RBS vs Cannon Nation

Wow, that is really sad.  Why do they not have a team made up of 6-8th grades at the k-8 schools?

Cannon has 6 K-8 schools. Three of which are so small they have less than 130 kids in a school.Could be less than 20 boys per school in those top 3 grades. Might save money in the long run to close some of them maybe I do not know. All of those boys would not want to play. Just small schools. Larger schools do not want to field a team. Where would you

practice or even play everyone could not play at the high school field.  Most people must like it the way it is.

The kids are there. Walk up and down the halls of the school plenty of good athletes walking around. It's just there is no want to. No one wants to play for the laughing stock of the state. And that starts with coach. You have to make the kids believe you can win. No one in that school or the town of Woodbury believes Tj can win. I can remember the 3 years Barger was there, he had 40+ kids all 3 years he was there. He changed the culture from the "same old cannon county." Well they have fallen back to that point. And I believe this maybe the worst it's ever been over a period of time. Until you get someone in there who the kids believe in and show some progression, you're just going to be having the same conversation. It wouldn't surprise me if there is no football team at cannon county in the next 5-10 years if something don't change.

It wont ever change as long as they keep hiring Board members sons to coach rather than going and finding someone that actually knows the game and has a passion for it.  Do they have to wait for the next election of board members to get a new coach or can they make a change after more than likely getting worse every single year of the coaches tenure.  But hey after this year it probably cant get any worse.

You maybe correct if the next five are like the last five. It may die and I am sure some think it has already done that. Only three winning seasons out of the last 20 years.Last five plus seasons 3-50.

Not to be mean, the I like the HC. Known him my whole life, but good grief, a person has to see the ship is sinking. We're talking about kids here so you don't play Captain and go down with it. You jump off cause your not the guy to fix it, let someone else steer!!!! Swallow your pride and look in the mirror

    • One final thought. Coach Keith claims he was not aware of the player's failing grades. I won't comment on that, just to say this, IF he did not, whose job was it to see that this kid did not play ball at CHS? That person should be looking for a job and they might be, I don't know.
    • They have fired the principal, 2 teachers, at least 1 counsellor and 1 coach so far. I don't see it from my view in Oak Ridge as a coach thing, he  was just implicated in asking 1 teacher to  fix 1 kid's grades.   In our local media(Clinton and Oak Ridge)the principal is who is the originator and pusher of the fraud. The others are peripheral. The coach isn't even the big story, just here on a sports site.  The media view is the principal did it to cause CHS to be seen as excellent by the state. He committed fraud to do that so he might spend a little time in jail IF that is valid.
    • And from coach himself, he wasn’t told he was let go because of the ineligible player.    that’s just what the schools needed to happen to fit their bull
    • Wish it was made clear before a coach gets let go or not retained instead of being sold as the reason he was in trouble. I was told the kids who got grades changed, 97% or better were non athletes but the coach is taking all the heat so the schools can pretend it wasn’t their job to know. heck, what do you think could happen when you hire husband and wife as head principal and head guidance….   that’s not being said though…
    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe.  Last time I came up there to watch my pirates one of those guys in that pickup trucks flattened the tires on the lawnmower.  This is payback.  You can bet the lawnmower on that.
