at the top of the 1st. 2 intentional walks, plus another walk. NCS ran out of pitching, and credit to FCS their bats came alive and capitalized. NCS only loses 2 seniors, so expect them to be back.
  12. Hartley didn't start. They brought him in in the bottom of the 7th. He did however hit a HR to tie the game at 1. The OF for NCS dropped a routine fly, and FCS scored. Great game from what I heard. Congrats Commander Man
  13. Frankly, I don't see anyone beating Ensworth. They should have won it all last year and I don't think they will make the same mistakes this year. O-line will be the best in the state by far with two high level D-1 kids, and both will be used as needed on d-line. Running back is solid, QB is solid, may throw a bit more, which will make them more balanced and less predictable. DBs and LBs I'm not too sure about. BA should be second. I'd then go MUS, CBHS, MBA. JMO. I'm thinking Ensworth is going to be tough. I'd say BA should have the better players, but with the addition of Wade to the Ensworth staff, they will not only have players, but be much better prepared. Also, Coach Wade will be a big asset to in-game decisions to Coach Bowers on the sideline. I'll take Ensworth and be gladly leave my email for bets by paypal. How can Ensworth's QB be solid? Don't think he has proved himself yet. He is not a runner.
  14. Ha sounds like someone is a little jealous of Friendship Christian to me. Its not called recruiting, some parents want to get their kids away from a public school. This aint a public vs. private school thread though, so lets not talk about it. Think I'll chime in on this one. Why would anyone be jealous of Friendship? Granted they can get to the state tournament year in and year out, but have won it only once. Regardless of how they get their players, it comes down to winning. Then when it comes to football there is always a meltdown or McNeal panics in a big game. They either can't get past Trousdale Co. in football, and when they did, their QB threw 6 picks against JCS in the championship....why did they even pass the ball anyway? They have had a historicly great baseball program. There is enough talent in that county to feed Central, MJ, and Lebanon in baseball along with Friendship. Whether they "recruit or not" is irrelevant....lots of schools give financial aid and still suck.....and I can think of a couple of teams that have underachieved a lot worse than FCS especially in baseball. NCS vs. Friendship should be a great game. If Hartley pitches, I like NCS, if not I'll take the Commanders...but since he pitched Sat. I don't know if they'll start him or not from my sources.
  15. Seriously, GTFO with that non-sense.....you lost, get over it. Sorry it ruined your perfect season. I can assure you that CPW does not enjoy weedeating or mowing the field, so I doubt he took the initiative to "soak down" the field. And when your coaching staff is still making that excuse, I would be embarrassed to be a fan, much less mention it.
  16. I think spreadoption is a closet Brokeback Mountain fan. JMHO BGA hired from within....Their former girls coach. Not looking to spend any extra $$ I guess. What is BGA thinking first releasing Coach Smith, then hiring someone within the school? JMO, but they probably should have looked "outside the box".....I am not questioning the new coach, but is this hire going to make a difference, seriously?
  17. I can assure you that Wade didn't soak the field when they played Webb. That is the worst excuse I've ever heard, and makes you look like a complete douche for even mentioning it. I mean you are on a message board claiming that a high school coach "intentionally soaked his field" to stop "your speed"... that screams - I am a sore loser. Do you think a guy that has won 3 of the last 5 state championships is worried about "soaking his field"? It's not like Webb had 5 D-1 athletes on the field. Let's face it, they beat you straight up without their best player, and you got outcoached. I'm not even a Davidson fan, but they had no business hanging with "your talent" - Good thing you guys woke up and moved down a division to compete.....
  18. Will Rutledge have to mow the football field at JPII?
  19. I think BigEns is a closet BGA fan. JMO -
  20. Looks like the finalists are Rutledge, Alexander (current DA asst. and Wade disciple) and Dorris (current DCA asst. coach). If Rutledge is heading to JPII as rumored, I think Alexander might be the leader in the clubhouse. I would expect an announcement by tomorrow. With Wade handing over the keys to head for greener pastures, I wish DA luck with their new regime. If they hand the ball to #40 about 35 times a game, they should be in good shape. Still have gotten no answer if Wade will be allowed to wear shorts on gameday at Ensworth....but rumor has it that Big Ricky has already handed him an Ensworth gas card.
  21. JPII already gives aid to athletes based on need. What JPII needs to do is get in the proper classification for their size. That would be DivII A. The success you alluded to took place in that classification. Never won a title even in Div II A. All Div II schools can give aid to athletes. So why don't you say what you mean. If JPII will give the studs full rides, then they might rise from the ashes of Div II AA. But what about the other needy students who don't happen to play sports, the heck with them. Boy that would be fair and promote the schools mission backwards. In previous posts of yours in years past, you have stated the exact same situation for Father Ryan, now what is it going to be, JPII or Ryan as the bottom dweller according to you. Their enrollment does not allow them to drop down. Unlike schools like BGA that choose to play up, with JPII's enrollment they can't move down.
  22. If the price is right....it could be
  23. BGA would be a step up from USN basketball. They have been to the State playoffs the past few years but the higher division is more competitive. BGA basketball is on the rise. Watch and see. Dont sleep on BGA. We have had some terrible seasons lately. But this is our time to shine. You obviously do not know anything about USN basketball. BGA won 5 games last year, 5!!! That is not a step up from the state championship game. BGA will forever be a stepping stone for teams like the mighty ENSWORTh, MBA, and Brentwood Academy to kick the crap out of. DOn't fool your self to thinking that it is a better job because it is in a higher division. THey suck! BigENS, let's be honest here. USN wasn't exactly a juggernaut when Coach Sonn got there. They were basically the whipping boy for everyone else. Sure, they had a good player every now and then, but haven't been competitive until Sonn got there. Granted, I do not feel Coach Smith should have been released, but that's a moot point now. As stated under the BGA AD post, if they moved down to Class A, they would instantly be competitive. I don't think a "changing of the guard" is going to help BGA in boys basketball. Smith can coach. He just doesn't have the horses of the Big 3 to compete. And if the school isn't going to be proactive in finding players, then he's gotta roll with what's there. It might be a better job, depending on what you are looking for.....If BGA is paying X and USN is playing less, than that might be a better opportunity. But if they are going to continue in Class AA, there best bet is to get the best young coach with connections.....Maybe Drew Maddux?
  24. Word on the street is that a pretty big name interviewed yesterday....this name would be a pretty big suprise.
